We kept hearing so much about how amazing, secluded, and undiscovered Montenegro was before going, so we were excited to check it out for ourselves. Is it still an underrated and private beach destination?

We are Oskar & Dan, two boys from Sweden who decided to change the course of our lives, drop out of university and live life full-time. We're planning to visit every country in the world before we're 30. By the time of posting this video, we're both 24 :)

Montenegro was country #74/197????

We started our Balkan road trip in Zagreb before driving down through the shockingly beautiful country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After being absolutely spellbound by the beauty there, we moved on to country number two of the trip: Montenegro. We visited Budva, Kotor, Tivat and more!

Is PODGORICA Worth Visiting? A Tour of MONTENEGRO’S Capital City!

Is Podgorica worth visiting? The general consensus seemed to be no so I went anyway! Join me on a tour of all the main sights (Millenium Bridge, Old Town) in one of Europe’s least visited capitals.
???????? You can see all of my MONTENEGRO videos here →

My objective was to find out what there is to do in Podgorica and what the most interesting places to visit are in the city. This is the grand finale to my week long Montenegro road trip and I was determined to make it a memorable one!

Although I arrived in Podgorica Montenegro late in the afternoon I was still determined to see as much as I could - including both the new and old parts of the city, the recently finished Serbian Orthodox Cathedral (Саборни Храм Христовог Васкрсења) and the landmark fountains in Independence Square (Трг независности).

As I walked around I realised the city has much more to offer than it gets credit for and I wondered if it gets overlooked because there are so many other incredible places to visit in Montenegro.

After strolling across another new addition to the city skyline – the Millennium Bridge (Мост Миленијум), I headed into the old town with the hope of seeing some historic mosques and an old clock tower built by the Ottomans in the 17th century.

The river area was really interesting and I saw the Old Ribnica River Bridge (Stari Most Bećir Bega Osmanagića) and the historic ruins of Depedogen Castle (Tvrđava Depedogen). I then made my way through the old houses passing Starodoganjska Mosque (Стародогањска џамија) and the Osmanagic Mosque (Џамија Османагића) on my way.

It was great to be able to walk around at my own pace and do a little bit of sightseeing instead of joining an organised walking tour of Podgorica.

My road trip through Montenegro was amazing and I enjoyed every moment of it! The mountain trails, fortified cities, natural wonders, beach resorts, historical fortresses, hilltop towns, great lakes, national parks and those narrow, winding roads were all part of an experience I’ll never forget.

Thanks for joining me on the journey and let me know in the comments what you think about Podgorica? Would you include it in your itinerary? See you in the next country!

OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MONTENEGRO (KOTOR)

We have made it to our 14th country of the year, and it's none other than Montenegro. The first place we decided to visit here in Montenegro is the BEAUTIFUL town of Kotor. Located on the coast of Kotor Bay, we were not ready for how beautiful this place would be. Surrounded by mountains, and 360 degrees of beauty, this place is somewhere you must visit when coming to Montenegro. In Kotor, we check out the Old Town of Kotor, we walk around the bay, and then we decide to take a tour around the bay to visit the artificial island Our Lady of the Rocks. We also briefly visit another town called Perast. When we return to Kotor in the afternoon, we do an incredible hike that gives us beautiful views of Kotor bay from the top.

The million dollar question. We are always searching for new locations, and having bought and sold over the years in multiple countries, we are now focused with multiple projects in Montenegro.

Why Montenegro?
We were searching for a foreign real estate market that is undervalued and has great multi-year appreciation potential. Montenegro is a breathtakingly beautiful small country, with only 600,000 inhabitants and slightly smaller than the state of Connecticut in the US. With low cost property options, taxes between 9% to 15% max (on capital gains and income), and a great legal infrastructure. It outperformed the other countries we compared it to in our analysis. Montenegro is in a unique situation where demand is rising rapidly as foreign investors jump on the opportunity, creating rapid appreciation for those investing now.

Why invest overseas?
Demand for offshore real estate has sky rocketed since the crisis, many people can now work remotely from home in beautiful places by the sea, people are looking to retire in the sun, and tourism is bouncing back strong. It's a great way to diversify risks in your real estate investment portfolio.

ABOUT US:
We specialize in investments in Real Estate in beautiful locations around the world that are at affordable costs, and can deliver short-term rental revenue and high capital appreciation. We’ve bought, sold, renovated or leased high-end properties or land in stunning locations, including the Swiss Alps, Costa Rica, the South of France, Sardinia, under the blue skies of Florida and Arizona, and now our focus is on Montenegro

We are currently specialized on Montenegro as we believe this is one of the best real estate markets in Europe. We've built a strong network in Montenegro of realtors, lawyers, notary, architects, and builders. Exploring KOTOR, MONTENEGRÓ! (Our Day Trip Travel Guide)

This is our travel guide for what to do on the perfect day trip to KOTOR, MONTENEGRÓ!

Today we're in Kotor, Montenegró! Kotor, Montenegró is a beautiful port town in the northeastern region of Montenegró. Situated perfectly in the back of the Bay of Kotor, it is a major tourist destination for people who love cruising the Adriatic Sea.

