MARTINIQUE, FRENCH ANTILLES - Travel Guide with ALL top 10 sights in 4K

Martinique is part of Caribbean France, also known as the French Antilles. The island is especially popular with French tourists, but actually a great destination for Europeans or Americans. Martinique is definitely worth it, especially because flying to this island is not very expensive from Paris, LA, London or Amsterdam. What is there to do? Amazing beaches, waterfalls, a special botanical garden and endless tropical rainforest! Watch the video and see how we start a trip through the Caribbean in Martinique.

From Martinique we visit many more hidden gems in the Caribbean, but now you can already see some of the highlights. We sleep in Saint Pierre, visit the top of Mont Pelée, stand under the waterfall Saut Gendarme, snorkel in Anse Dufour and Anne Noire and stroll over the most beautiful beaches called Plage du Diamant and Plage des Salines. Also, the video shows many different accommodations in very different areas on the island.

This year we travel all over the world and after the Canary Islands, Oman and Cape Verde, Martinique is our fourth destination. Follow us on this world trip, first in Martinique and then to many more beautiful destinations! We travel non-stop all year round and film everything. MARTINIQUE - TRAVEL GUIDE - 1 DAY IN PARADISE - 2023 - 4K

Martinique is a rugged Caribbean island that’s part of the Lesser Antilles. An overseas region of France, its culture reflects a distinctive blend of French and West Indian influences. Its largest town, Fort-de-France, features steep hills, narrow streets and La Savane, a garden bordered by shops and cafes. In the garden is a statue of island native Joséphine de Beauharnais, first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Anse Dufour - a visit to this place will take you back forty years. Authentic beach in the southwest of the island in the small bay with white, sometimes golden sand. The bottom of the bay is rocky on both sides. This area attracts many researchers of sea bottom. There are a lot of fishing boats and pelicans, shamelessly snatching the catch of the sea workers.

Pelicans, black sand and big palm trees... Anse Noire is really exotic beach in the truest sense of the word! There is a decrepit hut on the beach, where it is possible to rent a canoe and to go on a voyage along the beach. Also, many vacationers are attached to fascinating snorkeling: like everything else, underwater living creatures and vegetation are very exotic here as well.

Martinique, A Tour Of The Island.

A visit of the the French island of Martinique 280 miles off the coast of Venezuela. The tropical island is a paradise of many different climates and many sights. Beautiful palm tree lined beaches, lush vegetation in the jungle, spectacular sunsets on the West side and Montagne Pelée, a dormant volcano are just some of the rich attractions of this South Caribbean gem.
My trip takes you to many of the coastal towns as well as a drive in the center of the island through rain drenched wild jungle roads to the banana plantations in the North. Iguanas and lizards are part of the trip a well as beautiful flowers that bloom all year long. Martinique also boasts quite a number of beautiful churches, many dating to the 17th century. One particularity of these churches is that the woodwork beneath the roofs are in the shape of upside down ship hulls, as they were built by naval carpenters.
Martinique is a French overseas territory of 1,128 square kilometers (436 sq miles) with a population of 385,551 inhabitants.

We take a walk through Fort-de-France, Martinique.

We were there in April 2019.

10 Exciting Things to Do While in Martinique

Get more Tips here!

In the eastern Caribbean, you’ll find Martinique. You’ll find no shortage of pristine beaches, delicious French cuisine, and rugged scenery. If you’ll be heading out to this region, here are 12 exciting things to place on your to-do list.

1. Shop In Pointe du Bout
This resort region has streets lined with ice cream shops, cafés, and restaurants. When you’re done shopping, a ferry service can whisk you away across the bay to Anse Mitan where you can enjoy a drink, snorkel, or just soak up the sun.

2. Dive Off Diamond Rock
It is a volcanic mound that’s one of the best diving sites in Martinique. The rock is also known for its deep underwater caves and the abundance of fish, corals, and sponges that can be found beneath the water.

3. See the Black Sand Beach at Grand-Rivière
The black sand of this small fishing village is definitely a sight to be seen! This area is also full of charming seafood restaurants, as well as hiking trails for you to burn off those extra calories when you’re all done.

4. Shop for Herbs at the Grand Marche
Also known as the Spice Market, Grand Marche is the place to visit to find regional herbs you can’t find back at home. From from dried bois bandé, jerk seasoning, and the freshest cinnamon, you’ll definitely be in herb heaven (herb-en)!

5. Explore the History of Saint-Pierre
Saint-Pierre was the cultural center of Martinique up until Mount Pelée erupted and destroyed the town back in 1902. Nowadays, many of the ruins can still be viewed, like the old theater, and a row of single story houses.

6. Tour Musée de la Pagerie
Napoleon’s wife Josephine, was born in this Museum. This stone cottage has been restored and now includes some of her personal property, including love letters from the French Emperor and childhood artifacts.

7. Explore Gorges de la Falaise
This hike up will lead you to dazzling waterfalls and sparkling rivers that are great for swimming. Surrounded by thick forests, this is one of the most picturesque areas in all of Martinique.

8. Hike Through Caravelle Peninsula
Nature lovers can wander their way through rugged terrain next to the gorgeous coastline and the beautiful forest. At the end of the trail, you’ll find Tartane – a small beach known for having the best swells in Martinique.

9. Listen to Music at Le Carbet
This is said to be the landing site of Christopher Columbus back in 1502. Today, it’s a beachside venue where musicians can perform their songs for visitors and the locals. Enjoy the sunset while the music plays in the background!

10. Sip a Cocktail at Les Salines
These white sand beaches are located at the southern tip of Martinique. There’s no shortage of things to do here, from swimming to snorkeling. If you’re looking for some R&R, grab a rum punch, pull up a beach chair, and unwind!

P&O Arvia - STUNNING beach in Martinique! Vlog 4

Welcome to our fourth P&O Arvia Caribbean cruise series vlog! Today, P&O Arvia is in Martinique and we've got an exciting day planned as we've booked another excursion with Caribbean Island Tours on Facebook:

Todays excursion takes us around the south coast of Martinique and includes the following stops:

We visit at the village de la poterie (potter village) before we have a chance to snorkle at Beach Anse d'arlet . After that we head to the view point for Rocher du diamant and then try shots of rum at rum factory Trois-Rivieres. To end the day we visit the stunning beach of Les Salines before finally return via the south-western coast.

Back onboard we spend some more time at the swim up bar before heading to the Glass House for dinner - we also witness the spectacular pop up show in the main atrium.

Our vlogs aim to bring you along with us, they are fun and hopefully informative, if you are looking for in-depth information rather than a vlog be sure to check out our P&O Arvia Lets Talk Ship reviews over on our playlist:

???????????? About Us - Who are the Cruise Monkeys?
We are bananas about cruising! We started cruising in 2014 by doing a mini cruise on P&O Aurora. Making videos of our cruises and sharing our experiences has become our hobby – the complete video is filmed and edited on an iPhone. The videos are our opinions and experiences while on board - really they are us having fun and brining you along with us!

We may not be the youngest cruisers but we are trying to break the stereotype that cruising is for retired people. On a cruise you will normally find us wondering around the ship taking in the atmosphere (and working our way through the cocktails).

We have sailed on P&O Cruises, Cunard Line, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Avalon Waterways. We'd love to try Ambassador Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Fred Olsen, Holland America (HAL), Celebrity, Disney Cruises, Carnival Cruises, Costa, Aida, Marella and Celestyal.
