Egouts de Paris - L'envers de la ville lumiere
Chaque jour, près de 3 millions de personnes arpentent la capitale sans jamais songer au trésor caché sous le bitume : les égouts de Paris.
Pas très ragoûtant, a priori.
Pourtant, comment ne pas être fasciné par ces 2 600 kilomètres - l’équivalent de la distance entre Paris et Moscou - de conduits souterrains ?
Ce chef-d’œuvre d’ingéniosité, qui abrite aussi le réseau internet et les câbles d’alimentation des feux de signalisation, date du XIXe siècle.
A cette époque, Napoléon III et le baron Haussmann chargent l’ingénieur Eugène Belgrand d’entreprendre un réseau d’assainissement de la capitale. Un chantier pharaonique qui va durer plusieurs décennies.
