In 2011 we travel to Liuwa Plains in Zambia to see Lady Liuwa, the last lioness in Liuwa Plains. We also witness the 2nd largest Wildebeest migration in Africa. We cross the Barotse plains and camp wild. What an experience!

Time for Family... The legend of Lady Liuwa - Liuwa Plain, Zambia
The TIME + TIDE family had previously expanded into the Liuwa Plain, the land of the Lozi people. This is where we encountered a family living in nature alone. Lady Liuwa was the last lioness in Liuwa Plain. After many conservation efforts, a Lady Liuwa pride emerged and her family expanded. After 17 years and a rich life, Lady Liuwa sadly passed away in 2017.
Liuwa is a story of a family reborn.

Also known as Sioma Falls because these Falls are near the village of Sioma. These beautiful Falls mark the transition point of the Zambezi Rivers’ flow from the Kalahari sand floodplain to basalt dyke – the latter eventually contributing to the magnificent gorges of Victoria Falls.
The horseshoe-shaped Ngonye Falls are mostly impressive because of the sheer volume of water that cascades over the staggered, twenty-meter drop. An interesting aspect is that the river flows underneath the rock on either side of the falls. It is quite remarkable to stand upon them, feeling and hearing the underground flow.

Liuwa Plain campsites, Liuwa Plain NP - Zambia
Liuwa Plain National Park offers four remote campsites (each with accommodation for 20 people in four tent sites) for self-sufficient campers with their own 4x4 vehicles.
Except for Sikale, each has flushing toilets, hot showers and camp attendants who assist with cleaning the ablutions and the sites. The ablutions have solar lights, but there are no charging points or plug points. Sikale is a wilderness campsite with no facilities.
Non-drinkable water is available at the campsites - bring your own drinking water. Wood is available for purchase at the park's main reception and in Kalabo town.
Emergency evacuation services are provided by SATIB24.
