8 Reasons Why Americans LEAVE Costa Rica [Why I Left]

The TRUTH about living in Costa Rica: Why do so many Americans leave Costa Rica after moving there? In this video, I explain what causes expats to change their minds about retiring abroad and why I left Costa Rica after 8 years. Some of the initial reasons that people want to move to Costa Rica include the moderate climate, laid back lifestyle, fresh and healthy food, friendly people, beaches, medical tourism, and the low cost of living. But is Costa Rica really a safe and friendly country or is it actually dangerous and expensive? Once they arrive, many people realize that living in Costa Rica wasn't quite what they expected. Unfortunately, that results in people returning home quite soon after arriving.

After helping more than 500 foreigners move to Costa Rica and living there for eight years, this video explains the top reasons why people move back to the USA and why I left, too, so that you know more about what to expect BEFORE you get there. This is the real and sometimes dark truth about living in Costa Rica. What do you think are the biggest pros and cons of living in Costa Rica? Let us know in the comments.

The Pros and Cons of Living in Portugal

What are the pros and cons of living in Portugal? Hey everyone! Welcome to my channel. Today I'm going to talk about the pros and cons of living in Portugal, a beautiful country located on the Western side of Europe. We'll explore some of its perks, as well as any potential drawbacks that come with it – all so you can make an informed decision if this could be your next home. So, let's dive right in and take a closer look at what life in Portugal has to offer!
Pros of living in Portugal
1. Good weather
Land of sun, sand and sea! It's no wonder that so many people love to live here—not only is it a beautiful country with plenty of culture and history to explore, but the weather is also unbeatable! In fact, it is one of the reasons why many people from around the world have started moving to Portugal.
If you're looking for an idyllic spot where you can bask in some sunshine throughout the year, then look no further than this southern European nation. From mild winters to hot summers, Portugal offers its residents diverse climatic conditions that make living here just perfect.
The average annual temperature in the inland North and Centre is between 6°C and 9°C, while it is higher, exceeding 17°C, in the eastern Algarve and the Guadiana valley.
2. Affordable transportation
Whether you're looking for a quick ride or a longer journey, travelling around Portugal doesn't have to break the bank. For instance, you can take an iconic yellow tram (or eléctrico) up and down Lisbon’s hillside at a fraction of what it would cost in any other major city.
Plus – they even come with their own unique charm! And don't forget about buses - they are both economical and efficient; you'll never be left stranded without transport again.
A bus ride would cost you around $1.6 while the metro and trains would cost you $4.3. If you are a travel person, then moving to Portugal would make sense for you.
3. Tax exemptions
Living in Portugal can be a real joy and one of the biggest benefits is that you don't have to worry about paying hefty taxes. They are taxed on their worldwide income at progressive rates ranging from 14.5% to 20%.
Taxes are one of those things that just seem to suck the life out of you and your pocketbook. But in Portugal, you can enjoy some respite from these unpleasant financial burdens. Tax exemptions allow residents save money while at the same time enjoying all the wonderful offerings this beautiful country has to offer.
4. Good wine
When it comes to wine, Portugal offers up something special. With some of the oldest vineyards in the world, traditional methods are still used to create these classic drinks – ensuring that each bottle has an individual character that can be enjoyed by all. And with such diversity available, it means no matter what type of wine you enjoy there will always be something on offer! If you are into wines, then moving to Portugal would feel like a heaven for you.
But why else should you consider making Portugal your base? Well because good quality Portuguese wines are surprisingly affordable; meaning everyone can experience these unique flavours without breaking the bank.
Finally, if it’s romanced your after then you won’t find anywhere better: few things beat quaffing a glass or two on one of Lisbon's warm summer nights while watching beautiful sunsets over stunning architectural landmarks - simply magical!
5. Great banking system
One of the great things about Portuguese banks is that they offer a wide range of services and features at competitive rates. For example, if you need to send money abroad for business purposes, banks can usually provide you with low fees and fast transfers through their international payment services.
They also provide customers with more sophisticated financial products such as wealth management offerings, insurance coverages and credit cards – all backed by reliable customer service teams who are always willing to take care of any query promptly.

PROS and CONS of living in NEW ZEALAND (Auckland) 2022

If you are new to our channel, HELLO! Thanks for watching our video.

We are Renata, Josh, and Gaia a Kiwi/English family, living in Auckland, New Zealand. Josh and I have always had a love for travel, and we did a lot of travelling together before having Gaia in 2020 (when the world shut down for a bit).

With our borders being closed for the past two years, we haven't travelled with Gaia as much as we imagined, so in May 2022 we quit our jobs to pursuit our dream of full time travel with our toddler. It is only a few days now until we are getting on our first long haul (10.5 hour) flight to start that adventure.

If you'd like to hear more about our plans, you can check out these two videos:
Quitting Our Jobs:
Preparing for full time travel:

Josh & I are both probably a bit biased towards New Zealand, as we absolutely love this country, and feel very lucky to live here. We know that not all kiwi's have the same experience of living in New Zealand, and this is just our personal opinion on what the big pros and cons are.

We hope that you enjoy this video anyway, and that it shares some insight on what living in NZ is really like. If you do enjoy it, please make sure you click the SUBSCRIBE button, and give this video a thumbs up so we know what kind of videos to make in future.

