Zojila Pass or Zozila pass is a High Altitude mountain Pass which seperates Kashmir Valley from Ladakh Region.
Its considered as the Gateway to Ladakh.
Ladakh, Known as land of High Passes and zojila is one of them at an Altitude of 11500 ft above sea level.
Zozila is the most important and strategic route as most of the supplies to Ladakh region passes through this route for six months in summer as in winters this region gets totally isolated from the outer world due to snowfall and closing of Zojila pass.
Due to its strategic importance this area had seen some wars also major of those are Zojila war, when this was captured by pakistani based tribals and was recaptured by India through operation Bison.
Theres a war memorial dedicated to war heros of Zozila in Ghumri near zozila top.
Still Ladakh if facing many aggression from Both Pakistan and China and Indian forces are facing them and protecting ladakh very well

As we left Leh for our next destination to Kargil, lately we decided to go Srinagar but destiny has something else for us. We stuck for whole night and more than half of a next day at Zojila pass check post itself due to landslides and cloud burst.

Zojila Pass Status | Srinagar to Zojila Pass | Sonamarg to Zojila Pass | Timings, Safety, Conditions
The name Zoji La literally means the “mountain pass of blizzards” and quite rightly so. It is the most difficult stretch on the entire Srinagar Leh highway and it is because of Zoji La that the Leh route remains closed during the winter season.
The pass sits at an altitude of 3,528 meters (11,575 ft) and is a popular tourist attraction. You can find snow at the top of the pass even during the months of summer due to which a lot of people visiting Sonamarg also take a trip to Zoji La Pass.
The best time to visit Zoji La will be anytime between May to October. However, even in these months, you should avoid visiting between late June to August because of the monsoon season and Amarnath Yatra time.

It is often closed during winter, though the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is working to extend traffic to more period in winter. The Beacon Force unit and The Vijayak Force unit of the BRO are responsible for clearing and maintenance of the road during Winter. Driving through the pass in winter means driving between thick walls of ice on both sides.