First on our agenda for Kotor is a hike to the Kotor Fortress. The Kotor Fortress is NO JOKE GUYS! It's a long, 1350 steps up from the back of Kotor's Old Town. If you're like Trey & have a serious fear of heights then you may want to plan ahead, but it was so worth it! The hike took a couple of hours & is 8 euros each but the views of Kotor Bay are unbeatable.

From there we made our way back down to Old Town were we spent some time meandering through the alleyways & cobblestone streets. While walking through we stopped at Kotor Cathedral. Kotor Cathedral is a 12th-century Roman Catholic cathedral & is considered the center of Old Town. This area is truly stunning & so worth the admission fee of 3 euros.

From there we exited Old Town through Kotor's River (North) Gate & up the street to our FAVORITE food spot, Delicious Burgers. We ended up eating here a few times while visiting Kotor & loved every bite!! The owners were incredibly kind to us & really did an amazing job of making us feel at home while visiting the town. We HIGHLY recommend making this a stop when you're in Kotor. Below is a link to their Instagram where you can give our new friends a follow & to keep up with the latest surrounding this amazing restaurant:

After leaving Delicious Burgers, it was time to head the short 20 minutes around the bay to the gorgeous town of Perast, Montenegró. Perast is one of the highlights of the Bay of Kotor, & it's two islands are arguably the most picturesque parts of the country! We arrived & hired a boat guide to give us a ride to Our Lady of the Rocks. This church is of Roman Catholic faith & is highly toured throughout the year due to its outstanding views from the center of the bay. We stayed for about 30 minutes before heading back to the shore where we wrapped up the day walking through Perast.

We hope you enjoyed this vlog & we'd love for you to subscribe if you're new!! Thank you so much for tuning in & we'll see you in our next vlog soon!!

KOTOR, MONTENEGRO (2023) | 10 Best Things To Do In & Around Kotor

Kotor is a medieval town located in a secluded corner of the stunning Bay of Kotor. In this video, we’ll show you 10 of the best things to do in and around this magical town.

???? Rent a car in Montenegro:
???? Recommended stay - Casa del Sole Lux (the host is lovely!!):

10. Explore the old town
Wander the maze of narrow streets and simply enjoy the architecture. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, this old town has a lot of character. From its decorated gates, to its orthodox and catholic churches, cozy squares, and Venetian palaces, every corner holds a story.

☑️ Kotor private walking tour with food & wine tasting:

9. Walk the city walls
Covering about 4.5 kilometers or 3 miles, the thick walls were built to protect the town, which was an important naval and trading center. Today, the walls are crumbling in some sections and it isn’t possible to walk all the way around the Old Town. But there are still several parts that you can easily access, such as the Gurdić Bastion and the Kampana Tower.

8. Visit a museum
The old town of Kotor is home to a few interesting museums, such as the Cats Museum and the Maritime Museum.

7. Watch the sunset from the fortress
Above Kotor’s city walls, you can find old St. John’s fortress. You’ll have to walk 1,350 steps to get there. The best time to visit is in the early morning or an hour or two before sunset as it’s generally a bit cooler and the light is best for pictures. Find the trail entrance behind the Church of St. Mary Collegiate.

6. Cool down at Kotor beach
Kotor doesn’t have any long beaches, but small ones are scattered around the bay. The closest one is Kotor Beach, which can be found right outside the old town. Alternatively, head to Orahovac or Bajova Kula beach on the way to Perast.

5. Try Montenegrin wine
Kotor’s old town is filled with a variety of charming restaurants and bars where you can sample the local cuisine and wine. Some bars offer wine tastings where you can try indigenous Vranac wine, such as the Old Winery Wine Bar.

4. Explore nearby Perast
The Bay of Kotor is dotted with picturesque villages, but nearby Perast might be the most charming one.

3. Go on a boat tour in the bay
During a 3-hour tour you visit the church on the man-made island of Our Lady of the Rocks, pass through a cave where submarines used to be hidden, spot the old prison on Mamula Island, and swim in the magical Blue Cave.

☑️ Boat tour of the Bay + Blue Cave from Kotor:

2. Hike the Ladder of Kotor
The Ladder of Kotor is an old caravan trail that used to connect Kotor with the old capital of Montenegro. The switchback trail offers some breathtaking views of the Bay of Kotor.

1. Drive the serpentine road to Lovćen National Park
From Kotor, it’s a short 45 minute drive to Mt Lovćen National Park via a narrow serpentine road that takes you up to the mountains. Driving this road is a thrilling experience and you can stop at one of the many viewpoints.

// OUR STORY
We're professional dancers who decided to try something new. Figure skating is usually perceived as a kid's activity and often adults feel like it's too late for them to start.
We decided to ditch this notion and prove with our example that it's never too late to try something new.
We hope our experience of learning ice skating as beginner adults (which is also a great workout) will inspire you to get active and get in shape and go after those points on your bucket list, too!
Follow our ice skating journey and be a part of our ice skating progression with our ice skating vlog every Thursday. Hope you enjoy our ice skating channel.
