The #AfricanRenaissanceMonument is a major landmark towering the skies of #Dakar,#Senegal . It is is 52 m (171 ft) tall and made of copper.
It is the tallest statue in Africa.
It is taller than the statue of Liberty in New York and Christ the Redeemer in Rio, Brazil. It's cost of construction was $27M
On 3 April 2010, the African Renaissance Monument was unveiled in Dakar in front of 19 African heads of state.
The sculpture of man, woman and child stands as a symbol of defiance and future prosperity.It dominates the Dakar skyline and it represents Africa taking “its destiny into its own hands. The baby is hand is pointing to the future while the woman's hand shows the past that's to be left behind.
Inside this monument is a museum. For a non citizen you pay $5. Then take the elevator to the head of the man .
It's interesting to note that in terms of direction. The baby's hand is pointing to the statue of Liberty in New York.
There's a lot of history and culture to learn inside the museum and the guide will take you along!

Bienvenue à mon VLOG #2 Découverte. Ce 20/03/2022 j’ai visité le Monument de la Renaissance Africaine. Le but c’était d’arriver jusqu’au chapeau du père (15e niveau), mais il y avait une panne d’ascenseur car ce niveau n’est accessible que par ascenseur. Donc la visite s’est arrêtée finalement au 3e niveau où nous avions pris les escaliers ( c’est acceptable par rapport au 15e).
Haut de 52 mètres et réalisé en Cuivre. Il est le 2e monument le plus grand dans le monde après celui de
On y accède par un grand escalier de 198 marches.
Quel est le message lancé du Monument de la Renaissance Africaine constitué du Père, de la Mère ainsi que de l’enfant?
À la base c’est une famille qui sort de la profondeur de la terre vers la lumière.
- Commençons par l’enfant. Lui son doigt dirigé vers le ciel, c’est pour montrer le futur et l’espoir de l’Afrique.
- La Mère elle laisse la main derrière pour montrer l’enracinement (le passé).
- Le Père quand à lui Symbolise la force.
Au rez-de-chaussée il y’a une description de l’histoire de la construction du monument avec l’histoire de l’Afrique ainsi que ces grandes figures.
4:00 Commence L’histoire d’une famille sénégalaise au premier étage du monument.
5:46, le salon présidentiel où l’ex président WADE avait reçu les invités pour l’inauguration.
Enfin à 7:16 le 3e niveau où l’on expliquait le monument ainsi que ces détail etc.

In the previous video I went to fly my drone with Djeneba. In that same video, I talk a little bit about the Monument and in this video you will hear about the controversy of the Monument of African Renaissance/ Monument de la Renaissance Africaine.
Although we almost got arrested for this (droning by the monument), we were eventually let go! We were also allowed to keep the videos and pictures we took. Thumbs up if you think it was definitely worth it!
After almost 3 years, I find myself back in Dakar, Senegal. I plan on staying in Senegal for about 3 months. Mostly to work on creating content, connecting with local creatives and to work on some personal projects such as my next Wolof class.

Hello la team ????????✨...Pour cette vidéo qui est un vlog,je vous emmène à la découverte du Monument de la Renaissance africaine qui est un groupe monumental de 52 mètres en bronze et cuivre situé à Ouakam, une commune d'arrondissement de Dakar, sur l'une des deux collines volcaniques coniques qui surplombent la capitale sénégalaise, les Mamelles, la plus haute portant déjà le phare des Mamelles.
Ce monument a été construit en 2009 et inauguré le 03 avril 2010.
