PALAU: Exploring the beautiful city of KOROR ????️????️, what to see! (Pacific Ocean)

Island of Koror in Palau, top sites to see and visit in the island of Palau in the Pacific Ocean! Here's a tour of the island of Koror in Palau in the western Pacific Ocean where I spent 4 days. Koror is the state comprising the main commercial centre of the Republic of Palau. Koror consists of several islands, the most prominent being Koror Island. The state of Koror contains about 70% of the population of the country.
Koror, formerly Corrora, one of the Caroline Islands that is part of Palau. The island of Koror lies in the western Pacific Ocean just southwest of Babelthuap island. Koror city served as the provisional capital of Palau until 2006, when the capital was moved to Melekeok in eastern Babelthuap. Partly uplifted coralline limestone and partly volcanic in origin, Koror has a land area of 3 square miles (8 square km) and rises to 459 feet (140 metres).
Palau is an archipelago of over 500 islands, part of the Micronesia region in the western Pacific Ocean. Koror Island is home to the former capital, also named Koror, and is the islands’ commercial center. The larger Babeldaob has the present capital, Ngerulmud, plus mountains and sandy beaches on its east coast. In its north, ancient basalt monoliths known as Badrulchau lie in grassy fields surrounded by palm trees.

Exploring Koror Palau

Our first days in Koror, Palau were spent exploring the town from our wonderful hotel, Rose Garden Resort. We visited the Eptison Museum with Elvis and also the Belau Museum. The best part of the day was the double rainbow! They say that Palau is at the edge of paradise and we loved our stay!

During our stay we enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling with Sam's Tours and SCUBA diving with NECO Marine. A bucket list highlight was to swim in Jellyfish Lake and to see and stay in the Rock Islands.

See all our Palau movies to learn more about what to do and where to go! We can highly recommend Palau as we had a wonderful visit.

Thank you to the Palau Visitor's Association for inviting us to Palau. See all our Palau movies to learn more about what to do and where to go! We can highly recommend Palau as we had a wonderful visit. Palau Playlist:

Palau is an island paradise standing up to the world

The tiny island of Palau is a remote, beautiful paradise and the rest of the world knows it. But existing in a connected world can put extreme stress on small countries. The nation of just 20,000 people has seen an influx of tourists recently, but that hasn’t necessarily been a good thing.

But visitors arriving by the tens of thousands from such behemoths as Japan, South Korea, and China, put considerable stress on Palau’s environment and economy.

Quartz News travels far into the Pacific to find out how the island nation of Palau is standing up for itself against the world’s superpowers.

Exploring the Big Island of Palau with a local!

We had the opportunity to explore Babelthuap/Babeldaob/Baberudaobu To/Arrecifos (the big island of Palau) with a local guide! It was awesome! It involved new fruits, visiting popular (and not so popular) landmarks, getting a fresh coconut and laughing a lot. At first we looked into renting a car, we weren't sure how well a big tour would go. However, with Fish 'n' Fins, even if only two people signed up for a tour, they will do it! SO we basically got a private tour but only paid for a group.

It wouldn't have been what it was without the man himself - Quincy! He was awesome. Outgoing, intelligent and just fun.

We had many off camera conversations revolving around his love for his home country and the struggles it has.

We had an awesome time and felt like it really rounded out our time in Palau well.

Thank you for having us Palau!

About Us

We met in college and started a five year journey to graduate, get jobs, pay off student loans and save money to travel. After getting married we bought a one way ticket to Greece in July of 2021 and have been traveling around the Globe since. Living abroad definitely brings some unique experiences.

These laidback Youtube videos will be our way of keeping in touch with family and friends as we explore different countries, try new and strange foods (and of course pizza), and see how many times we can avoid airplane fares. These homevideos will be the only souvenir we end up with at the end (only because nothing else will fit in our bags).

Thanks for watching!

About Palau: Palau, officially the Republic of Palau (Palauan: Beluu er a Belau) and historically Belau, Palaos or Pelew, is an island country in the western Pacific. The nation has approximately 340 islands and connects the western chain of the Caroline Islands with parts of the Federated States of Micronesia. It has a total area of 466 square kilometers (180 square miles). The most populous island is Koror, home to the countrys most populous city of the same name. The capital Ngerulmud is located on the nearby island of Babeldaob, in Melekeok State. Palau shares maritime boundaries with international waters to the north, Micronesia to the east, Indonesia to the south, and the Philippines to the north west. The country was originally settled approximately 3,000 years ago by migrants from Maritime Southeast Asia. Spain was the first European nation to invade the islands in the 16th century, and they were made part of the Spanish East Indies in 1574. Following Spains defeat in the Spanish–American War in 1898, the islands were sold to Germany in 1899 under the terms of the German–Spanish Treaty, where they were administered as part of German New Guinea. After World War I, the islands were made a part of the Japanese-ruled South Seas Mandate by the League of Nations. During World War II, skirmishes, including the major Battle of Peleliu, were fought between American and Japanese troops as part of the Mariana and Palau Islands campaign. Along with other Pacific Islands, Palau was made a part of the United States-governed Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands in 1947. Having voted in a referendum against joining the Federated States of Micronesia in 1978, the islands gained full sovereignty in 1994 under a Compact of Free Association with the United States. The World's Least Populated Capital City - Ngerulmud, Palau

Ngerulmud, Palau - The World's Least Populated Capital City

Ngerulmud is the seat of government of the Republic of Palau, an island nation in the Pacific Ocean. It replaced Koror City, Palau's largest city, as capital in 2006. The settlement is located in the state of Melekeok on Babeldaob, the country's largest island, located 20 kilometres (12 miles) northeast of Koror City and 2 km (1 mile) northwest of Melekeok City.

A 2013 piece in The Wall Street Journal reported that the capitol building, which was unsuited to the local climate, had put Palau in debt, and a fault in the ventilation system had recently caused a mold infestation. In April 2013, Ngerulmud's post office was closed permanently, as part of cost-cutting measures implemented by the postmaster, Tommy Sinsak.

In July 2014, Ngerulmud hosted the official opening of the 45th Pacific Islands Forum. However, the majority of events at the forum were held in Koror, with the leader's retreat held in Peleliu State.[10][11] In February 2016, Ngerulmud hosted the 16th Micronesian Presidents' Summit, which was attended by the presidents of Palau, the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia.

I am Grace on Tour and travel has been my biggest passion ever since I can remember. My very first international trip was done two weeks after I was born. In the summer of 2018 I started posting on this channel as I set off on a trip around Asia before studying a semester in Taiwan. During this time my love for travel grew and I tried to travel to new places during my weekends off from university. Throughout uni I made travel a priority and worked multiple side jobs to fund my travels. After doing my thesis in Hong Kong I graduated in June 2019. At this point I decided to take a gap year and go traveling. My goal was to visit as many countries as possible. I soon realized that travel is what I love and wan´t to keep on doing. I now dream of visiting every country in the world.
