Things NOT To Do in Finland - Part 2

Part 2 of Things NOT To Do in Finland!
7. Keep Your PDA in Check
Obviously it’s fine to hold hands, but the Finns are pretty stoic, so don’t expect them to enjoy you kissing your spouse in public.

8. Don’t Wear Shoes in the House
If there’s a conveniently placed pile of shoes at the door, go ahead and take your shoes off, too.

9. Don’t Expect to Eat Any Peels
The typical Finnish person doesn’t actually eat the peels or rinds of any vegetable! Their concern is for the potential chemicals that are found on the outside of fruit and veg.

10. Don’t Brag
The rule of thumb throughout the country is modesty, so keep it in mind when describing yourself to locals.

11. Don’t Speak Ill of Finnish Hockey
You will get your behind kicked. Fair warning.

12. Don’t Be Afraid to Open Up
Finns might seem like mean people who just want you to stop talking, but that stoic veneer blocks a kind and warm-hearted people.

Where do you want to know what NOT to do in next?

Visit Finland - 10 Things That Will SHOCK You About Finland

Finland or Suomi is the land of eternal sunshine in the summer, more lakes than you can imagine, and possibly the grossest candy on the planet? Finland is an amazing country to visit and whether it is the breathtaking nature, the kind yet quiet Finnish people, or the endless times you will visit the sauna there will always be things that may shock a tourist when they visit Finland.

10 Things That Shock Tourists about Visiting Finland
1. The Sauna Culture: Do expect to head into a sauna during your time in Finland. It is such a part of the culture that people have them built into their homes, and yes do expect to go naked and run out and jump into the snow for a little extra fun.
2. The Finns Can Talk While Inhaling: the Finns have so much to say when they do talk that they actually can talk while they exhale and while they inhale. Quite a sight when you see it for the first time.
3. The Natural Beauty of Finland: from the lakes and forests to the parks and islands Finland boasts a ton of nature and the locals love it. So whether it is skiing in Lapland or mushroom hunting or visiting the archipelago islands you will see so much beauty in Finland.
4. How Quiet the Finns Can Be: the Finns enjoy silence and you will see that in stores, on the street, and especially on public transportation. So do keep it down.
5. How Clean Finland Is: from pristine forests, to amazing clean and crisp air, to the locals having pride and keeping their cities and towns clean, Finns do love a clean country. Oh, and never wear your shoes in someones house.
6. Finnish Tasty Treats: Salmiakki is the child of black licorice and salt, and I mean that in the least tastiest way possible. The Finns love salmiakki candy (and Finland has a ton of great candy aside form Salmiakki). So be prepared for some great tasty treats, like their cinnamon rolls and anything made with mushrooms and do watch out for the funny ones.
7. How Difficult the Finnish Language Is: luckily for tourists most Finns speak very good English, so you do not need to speak any Finnish. The Finnish language is considered one of the most difficult languages to learn and when you see all those vowels you will understand why.
8. The Cities Have Two Names: in Finland, Finnish and Swedish are the two official languages and so all the signs on the highway are in Finnish and Swedish. This can lead to a bit of confusion when the cities don't have similar names in both languages, for example Turku is Turku in English and Finnish, but Abo in Swedish.
9. Finnish Logic: for as smart and clever as the Finns are some foreigners sometimes get lost in Finnish logic. When you see something around the country that just doesn't quite make sense, just chalk it up to Finnish logic.
10. You Have to Go to a Government Store to Buy Hard Alcohol: if you want to grab a bottle of Finlandia Vodka in Helsinki you can't just head to the local grocery store. You have to go to Alko, the government run liquor store. The prices are high and the hours are strange, but it is the only place to go.

7 things not to do in Finland as a Tourist

Finland attracted over 3,1 million foreign tourists in 2017, with most, 1,5 million, coming from European Union states. In 2013 the value added by tourism was about 2.5% of the Finnish GDP, and provided around 136 700 jobs.
Here, we will be informing seven things which you must avoid while travelling to Finland!!
Don’t Be Afraid if you see nakedness. In Finland, the entire society is much less body conscious than we are in the United States. If u see some people naked then don’t be afraid, there are a lot of this type of people by the way. It’s best to be cool and go with it. You’ll have a better time.
Tip everyone by default. By all means do so if you received exceptional service, but you should not feel the pressure to tip. As a rule, there is no tipping in Finland.
A tourist in Finland should not keep to cities only. For an authentic experience, stay in a log cabin in the Lake District or Lapland. Go boating in the outer archipelago, visit Maarianhamina (Mariehamn) or the Bengtskär lighthouse for example.
Make a pretty tight schedule and stick to it. When you’re visiting Finland, it’s best to keep a pretty solid schedule and stick to it. Especially if u visit any house or some local. They will not like if u visit them at a wrong time.
Don’t wear shoes in house. Take a glance or look where are the other shoes are kept..keep ur shoes there.
Don't make commitments that you do not intend to keep. Finns are very literal and punctual. If you say “Let’s have lunch” Finns will plan to have lunch with you. We do not do small talk. Same goes the other way. If a Finn invites you to a function, either show up or decline clearly.
Stay on the beaten path. Many of the best sights and experiences in Finland are not part of the official tours. A tourist in Finland should not be afraid to explore. This is a very safe country with excellent cell phone coverage in case you get lost.

Finally we finish in Helsinki, Finlands Capital and take a day trip to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia just across the water via Ferry.

Finland is a nature-rich North-European country that is located between Sweden and Norway in the West and Russia in the East. When we hear Finland, we think about the beautiful Northern lights, midnight sun, and dogsled rides. This country not only holds stunning natural beauty but also rich art and historic architecture. Finland has a unique geographical setting with 188,000 lakes and 179,000 islands which makes it a peaceful and serene getaway in Europe. This Nordic country is also considered to be among the safest countries in the world for traveling. Finland has numerous ski resorts, ports, national parks, snow playgrounds, unique summer and winter activities, museums, and of course, a rich history. While a lot of people won’t miss the largest and capital city of Finland, Helsinki, it is notable that there are numerous smaller cities filled with natural wonders that you cannot miss in this country.
