Brazil Was Not What We Expected

Brazil was not the country that we expected to find. The food, the people, the weather and the customs. We could not have been more wrong.

Come as we explore the northern and southern regions of Brazil and find out what you can expect.

FIRST TIME TO TRAVEL IN BRAZIL (Not What We Thought)

Wassup ya girl is back! Last March 2021, I traveled alone to #SãoPaulo, #brazil and that was my first time in South America. Editing this made me miss Brazil and the best Brazilian MEAT I had in my life and how normal it was to be in crowded places. I wasn't able to publish this when I was there because I got busy! But you know what they say! It's better to be late than never!!!

I am truly grateful that I was able to travel that time before Enhanced Community Quarantine in the Philippines. I had a layover in Doha for 5hrs and had breakfast with my cousin who’s working in Hamad International Airport. Another 13 hr flight going to #SãoPaul. When I arrived there, SãoPaulo, Brazil was COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN and we didn’t get the chance to explore the city but I'll definitely explore more of Brazil and South America! Hopefully, #RioDeJaneiro will be open so I can explore places like Christ Redeemer.

If you remember our first video from Brazil last year, we were extremely nervous to be in Sao Paulo.

I Didn't Know São Paulo Was So Italian???????????????? (#118)

São Paulo. The megacity of not just Brazil, but all of Latin America. If you're flying to Brazil, this is typically the only way in, and the only way out. I didn't quite know what to expect: we're used to hearing about favelas and robberies in the country, which leads one to imagine a disorganized city barely holding it together. That's not São Paulo. There's way more money here than you'd expect, and many parts looks as modern as anywhere else in the world. There's the largest Italian and Japanese diasporas in the world. It's a thriving city on the surface.

But as always, the truth is more complicated than that.

Watch Before Traveling To Brazil ????????

Welcome to the channel and thanks for watching the video! My wife is originally from Brazil but this was the first time I’ve visited coming from USA and thought it would be good info for someone out there before traveling there for the first time. I’m sure I missed some items because the video is pretty short but we’re planning to travel there more often. We spent 3 weeks traveling all throughout the southern part of Brazil in Dec 2021 and it was an amazing trip!

First Impressions of Rio de Janeiro: Heaven & Hell ????????

Disclaimer: A lot of locals make the joke about Rio de Janeiro being 'Hell de Janeiro' because if you say Rio with a proper Brazilian Portuguese accent it sounds a lot like 'Hell', or at least 'Hill', so the joke sort of lends itself.

Anyway, we mean no disrespect, but the fact is over the past 3 years, 99% of the time we leave our accommodation, we bring our camera. It's our job and our passion. Collecting footage is easy to do in most spots and we enjoy it. But in Rio, you probably shouldn't be wandering outside with a camera, or any sort of visible valuables for that matter. So, although Rio is maybe the most beautiful big city we've seen (Heaven), it sort of made us feel like we were investigative journalists... laying it all on the line to try and sneak some footage (Hell). In the end, we aren't getting paid nearly enough to be doing anything dangerous, and even if we were, it isn't our intention.

We just want to make travel vlogs in beautiful, safe places, and hopefully meet some friendly people along the way :). So for us, we prefer other parts of Brazil over Rio.

Thanks for watching! We've got a few more Rio vlogs coming, and then we will be off to explore more of Brazil, and get back to our usual upload schedule and content style.

Saude ;)

Is Brazil really one of the most beautiful countries in the world? How safe is it for tourists and expats? And what about the cost of living? Ollie Levido moved from Bolivia to Brazil in 2020. He has lived in Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro.

In this video, Ollie shares his experience living in Brazil. He is from Australia, but he fell in love with South America. He answers questions such as:

- What was your impression of Brazil before moving there?
- What was challenging in the beginning?
- How difficult is it to communicate in Portuguese?
- What do you love and hate about expat life in Brazil?
