In episode 6 of our MAURITIUS ROAD TRIP we show you one of the many reasons why you should visit Mauritius: it's so easy to get from great mountain hikes to beautiful beaches in a short amount of time. This is just one of the many reasons why we love Mauritius, but it's not often that a travel destination offers such a rich variety of sceneries!
In this video we start our day in Port Louis and then drive to Le Pouce to go on one of the island’s best hikes to the top of the mountain that’s supposed to look like a thumb (it doesn’t really). After trying to find some healthy food in Port Louis, we then continue driving to stop 5 on our road trip the next day. And we were really excited for this one! We quickly fell in love with Trou-aux-Biches and for us it’s one of the best beach destinations on the island.

The summer months in Mauritius are from December to April, when it can become extremely humid, and the winter months are from May to November, and this is when it is cooler and drier.

We did have an amazing day at Il aux cerfs, voted 'Best Place to Visit' by trip advisor BUT... we've been on the island now for two weeks and we can categorically tell you THIS IS NOT THE BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN MAURITIUS. However, Beach was nice, sandbar was amazing for young children. Water was shallow. Plenty of shade. Plenty of seating. BUT very expensive to eat or drink. Sharp coral sand. Water not so clean due to low current.
We will be trying to explore this island of luxury... on a budget! Will it be a complete failure or will we uncover a great opportunity for people to visit this island and not have to remortgage their house.
