PADI OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW | Koh Tao, Thailand

Watch this before learning to scuba dive! PADI Open Water Diver Course at Ban's Diving Resort in Koh Tao, Thailand.

Sania (Videographer) :
Neil (Instructor) :

Have you ever been interested in scuba diving or been tempted to go on a dive or get your diving certification whilst on holiday? Or are you looking for the best or cheapest place you can learn to dive? If you have then this video is for you!

Last year a friend of mine recommended that I should go to Ban's Diving Resort in Koh Tao to get my PADI Open Water Diver Certification whilst I am in Thailand as it is one of the best and cheapest places you can learn to dive in the whole world and an experience that you will remember for a life time.

So when me and Louis were in the south of Thailand we took that advice and headed to Koh Tao with a few friends we had met travelling, who were also interested in learning to dive and booked ourselves into Ban's Diving Resort to do our Open Water Diver Courses! It was an amazing few days and I couldn't have asked for a better group and instructor.

I hope this video inspires you to go out and learn to dive as it really is an amazing skill to have. I tried to include as much information as possible and everything you need to know in this video such as pricing, schedule and some footage from the dives to give you an idea of what to expect before you do your own course!

If you are interested here are all the relevant links that might help you :

This video will show you what to expect and everything you need to know about the PADI Open Water Diver Course offered at Ban's Diving Resort in Koh Tao, Thailand - show you the experience, tell you all the relevant information and serve as a rough guide so you know what to do when you arrive in Koh Tao, Thailand.

PADI Open Water Diver Course - ALL You Need To Know

Everything You Need To Know About PADI Open Water Diving Course – Skills, Practical & Theory. Training Scuba Diving. What To Bring & Expect. 3 or 4 Day Course To Get a License For Scuba Diving up to 18 meters / 60 feet depth. How To Get A Diving Licence Certificate Recognised Worldwide and Become a Diver. Price / cost, final exam and my experience as a beginner diver.

PADI Open Water is a 3 or 4 day course which can be combined with PADI Discover Scuba Diving that is designed for complete beginners at diving. I have completed my course and examination at Love Diving Phuket and most of my dives have taken place around the Phi Phi Islands region. I couldn’t think of a better place than Thailand to get my beginners license – clear warm waters, coral reefs, sharks and spectacular sea life, easy-going vibe is all I needed!

Also Thailand is one of the cheapest places in the world to do your PADI Open Water Diver Course, however if you are on a budget I suggest choosing a diving school in Ko Tao and not in Phuket as they will be significantly cheaper :) I also give you other money saving tips such as asking your diving school to combine the price of PADI Discover Scuba and Open Water Diver together and answer an important question – do you need to know how to swim to do the Open Water Diving course?

WE DID OUR PADI OPEN WATER SCUBA DIVING COURSE | KOH TAO, THAILAND????????

We got our PADI Open Water Scuba Diving Certification!!

The main reason we started our travels in Koh Tao, Thailand is because of the HUGE amount of diving schools! We wanted to make sure we got our PADI certification as soon as possible so we could make use of it on the rest of our travels, and unlock a whole other part of the world we had never experienced before.

The course was 3 and a half days, and a mix of classroom sessions, practice in the pool and of course most importantly, 4 open water dives! Starting at 12m for the first two dives and proceeding to a maximum depth of 18m for the final 2 dives.

Equipment Used :

Camera - Canon EOS M50
Lens - Sigma 16mm f/1.4 AF DC DN Lens
Microphone - Rode VideoMic GO Lightweight Shotgun Microphone
Gimbal - Zhiyun Weebill S 3-Axis Handheld Camera Gimbal Stabilizer
Underwater Camera - GoPro Hero 8 Black

ABOUT US:
We are Dion????????(23) and Louie????????‍????(24) from Watford, England. We have been together for 4 years and have always enjoyed travelling to different countries in our free time. Collectively we have been to 10 countries so far and on this trip we're hoping to add at least 11 more to that list????

Both of us were working in Sales and spent the last year and a half saving up, originally it was to buy a house but whilst we were stuck at home with none of the freedoms we were used to during the pandemic, we realised there was a lot more life had to offer and saw what an amazing opportunity we had to travel the world for at least a few years, and that it was the perfect time for us to do so.

From this, we booked our flights to Thailand, packed our bags and said goodbye to our friends and family to begin the adventure of a lifetime✈️

We are always looking for places to explore and to enrich ourselves in local culture, so if you have any recommendations for places to visit in Thailand, drop a comment or send us a message to one of our social pages????

PADI Open Water Diving courses in Hurghada, Egypt

About PADI diving courses: it turns out there are a lot of diving levels, but it all starts with the Open Water Diver certification. To get it you have three days of diving lessons during which you will dive 6-8 times. You will also receive a PADI 200-page book, you have to read it carefully :) During the dive, the instructor will teach you the basics first - such as not forgetting to breathe :) Then how to assemble the equipment, how to check everything or how to put it on. You will learn that there is no diving alone, and that divers must take care of each other. For starters, you will dive to a depth of 6-8 meters where the lessons will take place. Here you will learn how to control your breathing, not to panic, how to inflate water from a mask, how to share a backup breathing system, how to monitor the balance of air, how to maintain a neutral balance and communicate with signs. Several exercises give you adrenaline - such as removing the mask, removing the belt with weights, and removing and putting on all the equipment. It sounds simple, but there are no simple things under the water :) Basically, anyone will be able to do everything, but the most important thing is not to panic. The most unpleasant thing for me was immersion when it was necessary to equalize the pressure in the ears, which is a bit painful, and it was not easy to adjust to a neutral position. You will learn how important it is to maintain proper depth and that diving in general is a sport for the lazy but requires great discipline and accuracy. And you will swim, deeper and deeper :) Then all the beauty and pleasure of diving opens up. What could be better than floating in a weightless state in a warm diving suit and watching an incredibly colorful, completely different world than we know. Breathe slowly and move slowly when there is silence and calm around - a real meditation or trance state :) Well, after all the panic and meditation sessions, you will take an exam which consists of ~70 theory questions and immersion planning/calculation tasks. You will have to remember the logic – it is not easy during the holidays :D You will have to answer at least 70% of the questions correctly. If you do not respond, you will have the opportunity to reschedule the next day. Well, the whole process is similar to a driving license exam only this one is much more fun :)
