After crossing 4,000 miles of the Pacific Ocean we arrive in one of the most remote island groups in the world. Marquesas, French Polynesia. With its steep volcanic hills rising straight out of the ocean this is definitely one of the most spectacular views we have ever seen.

Our first South Pacific Atoll - Sailing Tuamotus ????️

#sailing #sailingbeaver #ep35
Sailing to the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia has been a lifelong dream and to arrive here in our own small floating home is nothing short of amazing. This is also the arrival location of the famous Norwegian Kon-Tiki expedition led by Thor Heyerdahl, we check out the island his raft arrived and enjoy this pristine coral atoll. Enjoy ????

35 days of solitude. Sailing alone across the Pacific Ocean. Part 1: Panama to French Polynesia

My longest blue water trip, 35 days at sea. I sail alone on Reykja, a 35 year old steel yacht. It goes through the Panama Canal to Hiva Oa, French Polynesia. The distance is about 8000 kilometers. This part of the Pacific is remote, I don't see a single ship during the whole time. But many other things.

Sailing Offshore to a Remote Pacific Atoll

Another offshore passage for us in the South Pacific, but this time to a very remote atoll in French Polynesia. We set off from Fatu Hiva on a 400 mile passage heading SW for our long awaited visit to the Tuamotu Islands. Enjoy!

We Sailed 12,456 miles to see this Anchorage!

#EP33 #sailingbeaver #frenchpolynesia
This spot has been on our bucket list well before we started sailing and we always dreamed of coming here one day with our own boat. Finally we get to experience this remote Polynesian paradise for ourselves. With its steep cliffs rising straight out of the ocean and its lush rainforest this truly is one of the sailing worlds great wonders.

Sailing Alone from Hawaii to French Polynesia on a 30ft boat; 26 days at Sea and 2323 Nautical Miles

Episode #256 : Season 9 : The South Pacific

Hello Friends,

Well the time had finally come to move on and undertake the next big leg of my circumnavigation. I departed Kona, Hawaii after spending 9 months licking my wounds, repairing Triteia and exploring the Hawaiian Islands.

The passage from Hawaii to the Tuamotus took 26 days and covered 2323nm, which should be the longest passage of my entire circumnavigation.

I want to thank my shore team with special thanks to David Frederick and Sarah Koenig for your help during the crossing.

This episode is being released on the one year anniversary of my arrival to Oahu.

I hope you enjoy this film.

Crossing the Pacific alone p.2

I’m Garrett. I’m 19 years old, and for the last year and a half, I’ve been learning to solo sail the Hawaiian Islands and preparing my boat, a Nor’sea 27 to travel the world. After months at the dock getting ready to leave Hawaii I finally set sail for French Polynesia. Now I’m entering the doldrums at 4 degrees north after an 11-day and 1,100 nautical mile mostly upwind bash from Hawaii. Thanks for watching, hopefully, you weren’t as bored as I was at the end of this video.

Shorthanded Sailing Across the Pacific (to the Republic of Tranquilo!) | Sailing Tranquilo | Ep. 99

Leaving Bora Bora and French Polynesia behind, we sail west for the far, far away islands of Tonga. And with no crew it's just the three of us sailing shorthanded across the Pacific!

While strong squalls and rain test us and the yacht, it's when we become becalmed without a breath of wind that we find ourselves having the most fun and are awe-inspired, at the Republic of Tranquilo.

Covid Sailing: An Unplanned 5,000 mile Pacific Ocean passage Ep. 13

After we crossed the Panama Canal, Covid made traveling the world by sailboat much more complicated. This is our story of escaping covid.

With Panama locking down, closing airports, limiting boat movements and refusing to issue exit documents, we decided that we had to get out of dodge.

In mid-March 2020, our first two choices (Galapagos and French Polynesia) closed their borders and we decided to take the big leap and embark on an unplanned nearly 5,000 nautical mile passage into the world’s biggest ocean.

And we caught a huge marlin along the way.

Our longest crossing ever - the Pacific Ocean (ep.259)

At least in miles it was …

3028 miles or over 5600 kilometers of nothing but ocean. That's the amount of water you have to cross to get to the Marquesas, our next stop after the Galapagos. Thomas is still borrowed from Surya and we're so extremely happy that he came along. Enough sleep is the keyword on a trip like this, especially for the captain.

Happy with the extra speed the Outremer offers us in comparison to our previous boats, even if we miss out on the wind during the last couple of days we still manage to get there in quite a decent time. Around 3100 miles sailed (Greatcircle-ish) in 13 days and a bit.

Sailed 4,000 Nautical Miles to Tahiti | Episode 179

We have sailed over 4000 nautical miles to reach the island paradise of Tahiti, and so far in our first week here, the island has not disappointed us one little bit!!

We decide to spend a week in a marina near downtown Tahiti so we could be free to explore all around town and even the whole island. There is so much to see and do here, and we do our best to exhaust ourselves walking, shopping, dining, hiking, sight seeing by car, etc!!

Join us on our sailing adventures throughout the Pacific Ocean!

Visiting The Amazing Coral Gardens on the Island of Taha'a in French Polynesia

Episode #277 : Season 9 : The South Pacific

Hello Friends,

On this episode I explore the incredible Coral Gardens near the island of Taha'a. This was easily one of the most fun things I have done in my life. Coral Gardens is a hoa (water that flows between small islands aka Motus) with a fast running current that allows you to drift snorkel through the shallow pass weaving your way in and out of coral! SOOO MUCH FUN!!!! and really beautiful!

Sailing to AFRICA with a new Crew Member - EP 10 - Sailing Beaver

#sailingbeaver #offshore #beneteau
Sailing to Morocco with a new crew member and our first time departing the European mainland. Our longest crossing so far of about 400 Nautical Miles to Agadir in Morocco. Before departing Portugal we complete the last few jobs such as a new battery system, a new solar arch and wiring in additional solar panels.

A couple from Australia and Norway who set sails from Norway on a Beneteau Oceanis 40 in late 2018 to explore the world by sailboat. (Yup, another sailing couple doing the standard route and documenting it on film.)
