SERBIAN FOOD in Belgrade, Serbia | BEST SERBIAN cevapi, kobasice and pizza like you've never seen
We're in Belgrade, Serbia! Belgrade is the capital city of Serbia and it has a food culture which has been influenced by its conquerors over the past thousands of years as well as by its neighbours in the Balkan region. In this 2 part series we aim to show you some of the city's most beloved food as well as share some traditional Serbian food with you. We kick off with breakfast the Serbian way- eating burek (a flaky pie made with a special dough similar to filo and with meat or cheese) from a bakery which has been family run for over 50 years. Many locals claim this is the best burek in the city and after eating a lot of burek during our stay we would have to agree.  A special thanks to the owners who insisted on treating us to our meal of burek and yoghurt.

Next up, a Serbian classic- cevapi- minced meat fingers cooked over charcoal and served with kajmak (clotted cream) and ajvar (ayvar) from a local's favourite. We LOVED the cevapi from this restaurant- the meat was of a great quality and overall the meal was fantastic. Then onwards to a spot for kobasice (sausages) where they make all their sausages in-house. Again, the quality of the meat was amazing. And finally pizza at a Belgrade institution called Bucko. Here they serve their ham, cheese and mushroom pizza slathered with creamy salad dressing- it was by no means the best pizza we've ever eaten but the addition of the salad dressing was fantastic- a quirky, interesting snack! We hope you enjoy this Serbian food tour in Belgrade, Serbia. #serbianfood #belgrade #serbia

Trying the BEST SERBIAN FOOD in BELGRADE and NOVI SAD! ???????? - Serbian FOOD TOUR

In this week's travel vlog we re trying the best Serbian food. We went to Belgrade and Novi Sad on an ultimate Serbian food tour.

We start our Serbian food tour in Belgrade at Picerija Skver where we try Komplet Lipinja, a bread bowl with cheese and egg. Next we go to Ljupce Bakery and eat some of the most delicious Burek with yogurt, which is a popular breakfast in Serbia. We then eat Cevapi with Kaymak and Ajvar at Sarajevski ćevap „To je to“. At Skadarlijske kobasice we try a Serbian sausage. We are stuffed after so much meat and bread but we can't get enough of this wonderful cuisine. We visit a restaurant called Tri šešira where we eat 4 common Serbian dishes: Prebranac, Sarma, Karađorđeva šnicla and Trilece cake.
We continue our food court in Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia. We go to Circus Novi Sad where we drink a shot of Rakjia. After eating Serbian Burgers (Pljeskavica) at Papričica roštilj we finish our tour at Vremplov where we eat more sweet treats: Reforma Torta, one of the most eaten cakes in Serbia, and Šnenokle, a custard dessert with merengue.

SERBIAN FOOD YOU HAVE TO TRY IN BELGRADE!

Serbian food you have to try in Belgrade is Burek, Ćevapi, Rakia, Ajvar, and Karadjordjeva. As soon as we crossed the border from Romania into Serbia, we headed to Belgrade to try traditional Serbian food.

Burek at Bobe
The first item on our list was burek. Burek is a pie made with phyllo dough and can have many fillings. We went to Bobe which is a traditional bakery in Belgrade. We got the cheese burek and headed to the Belgrade Fortress to enjoy our breakfast with a view.

Ćevapi at Ćevabdžinica Cica
After breakfast, we wandered through the fortress and made our way to Belgrade's main pedestrian street called Knez Mihailova. Right off of Knez Mihailova is Ćevabdžinica Cica and they serve up some of the best Ćevapi in Belgrade. Ćevapi are meat sausages that are are grilled and served with onions and bread (somun).

Rakia at Rakia Bar
After the delicious Ćevapi, we tried the Serbian national drink Rakia. While at the Rakia Bar, we received the best hospitality. We tried several types of Rakia (plum, apricot, plum with lavender and honey, and cherry). We also had a nice snack of ajvar (Serbian red pepper spread) and breadsticks. Rakia Bar is a must-visit if you're in Belgrade.

Karadjordjeva at Dva Jelena (The Two Deer Restaurant)
Our last stop on our Serbian food tour in Belgrade was at Dva Jelena to try Karadjordjeva. Karadjordjeva was amazing! It's a Serbian dish that is made with veal or pork and stuffed with kajmak (dairy product similar to clotted cream). The popular Serbian dish is breaded and then fried. The kajmak was the star of the dish. It was so yummy we used bread to sop up all of it.

We fell in love with Belgrade. The food was phenomenal and the people were so kind and welcoming. We hope you enjoyed our Belgrade Food Tour!

My mom's first time trying Serbian food ????????

I brought my mom to try Serbian food at one of the best Balkan restaurant in Canada. She tried cevapi, pljeskavica, baked beans, shopska salad, karadjordjeva shnitzel, kobasice, and more. But she fell in love with kajmak. So we went kajmak hunting at an Eastern Europen supermarket in Canada: Starsky. Check out her reaction trying Serbian food.

Organic fruits and vegetables are so aromatic with fresh dirt still clinging to them - you know they were just harvested and were not refrigerated. You have a wide variety of really inexpensive and healthy meats, fish and really amazing breads and pastries.

Serbia is one of those countries where traditional organic farming is still widely practiced and farmers come to Belgrade from many surrounding villages and towns to sell their produce. So support the local farmers as this has got to be the best food we have seen anywhere.

BELGRADE, SERBIA - Hi everyone and welcome to back to Belgrade! In previous videos in this series we have checked out some common dishes that every foreigner has to have - burek, cevapcici and pljeskavica. But what else is there on offer?

In this video I teamed up with Igor from @belgrade_eats (instagram), a local history student who knows his stuff about food!

????Rakija - a common Serbian brandy coming in a variety of flavours
???? Kobasice - We visited Skadarlijske Kobasice for some immensely huge sausages (Skadarlija and Bavarian)
????Knedle - Visit Ferdinand Knedle for some amazing potato dumpling balls, traditonally filled with plums or apricots but we also tried one with chocolate!
????Prebranac - a hearty dish often served as a side dish full of beans, baked in a clay pot.
????Leskovačka Muckalića - a potato/pork and pepper dish also served in a clay pot!

Serbian food is AMAZING! Even better when you have a local to explore with. Igor has an mindblowing amount of information at his fingertips, not only in relation to food but also history! Check out the Belgrade Eats Instagram page for food reviews in Serbian and English -

I hope you enjoyed the video!
