In 2022, Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup. Older video material and new photos show the interesting metropolis of Doha.
While being in Doha on a business trip in 2016, I film the city before returning home. Major attractions such as City Center, Soug Wagif, The Pearl-Qatar, Museum of Islamic Art, Corniche, The Pearl and Villaggio Mall can be seen.

The sand dunes on the eastern coast are known as 'singing sands' because of the sounds they produce.
In 2012, Barwa Group launched a construction project in the southern zone of Mesaieed to establish a large tourist resort over an area of 829 square metres (8,920 sq ft).
Al Afjah Heritage Village is a cultural attraction located on the western boundaries of Mesaieed
Sea Line Beach situated at Mesaieed city located on the southeast coast, approximately 50 kilometres (31 mi) south of Qatar's capital, #Doha. It is a part of the Al Wakrah Municipality. The eastern section is situated over a low, rocky promontory which is enclosed by sabkhas on the coast. The sabkha region is 40 kilometres (25 mi) long and between 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) wide. The southern portion of Mesaieed is characterized by sand dunes.To the northeast of the coast, where the residential section is located, there are sandy hillocks which lie 9 m above sea level.

Aus dem Grund entschuldige ich mich das ich konnte nicht mehr aufnehmen aber ich meine das für einen Tag sind die Aufnahmen ausreichend. Bei meine zweite Besichtigung in Doha bei gleichen Bedienungen habe ich der zweite Teil über Doha erledigt

The Doha Metro is a rapid transit system in Doha, Qatar's capital city, which became operational on 8 May 2019.[2] It has three lines with an approximate overall length of 76 km and 37 stations. It is an integral component of the larger Qatar Rail network, which will include a long-distance rail for passengers and freight, linking Qatar to the GCC, and the Lusail LRT. Capable of reaching 100 km/h, the Doha Metro will be one of the fastest driverless trains in the world.[3]
Doha Metro is operated and maintained for a duration of 20 years by RKH Qitarat, a joint venture formed by Hamad Group (51%) and French transit operators Keolis and RATP Dev (49%), on behalf of system owner Qatar Rail.[1]
In 2009, Qatari Diar and Deutsche Bahn signed a joint venture to develop a concept for a railway network in Qatar. In 2011, Qatar Rail became the sole owner of the project while Deutsche Bahn with its global wing DB International (since 2016 DB Engineering & Consulting) took over the role of the main consultant and source for required railway experts.[4] In 2013, the construction of the Doha Metro officially began with a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of Msheireb station.[5] Throughout early 2013, Qatar Rail released the D&B tenders and received submissions from various international firms to construct sections of Phase 1a, corresponding to the Red and Green Lines. In mid-May, Italian firm Salini Impregilo was awarded to manage the construction of the Red Line North segment, running from Msheireb to Al Khor North.[6] In June, it was revealed that QDVC and Porr were successful in their bids to lead the building of the Red Line South segment and Green Line, respectively.[7] In May 2014 a consortium of Larsen & Toubro, Aktor, Yapi Merkezi, STFA Group and Al Jaber Engineering was awarded to design and construct the Doha Metro Gold Line.[8] A total of 21 Tunnel boring machines from the German company Herrenknecht were planned for the tunnel construction for the Metro Phase 1.[9]

Doha Qatar 4K. Sights, Economy and World Cup 2022 | Souq Waqif
#The #souq was founded at least a century ago in proximity of the dry river bed known as Wadi Musheireb. It was a gathering place where Bedouins and locals would trade a variety of goods,[2] primarily livestock goods.[3] However with the boom in prosperity in the 1990s, the Souq fell in decline and in 2003, most of it was destroyed in a fire. This event initiated a restoration program by the government in 2006, with the purpose of preserving its architectural and historical identity. The first phase of restoration was funded by the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al Thani and his wife Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.[4] Buildings constructed after the 1950s were demolished whereas older structures were refurbished. The restoration was completed in 2008.[5] Traditional heating methods are employed by utilizing wood and bamboo imported from various areas of Asia.[3]
Architecture and heritage[edit]
General view
Several streets that appear as mazes with no defined geometric pattern are characteristic of these Middle-Eastern markets (souq). The Souq offers several small shops lined along these paths with a dazzling array of Middle Eastern merchandise from spices and seasonal delicacies to perfumes, jewellery, clothing and handicrafts. Traditional music, art and cultural shows add to the ambience of this historic place.
Low-rise buildings, generally only single-storied are a peculiar characteristic of Qatari Architecture. This is in keeping with regional planning principles and then available local materials such as bamboo, mud (soil) and palm fond (leaves of the date palm tree). All buildings in this market are rough plastered and small openings face the streets (generally faced a courtyard in former residential buildings). Wind towers were used in residential buildings and one such property exists at one end of the market.
Post renovations in the last decade, 2 underground parking lots for over 3000 cars have been added. In addition to the main square that faces the park and waterfront, a new square has been added around the center of the whole development. Water features to allow for climate control seem to be planned at the new square also.
Tourism and attractions[edit]
Souq Waqif by night
The souq is considered one of the best location for tourists within Doha.[6][7] Thousands of people from across the region frequent it to purchase traditional goods. It hosts several art galleries, events and local concerts.
A yearly spring festival around April[8] hosts many theatricals, acrobatics and musical performances.[9] An event featuring WWE wrestlers, called Souq Waqif Storm, attracted the most spectators. There was discussion over the possibility of a repeat festival.[10]

There are pet stalls in Souq Waqif which sell a variety of domestic pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles and birds. The sub-par living conditions of the pets has been the subject of advocacy campaigns in recent years, with proponents arguing that the animals suffer from a lack of proper healthcare and exposure to adverse weather conditions. Furthermore, some customers allege that stall owners falsify vaccination records.[11] There is also a separate area in the souq reserved for falcon handling.[2] The Bird souq, as it's called, sells not only falcons but also the needed accessories such as landing pads and GPS guidance systems for the birds.[4] Within the vicinity is also a Falcon Hospital.

