The place of mind-blowing lush green valleys and basalt cliffs, Mykines is blessed with rich birdlife and unbelievable nature.
The boat ride to Mykines from Sorvagur is a breathtaking experience in itself. There are beautiful sights along the route: fjord, sea arches, cliffs.
Mykines is a perfect place for birdwatching. Thousands and thousands of puffins flying over your head.

If you love remote but stunningly beautiful hard-to-reach places then Mykines in the Faroe Islands, in the North Atlantic Ocean is one place you should visit.
You can only reach it by boat or helicopter. Tourist numbers are limited, and tourists can only visit during certain parts of the year. Mykines has a tiny population of people, but lots of sheep, and many thousands of puffins and other sea-faring birds.
Steve Collins spoke to Oda Andreasen, a tourist guide who lives in Mykines, and runs a very small guesthouse. Oda's website is - after listening to her story, if you're adventurous, you may wish to visit beautiful and rugged Mykines.

Mykines has to be the most beautiful island of the Faroe Islands and no visit to the North Atlantic archipelago would be complete without a visit to Mykines.
In this video I'm taking the ferry from Vagar island over to the remote island of Mykines. It is the perfect spot to see the famous puffin birds and do hikes along the stunning coastline.

Sorvaur or Sørvágur is a village on Vágar island in the unbelievable Faroe Islands. The village lies right next to the only airport in the archipielago.

The Faroe Islands is an archipelago halfway between Norway and Iceland. The islands' terrain is rugged and dramatic.
Christa and I had an incredible time exploring and birdwatching on the islands. From the spectacular birdlife to the stunning landscapes, the Faroe Islands are full of surprises.

**When watching and photographing birds, please respect the welfare of birds and their environment. In this video, the behavior of all subject animals was closely monitored to ensure minimal disturbance. The drone footage was shot at a distance to avoid flushing.
