See what we did in Skagen, Denmark! We were there in late July 2023 as part of a Norway/Denmark cruise on the Holland America Statendam.
See what we did from our DIY excursion/walking tour to explore this charming costal town. We also had a chance to try out some local Danish street food in the form of red hot dogs.

Visiting Skagen and of Denmark where the two seas meet, the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. Walking at two Grenen beaches in same time it was a amazing experience, Skagen is a beautiful and peaceful town with typical Danish architecture and a harbour spirit. Skagen is a town located in Jutland, a region of Denmark, at the northernmost point. Its name originally spelled, 'Skaffuen,' meaning, “high point of land,” has always been known as a fishing town with its primary catch, herring, a favorite among Danish seafood lovers.

Huge sand dune covering 2 square km. Very beautiful view from the top but it’s a little difficult to reach up.
Exploring other city and food in north jutland Denmark. On the way back to Copenhagen we stop by Aarhus City and eat dinner at Zafran restaurant. which was very delicious.

Die Versandete Kirche ist eine von Skagens beliebtesten Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Kirche liegt ungefähr 4 km südwestlich von der Stadtmitte in Skagen Plantage, und ist ein Beweis und Mahnmal für die Kräfte der Natur. Man meint, dass die Kirche Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts gebaut wurde, und in 1795 hat man den Kampf gegen die Sandstürme und den generellen Sandflug in der Gegend aufgegeben, und die Kirche wurde geschlossen. Der Kirchturm blieb als Seezeichen stehen.

Today we docked in Skagen, Denmark, the most northerly point of Denmark on the 11th day of our epic cruise. This was our last port before arriving back in the UK and we were not expecting a lot from today. Skagen is a very small town, with a population of only 8,000 people, and no outstanding features. However, we all did enjoy our day in Skagen, either exploring or shopping, and I particularly enjoyed the beach walk exploring the WW2 Bunkers.
We were informed locally that Skagen is the 2nd most visited destination in Denmark, after Copenhagen, with over 2 million visitors annually!

SAILING TO SKAGEN-DENMARK
In April 2021 I took a 5 days solo sailing trip visiting various places in my Great Dane 28. This episode is from my visit at Skagen which is situated in the northern part of Jutland in Denmark. Skagen is a little town with approx. 8000 inhabitants. 2-3 km north from Skagen is Grenen where the sea of Kattegat and Skagerak meets. I took the opportunity to compose a quick song about the town.
