Hellish Boat life in Niue - We Should NOT be Here! ~ Vlog 71

The MOST INCREDIBLE REMOTE ISLAND You've Never Heard Of

We've sailed to an unknown island paradise with good food, clear water, and insane hikes. Niue is the most amazing destination we never knew existed.
Behind the Scenes:

Without your support, these vids wouldn't be possible…THANK YOU from the bottom of our salty hearts. ????

???? AWESOME tunes for vids:
- Artists: Giants and Pilgrims (intro), Russo, Rex Banner, Red City Hero, Russo and Weinberg

What a spectacular atoll! We were blown away after the first hike and our first lunch. The crystal clear water is unbelievable. The terrain is unforgivingly unique. And I hope the cave formations came out in the video. Smiles were glued to our faces here in Niue and I'm so sad our time was cut short so abruptly.

Never fear, if you liked this part of Niue just wait until next time! We take on a crazy hike filled with spiders and blind jumps into hidden pools. Then we top it off with a SCUBA dive with our new friends Expedition Drenched. It's one helluva sendoff that leaves us craving even more of this island paradise.

Living #OffTheGrid on a Sailboat for us is all about creating a more sustainable way of life. The more of the world we see, the more we want to preserve it. But, living off the grid doesn’t have to mean sacrificing modern comforts. We believe self-sustainability and comfort can coexist.

From RV to sailboat we’ve lived off the grid for ten years and have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water and managing waste. You can learn more over on our website:

⭐ After you hit that play button we'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. We read every comment and do our best to respond to as many as we can. We create these vids for you, and we always welcome quality feedback.

We have to leave NOW! 48 hours in Niue (S1 Episode 5)

Bad weather is on it's way and it's time to GET OUTTA HERE! After sailing 1500 miles from New Zealand to Niue, we finally make landfall only to find out that there's huge westerly swells coming in that will force us to head west to Tonga. We make the most of the time we have and have the awesome opportunity to meet up with Nikki and Jason Wynn From Gone With The Wynn's. They're scuba diving lovers just like us, so we go on a little mission together and do some amazing cave diving and get up close and personal with the endemic katuali or flat tail sea snake.

Expedition drenched is a U.S. based marine educational non profit 501-c made possible by our donors and patrons. For more information on our project visit:

The time has come to leave the Cook Islands...well, technically the time has passed because our tourist visa expired while we were riding out the never ending blow in Palmerston. The weather has settled and we have a very small window to sail to the tiny island of Niue.

Our seas are stunning, the down wind sail is perfect and the cats are loving the smooth ride. Until Mother Nature decides to throw us a curve ball: 30+ knots of wind for 24 hours straight. There's a massive weather system blowing 60+ just south of us, so the waves build in no time!

The waves don't look huge from the video but believe me when we tell you they were crashing over the hard top. That means they were at least 15 feet tall! Whew, the force of those waves remind us just how powerful the seas can be.

Thanks for watching and please, if you enjoyed this video send it to a friend! It helps us tremendously.

Truck Ride From The West To The East Side On Niue Island!

Travel to Niue |Niue | moving to Niue | walking in Niue| living in niue | niue documentary

Niue is a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. It’s known for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites. Migrating whales swim in Niue's waters between July and October. In the southeast is the Huvalu Forest Conservation Area, where trails through fossilized coral forests lead to the Togo and Vaikona chasms. The northwest is home to the rock pools of Avaiki Cave and the naturally formed Talava Arches.

Niue Village's Takai | Tuapa, Mutalau, Tamakautoga & Hakupu. | Round the Island Celebrations.

The main takai day on Niue mainly falls on the second Saturday of January every year.
This is when villages or groups would do up their rides and travel around the whole Island celebrating.

The whole week leading up to this Saturday is actually the takai week where villages and groups can go on their takai. Some groups also cycle or walk around the Island during this time. (About 60km total distance.)

The hype and vibe on this day, collectively, is the biggest in relation to any other celebration that we have here. Bigger than our self governing celebrations in October also, in my opinion.

Overall it was an enjoyable and a fun day for all.

Our WORST PASSAGE So Far!! Ep. 11

Join us on our first 1000+ mile double handed sail, when we experience our worst passage so far! Since it's a mostly upwind sail, with big swell and multiple weather fronts rolling through, we understand why many circumnavigators say this is probably their roughest passage.

Leaving the US East Coast in Fall, we tried to squeeze between early winter storms at the start and get across the gulf stream safely, then avoid late season tropical storms as we got close to the Caribbean. With highly unpredictable weather at the change of seasons, we don't quite nail it.

Hope you enjoy!

Ep 5. Dutch Harbor & The Bering Sea - The Northwest Passage 2023 on S/V Terra Nova

Seattle to Nome Alaska! We estimate that we sailed roughly 2400 nm and we still haven't started the Northwest Passage yet! But there's been lots of cool things along the way - Here is Dutch harbor on Unalaska Island. We visited two museums; one about the Aleut People and one about WWII and the Aleutian Islands. Next, we visited St. George Island, a birders haven and a glimpse into the past of the fur trade industry. From there we set sail to Nome Alaska, the last major town for a few thousand miles until we reach the Southwest Coast of Greenland.