The Pros and Cons of living in Germany

What are the pros and cons of living in Germany? Today we're going to talk about the pros and cons of living in Germany. Germany is an amazing country with a strong economy, lots of culture, great infrastructure, and friendly people - but that doesn't mean it's the right place for everyone! In this video, we'll look at all aspects of life in Germany so you can decide if it's the right move for you. So, let's get started!
Pros
Living in Germany is a great experience. It offers many advantages, both long and short-term, that make it an attractive destination for those considering making the move. Here are some of the pros of living in Germany:
1. Free education
For more than 25 years, Germany has offered tuition-free higher education at public universities, with no charge for most courses and little to no cost for administrative fees.
This means that students coming from all over the world can pursue their degree programs without worrying about expensive tuition costs. Moreover, those studying in certain fields even have access to grants and scholarships which cover living expenses as well!
In addition to this incredible benefit, German universities also provide high quality instruction from some of the finest academic minds in Europe. With famous institutions such as Humboldt University Berlin leading the way in research and innovation, you are sure to receive an excellent standard of learning whether you’re taking up a course on engineering or literature.
2. Drinkable tap water
Living in Germany certainly comes with a lot of perks – from the delicious sausages to the breath-taking cities. But one perk that doesn't often get mentioned is how drinkable tap water in Germany is!
It's true, and it's really quite remarkable! Of course, not all German towns have perfect tap water – but by far most do. In fact, many Germans believe their drinking water is so good because it’s monitored more stringently than other countries. And for sure there are no worries about added chemicals or nasty tastes... What could be better?
3. Unemployment benefits
If find themself out of work due to whatever reason, don't fret – your well-being is taken care of thanks to the German government's generous provisions for unemployment insurance.
Unemployment insurance offers more than just monthly benefits to help you find a job.
For instance, recipients can utilize up to 50% of their benefit to continue their education or training at an accredited institute, making them more marketable for future work.
This feature makes Germany’s system truly unique amongst its counterparts across Europe.
4. Germans are very punctual
Ah, the Germans and their punctuality – it’s one of the foundations of life in Germany. It doesn’t matter if you’re running late to a meeting, eating dinner with friends or just taking the bus; if you live in Germany and don't arrive on time, be prepared to get some judging looks!
For those unfamiliar with German culture, schedules and arrival times can seem like an implicit expectation. People may start mentally counting down five minutes before your planned arrival time but being fashionably late is not accepted here!

Living in Italy Pros and Cons - Living and Working in Italy

Living in Italy, pros and cons... to say the least you will find many. Although you'll find that for any country you might decide to move to when moving abroad. When thinking about moving to Italy it's important to take everything into account, the big things and the small things. In my own opinion if you're getting or have already gotten dual Italian citizenship through Jure Sanguinis, I think regardless of the pros and cons it's worth getting to know your homeland a bit better. But I might just be biassed ;)
Whether you're coming to Italy because of your ancestry or if youre thinking about living in italy as a foreigner or living in Italy as an american, it's all has the potential to be a great experience. Life in Italy is what you make it.

Mexico City: Pros & Cons of Living There

Over the past few years, Mexico City has become increasingly popular with foreign residents, and especially digital nomads.

The influx of people willing to pay more for rent and other services is being blamed for gentrification in popular neighborhoods like Polanco, La Condesa and Roma Norte.

As basic costs of living increase, the locals are being forced out, and they're not happy about it.

Since we're in the business of exploring popular areas where expats and digital nomads like to live, we couldn't really cross this hotspot off our list.

However, we were very hesitant to go there. We didn’t know what to expect or if we’d even be welcome.

We did enjoy our time in CDMX. It has a lot of great things going for it, but several drawbacks and one thing in particular that will probably keep us from going back.

So in this video, we talk about the pros & cons of Mexico City.

In Zug, for example, the same 100 thousand francs would be taxed at only 7.5%! Less than one-third of the taxation burden of Basel and one of the lowest in Europe! In France, this same income would put you in the income tax rate bracket of 41%. The second pro to retiring in Switzerland is healthcare. And here we are talking about private healthcare, because Switzerland doesn't exactly have a traditional public healthcare system. Instead, they have mandatory health insurance for all residents. Switzerland is above countries like the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, and Israel in terms of healthcare quality. being considered by many to be the place with the highest concentration of top-grade hospitals in the world. The third positive aspect of living and retiring in Switzerland is safety. The homicide rate in Switzerland is 0.5, way below the OECD average. They also have four languages, and that allows for multiple possibilities because every language has a different cultural heritage. There are enormous lifestyle differences between the German part, the French part, and the Italian part (there is also the Romansch part but nobody talks about them really that much). This is what one resident of Switzerland told us (open quote): If you drive four hours from St. Gallen to Geneva, you drive through at least two different languages (German and French) and at least nine dialects. And you have to consider that we constantly mock other cantons for being different (and nobody likes Zurich, sorry guys). If you one day move to Switzerland, use this wonderful characteristic of this country to learn German, French, Italian, or even Romansch. Well, now that you know the major pros of living and retiring in Switzerland, let's talk about the cons
