Today we docked in Skagen, Denmark, the most northerly point of Denmark on the 11th day of our epic cruise. This was our last port before arriving back in the UK and we were not expecting a lot from today. Skagen is a very small town, with a population of only 8,000 people, and no outstanding features. However, we all did enjoy our day in Skagen, either exploring or shopping, and I particularly enjoyed the beach walk exploring the WW2 Bunkers.
We were informed locally that Skagen is the 2nd most visited destination in Denmark, after Copenhagen, with over 2 million visitors annually!

We find the local hand made sweet shop, visit a small gift shop, take a stop at the train station and have a look in the BLUE ALDI supermarket .
Our journey wouldn't be complete without a visit to the historic Skagen Church.
Finally, we make our way to the picturesque Skagen Harbor,Capture a postcard-worthy photo of the iconic Skagen Vippefyr, a wooden lighthouse perched at the harbor's edge. SAILING TO SKAGEN-DENMARK
In April 2021 I took a 5 days solo sailing trip visiting various places in my Great Dane 28. This episode is from my visit at Skagen which is situated in the northern part of Jutland in Denmark. Skagen is a little town with approx. 8000 inhabitants. 2-3 km north from Skagen is Grenen where the sea of Kattegat and Skagerak meets. I took the opportunity to compose a quick song about the town. Skagen Danmark Där Östersjön möter Nordsjön
Skagen är den nordligaste staden i Danmark och ligger på Skagens Odde som utgör Jyllands norra spets. Skagen ingår i Frederikshavns kommun i Region Nordjylland
.Skagen har en fiske- och gästhamn och ett varv samt är ändpunkt för järnvägslinjen Skagensbanen.
Cirka fyra kilometer söder om Skagens centrum ligger Den tilsandede kirke (Sankt Laurentii kyrka), som uppfördes i slutet av 1300-talet. Den stängdes 1795 på grund av det stora problemet med nedsandning. Idag återstår endast kyrktornet.
Norr om Skagen ligger Danmarks nordligaste udde, Grenen, där Kattegatt möter Skagerrak. Udden utgörs av sanddyner. Här finns Skagens fyr.
På 1870- och 80-talen var Skagen en samlingspunkt för många skandinaviska konstnärer, Skagenmålarna, vilka lockades dit av det speciella ljuset.
Strax utanför Skagen finns Råbjerg mile, en gigantisk vandrande sanddyn som tar upp en tredjedel av Nordjyllands hals i bredd.
Befolkningen i Skagen har av tradition försörjt sig på fiske. På senare tid har turismen tagit över allt mer och är idag en åretruntverksamhet. Populära utflyktsmål för svenska turister är Skagenmålarnas boningar, Skagens Museum, Gamla Skagen, Skagens gamla fyr, Svenska Sjömanskyrkan, Grenen, Brøndums Hotel och Den tilsandede kirke. Skagen har som ort genomgått kraftiga förändringar under senare årtionden och tidigare klassiska institutioner som Skansen är borta. Kvar finns Skagens Bluesfestival och det går fortfarande att äta färska räkor nere i hamnen
