Magical Lake Atitlan Guatemala Travel Guide 4K
In this Lake Atitlan travel guide we explore 5 villages around the lake. Including Santiago De Atitlan, San Juan La Laguna, Santa Catarina, San Antonio Palopo and Panajachel. I would say this is the best place to visit in Guatemala because there are many villages to explore around the lake and culture to explore. But best of all is probably going to be the incredible natural beauty and scenery of the lake Atitlan.
There are a few towns around the lake also worth mentioning but we did not go. Such as San Marcos, which is popular with new age explorers, San Pedro La Laguna with foreign tourist and San Lucas for its proximity outside of the lake region to the Pacific Ocean. Our travel guide is from Santa Cruz La Laguna and says that one is the best. If you can get around to many of the towns and villages you will certainly feel culturally enriched and as if you really met the Mayan people.

There are many towns surrounding the lake but we chose to base ourselves in Panajachel and take a day trip over to San Juan la Laguna. In this Guatemala Travel Guide we are going to show you how to get to Lake Atitlan from Antigua, Guatemala and then show you a bit around Panajachel and San Juan la Laguna, two wonderful villages on Lake Atitlan. Lake Atitlan in Guatemala is known for its amazing natural scenery, Alexander von Humboldt called it the most beautiful lake in the world. Lake Atitlan is 130 square km large and 340 meters deep, it is a volcanic lake with 3 volcanoes on one side, surrounded by mountains and towns where Maya culture is still alive.
