WESTERN SAHARA to MAURITANIA: from Dakhla to the most dangerous border of the world // EPS.2

Three months after we drove the motorcycles to Dakhla, we continued our journey in the desert of Morocco/Western Sahara. We had heard many nightmare stories about the border of Mauritania ahead (it was supposed to be the most dangerous border in the world with a lawless No Man's land with landmines and small sandy tracks). But our first obstacle when returning to Dakhla was to find a motorcycle garage for changing the tires of our bikes before we could enjoy the oasis of Dakhla for Kitesurfing. A little break before we really started our adventure ride south through the desert on the westcoast of Africa. On the way through Morocco/ Western Sahara we came across many checkpoints, beautiful dunes and amazing landscapes before we finally hit the border of Mauritania...

ILLEGALLY Crossing the border between Mauritania and Morocco ???????? ????????

*Support my channel by making a donation and make my dream come true.*
I'm dreaming of a Mustang since I was a child. Help me raise funds to afford it (I will keep it until I die)

While in the city of Nouadhibou after riding the iron ore train in Mauritania, I chose to illegally cross the border to Morocco.

Mauritania and Morocco are neighbor countries and Morocco is on a walking distance from the city of Nouadhibou.

MAURITANIA: Breakdown in the middle of the desert! Terjit Oasis and Chinguetti // EPS. 3

The rough ride through Mauritania: Breakdown in the middle of the desert, a trip to an ancient town that gets burried by the dunes, and new friends who helped us solve our problems.
We started off in the mauritanian city Nouadhibou, where we learned how to adapt to local customs. After a short stay in Mauritanias capital Nouakchott we started our journey inlands – hundreds of kilometers in the burning heat with 40 degrees celsius plus. When doing a little excursion to the oasis Terjit we got stuck in deep sand – and my travel partner burnt the clutch of his Africa Twin motorcycle. With the help of the whole village we were able to get to a local guesthouse – but the Africa Twin would not start anymore. While looking for a solution I did excursions to the city Atar and the ancient town Chinguetti, which once was one of the most important cities of Islam. How we solved the problem with the motorcycle? Watch the whole episode to find out if we were ever able to leave the oasis of Terjit!

REACHING AFRICA: From Germany to Morocco. Europes best roads // EPS 1

Who wants to go around Africa, first has to get to Africa. Before the big West Africa adventure could start, I had to ride from Europe/Germany to Morocco. The late delivery of my new motorcycle, a Yamaha Tenere 700, delayed my trip for weeks – so I had only two weeks left to ride from Munich in Germany to Dakhla in Morocoo/Western Sahara crossind Switzerland, Italy, France, Andorra, Spain and Morocco. More than 5000 Kilometers within 14 days. In this episode I will introduce my travel partner – and some of the most scenic offroad routes in Europe, such as: Strada dell'Assietta, Colle du Parpaillon, the old smuggler roads to Andorra from Tor close to the Pyrenees and part of the TET (Trans European Trail) in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range in Spain. In Morocco we visited Casablanca, Essaouira, Sidi Ifni and ended this transport ride in Dakhla. Join the journey to West Africa!

Camping on the Border of Mauritania - Extreme Travel

I'm going to be honest. I didn't like Mauritania. It's a difficult country and from what I saw of the main two cities the people were tough and not paticularly welcoming. Not one person stopped to talk to me or gave me anything when I talked to them. I only started to realise why after the video. I think a lot of the mistrust comes from the fact a large section of the population had some first hand experience of slavery and who could blame them for keeping themselves to themselves. Join me as I wander through the streets and drive my old van further than it's ever been.

MOROCCO TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY | The Grand Moroccan Roadtrip

► SUPPORT - 'Buy us a refill of diesel' -

Follow us on our Grand Moroccan Roadtrip!
From sweeping sand dunes to desolate highways of emptiness, bustling cities, and snow-covered peaks, we explored Morocco from north to south and east to west. Driving more than 10,000 km in eight weeks, our roadtrip included many unforgettable adventures. Watch as we explore remote landscapes, climb high peaks, battle breath-taking dust-topias (double pun, yeah!), and navigate the hectic bustle of Morocco’s major cities.

Thank you:
A big THANK YOU goes to Saloua Dabhi who helped tremendously with pronouncing Moroccan names. Real Talk:
Despite our attempt at keeping our Morocco Travel Documentary as authentic as possible, you are still watching a highlight reel. When editing, we naturally tend to choose the most exciting videos. What you don’t see are the hours spent driving through less spectacular landscapes or some of the unpleasant challenges we faced.

Did we like everything about Morocco?
Far from it. As mentioned in the video, the huge amount of trash definitely dampened our experience. Additionally, we were surprised by the sheer number of begging children. During our trip, we counted a minimum of 500 children asking us for money or sweets. While Morocco undoubtedly has to combat poverty, this behavior often seemed less dictated by need and more by opportunity. Stopping and giving is an individual choice, of course, but when we didn’t we were regularly flipped off, kicked after, or hurled insults at.
In general, though, we perceived most Moroccans as extremely friendly and helpful. The best example is the three local men who selflessly helped us to change our ruptured tire. We cannot thank them enough.

Full Disclosure:
This trip was entirely self-funded. However, we did enjoy a two-night complimentary stay at La Sultana Oualidia and a two-night complimentary stay at La Sultana Marrakech.

AFRICA ????DAY 6 and 7 ???? Good Bye Morocco, No Man's Land with Dangerous mines before Mauritania!

Hello everyone. Sorry for not uploading persistently . We have had our troubles with poor internet, electricity problems that effected uploading our content on cloud as well as editing. I hope You enjoy our episodes. Thank You for your patience.

Day 6 - Thanks to GoPro Cloud they lost our uploaded footage of this day, we’re early in the morning we noticed missing 3 main screws from our front fork to the wheel, so we were on the search + suddenly flat front tire which had to fix… so basically repair day and getting passport photos for our Mauritania Visa following day.

Day 7 started with packing and putting our bags on the motorcycle. We drove out with a surprise surrounded by hundreds of School kids around us! It felt like being in bees hive.

We drove out from Dakhla WOW hotel to Nouakchott majoring 830km .It was long journey. We crossed border with a little hold up. Of course there where hustler, who helped to get the process to get visas faster. Had a problem with money exchanging but we managed that by exchanging currency with one of the man who was waiting in line for visa too. We ‘no mans land’. It was a bit terrifying as there was a lot of mine/bomb warning signs as well as stories that we heard before crossing. It was safe, despite all the warnings. Most important is not to leave the track/road, that always barely visible from time to time as the road was just terrible.

After crossing the danger zone, we continued our way to capital of Mauritania.
Road was full of camels as well as sand in some spots. The strong winds were making the road more challenging. Wind was blowing us to one side, so we needed to balance towards it just to keep up the balance. Sand that was blown over the road, blocked us the clear view on the pot holes on the way.

Still it was beautiful, and so extraordinary to see the desert and be experiencing the climate of these conditions where water is nowhere to be seen, when bottled water get so hot that you can make your own tea or coffee from it.

We didn’t anticipate the sun go down so fast. So yet again we were driving trough dark. It was scary to be honest, as the road is already dangerous during the day due to poor visibility, during the night it was even worse..

We reached first petrol stations on the way, they were empty. 7petrol stations were completely empty, so we went to next ones. We found couple of amazing people who carried plastic bottles with petrol for us. That was enough to reach capital. It got really emotional as in Europe we have never really received such a generous gesture from complete strangers. There is a lot to learn.

We got the city safe and sound.
