Hi I’m Abi with Holiday Extras Travel Guides, and this time we’re in Venice! We’ll be giving you all the essential information to help you travel better. Covering tips on money, language, transport, and a few of the things we’ve learned along the way… but first here’s a bit about this unique city.

Rising up from the sea, and running on a series of canals and waterways, Venice is a special place. There’s no cars, no roads, just grand buildings, old palaces, tiny streets, and gondolas.

Venice is 697 miles from London, with flights from the UK taking on average two hours, to get into Venice most people travel from Marco Polo airport, and it’s here where our guide starts!

VENICE Travel Guide: Tips + Things To Do | Everything you NEED to know

???? HIGHLIGHTS of Venice, Italy ❤️
St Mark's Square + Rialto Bridge!

MAP WITH POINTS OF INTEREST:

How much does a Gondola ride cost? The City of Venice sets the official rates: €80 for 40 minutes during the day, and at night from 7pm the rate jumps to €100, for up to 6 people.

When did we travel? We travelled in April. It was still super cold at night, so rug up if you're visiting during the shoulder seasons.

Did it smell? No! Not while we were there!

Best view? Head to the Rialto Bridge with a gorgeous view of the Grans Canal at sunset.

Best gelato: Venchi. It’s amazing!! Try the Condensed Milk flavour!

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Visit Venice - 5 Vital Tips for Visiting Venice, Italy

Heading to Venice on Vacation & Want a bit more insider information on this amazing island city? Here we have 5 quick tips to help travelers get the most out of visiting Venice, Italy. With over 20 million visitors a year Venice is quite popular, but let us help you figure out a few things you should know before you go to Venice.
1. Be Prepared to Get Lost: wandering the back alleys and canals is vital for enjoying Venice, Italy. However, some tourists might get a bit scared not being on a popular tourist route. Well with tons of signs and locals that know tourists get lost you won't be lost long (it is an island after all). So grab a map and still get lost enjoying those amazing hidden squares and cafes.
2. Pack Your Patience: with 20 million tourists Venice is inundated with tourists all parts of the years (especially in summer). So be prepared to wait in line for sights, wait for restauratns, fight through crowds to go over the Railto bridge etc.
3. Don't Expect The Greatest Italian Food: with all of the tourists that come not all the restaurants try their hardest. They know tons more tourists are coming the next day. So ask one of the locals for some local places to try some local food and you will be better off.
4. Dress Modestly: some of the churches will not let you in to visit their collections if you are not dressed appropriately.
5. There Is More Than Just The Venice Island in Venice: go explore some of the outlying islands like Murano where you can see the glass blowers, or visit the beaches just outside of town in the warmer months. Also, you can save a lot of money staying in Mestre instead of on the island of Venice.

Discover a different Venice: Jean-Paul Morselli chose Venice to be his home town, and now offers tours of the lagoon city in historical boats. Here, he avoids the tourist spots – taking you instead to see some of his personal favorites. One of Europe’s most popular travel destinations, the Italian city has been heavily affected by the coronavirus, and restrictions to contain it.
