Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2004 | Packing the best of Paris into one episode, we scale the Eiffel Tower, bask in medieval majesty at Notre-Dame Cathedral, stroll Montmartre and its Sacré Cœur church, study the Latin Quarter, remember the Revolution at Place de la Concorde, saunter the Champs-Elysées, get impressed by the Orsay Museum, bone up on Paris's past at the Carnavalet Museum — and in the catacombs, and sample the artistic high life at the Jacquemart-André Museum. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #paris

Paris: Regal and Intimate

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2012 | In Paris, amidst all of its grandeur, the little joys of life are still embraced. In this first of two episodes on Paris, we'll cruise the Seine River, visit Napoleon's tomb, and take in the Louvre. Then we'll feel the pulse of Paris — shopping in village-like neighborhoods, attending church in a grand pipe organ loft, and celebrating the mother of all revolutions with a big, patriotic Bastille Day bang. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #paris

Paris - City Video Guide

On the banks of the river Seine in northern France, Paris attracts 42 million visitors a year, making it the most visited city in the world.

Beginning at the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées runs along the Historic Axis. This grand avenue is where Parisians come to eat, drink, shop, enjoy the theater and celebrate life. It merges into the largest square in Paris, the Place de la Concorde.

A short stroll away is the world's most visited museum, the Musée du Louvre, and modern art at the Centre Pompidou. The neighborhood of Montmartre, with its winding streets, was once home to Picasso, Dali and Van Gogh

There's no more famous Parisian icon than the Eiffel Tower, which can be seen from all over the city. Other unmissable landmarks include the Notre Dame Cathedral and gleaming white Sacré-Cœur Basilica.

The city's many attractions are never far apart, and in between visitors can enjoy a serene stroll through picture-postcard streets of Paris.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Paris: Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Catacombs

Our trip to the City of Love, Paris, France to explore The Catacombs, ride bikes around Versailles, add a lock to Lover's Bridge, and see the Eiffel Tower at night from the Arch de Triomph and from below.

TOP TRAVEL TIPS:
*Eat at La Candelaria, it was some of the best food in the whole city.
*The Gardens of Versailles are free! If you want to save money and time, and aviod crowds, skip getting the tour. I included very little video from inside because the outside of the palace is more impressive.
*The bike rentals are available in a few locations around the palace grounds. Check the maps to find the nearest rental station.
*Go to the Catacombs early, like before it opens! We showed up right when they opened and waited over 2 hours to get in, but they are very interesting to see and experience, and worth going to.
*Lovers Bridge may not allow locks anymore sometime soon. They had several boarded up sections on the bridge
*The Eiffel tower sparkles at different times at night. So spend a few hours and watch the sunset and the lights go off. It's one of the best things to do in Paris.

Our tour of Paris included:
(0:00) Walking the Catacombs
(0:55) Versailles:
(1:00) Tour of the inside of the Palace of Versailles, including The Hall of Mirrors
(1:15) Walked around the gardens of Versailles
(1:35) Rented bicycles to see the entire gardens and grounds of Versailles.
(2:44) Added our lock to Lover's Bridge
(3:20) Went to and up the Arc de Triomphe at sunset
(4:15) Watched the Eiffel Tower light up, sparkle and walked beneath it at night.

A Short Paris Travel Guide

My sister and I spent five blissful days in Paris sightseeing, eating to our heart's content, and just generally taking in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Follow along as we explore Versailles, the Louvre, Le Marais, Montmartre, and so many other charming spots!

I've changed things up slightly with this video by actually narrating it instead of just stringing together tons of unrelated clips---so you'll get a bit of history sprinkled in as well. Nothing draws in youtube views quite like unsolicited history lessons, as we all know.

During our five day trip, we were able to see, in no particular order:
Le Marche des Enfants Rouges*
shopping in Le Marais
Petit Palais
Eiffel Tower
Musee de la Vie Romantique
Musee des Arts Decoratifs*
Galeries Viviennes*
Les Halles*
L'As Du Falafel
Versailles (and the Petit Trianon + Hameau de la Reine)
Musee D'Orsay
Shakespeare and Co
Galeries Lafayette
Le Bon Marche
Les Bateaux Parisiens (Seine boat cruise)
The Louvre
Palais Royal courtyard
Champs-Elysees
Golden Triangle/Avenue Montaigne*
Montmartre
Sacre Coeur

(sites that didn't make it into the video are marked with an asterisk)