Villaggio Mall is a shopping mall located in the Aspire Zone in the west end of Doha, the capital city of Qatar. It is located on Al Waab street between the Hyatt Plaza and Sports City and has over 200 stores, including many famous brands in the U.S., U.K., Italian and German markets.[3][4][5]
Inside, the interiors are Italianate-themed both as an Italian hill town, but also with a 150-meter long indoor canal with gondolas.[6]
The Mall was partially re-opened on September 20, 2012, after meeting strict safety standards following the May fire that resulted in 19 lost lives. Portions of the mall remain closed as a result however, the food court, ice rink, movie theater, Carrefour hypermarket, and many stores are open for business with more opening as they are able to restock their shelves.

Doha Qatar 4K. Sights, Economy and World Cup 2022 | History of Qatar
The history of #Qatar from its first duration of human occupation to its formation as a modern state. Human occupation of Qatar dates back to 50,000 years ago, and Stone Age encampments and tools have been unearthed in the peninsula.[1] Mesopotamia was the first civilization to have a presence in the area during the Neolithic period, evidenced by the discovery of potsherds originating from the Ubaid period near coastal encampments.[2]
The peninsula fell under the domain of several different empires during its early years of settlement, including the Seleucid, the Parthians and the Sasanians. In 628 AD, the population was introduced to Islam after Muhammad sent an envoy to Munzir ibn Sawa who was the Sasanid governor of Eastern Arabia.[3] It became a pearl trading center by the 8th century.[4] The Abbasid era saw the rise of several settlements.[5] After the Bani Utbah and other Arab tribes conquered Bahrain in 1783, the Al Khalifa imposed their authority over Bahrain and mainland Qatar. Over the proceeding centuries, Qatar was a site of contention between the Wahhabi of Najd and the Al Khalifa. The Ottomans expanded their empire into Eastern Arabia in 1871,[6] withdrawing from the area in 1915 after the beginning of World War I.
In 1916, Qatar became a British protectorate and Abdullah Al Thani signed a treaty stipulating that he could only cede territory to the British in return for protection from all aggression by sea and support in case of a land attack. A 1934 treaty granted more extensive protection.[7] In 1935, a 75-year oil concession was granted to the Qatar Petroleum Company and high-quality oil was discovered in 1940 in Dukhan.[7]
During the 1950s and 1960s, increasing oil revenues brought prosperity, rapid immigration, substantial social progress, and the beginnings of the country's modern history. After Britain announced a policy of ending the treaty relationships with the Persian Gulf sheikdoms in 1968, Qatar joined the other eight states then under British protection in a plan to form a federation of Arab emirates. By mid-1971, as the termination date of the British treaty relationship approached, the nine still had not agreed on terms of union. Accordingly, Qatar declared its independence on September 3, 1971.[7] In June 1995, deputy emir Hamad bin Khalifa became the new emir after his father Khalifa bin Hamad in a bloodless coup. The emir permitted more liberal press and municipal elections as a precursor to parliamentary elections. A new constitution was approved via public referendum in April 2003 and came into effect in June 2005.[7]

There are pet stalls in #Souq Waqif which sell a variety of domestic pets, including #dogs, #cats, rabbits, turtles and birds. The sub-par living conditions of the pets has been the subject of advocacy campaigns in recent years, with proponents arguing that the animals suffer from a lack of proper healthcare and exposure to adverse weather conditions. Furthermore, some customers allege that stall owners falsify vaccination records.[11] There is also a separate area in the souq reserved for falcon handling.[2] The Bird souq, as it's called, sells not only falcons but also the needed accessories such as landing pads and GPS guidance systems for the birds.[4] Within the vicinity is also a Falcon Hospital.

Tourism is confined to Mesaieed's desert areas, primarily to the immediate southeast of the city. Beach resorts on Mesaieed's coast are considered to be among the most important tourist areas in the country. The main tourist resort is Sealine Beach Resort, which has a hotel, villas and water sports facilities.
The sand dunes on the eastern coast are known as 'singing sands' because of the sounds they produce.
In 2012, Barwa Group launched a construction project in the southern zone of Mesaieed to establish a large tourist resort over an area of 829 square metres (8,920 sq ft).
Al Afjah Heritage Village is a cultural attraction located on the western boundaries of Mesaieed
Sea Line Beach situated at Mesaieed city located on the southeast coast, approximately 50 kilometres (31 mi) south of Qatar's capital, Doha. It is a part of the Al Wakrah Municipality. The eastern section is situated over a low, rocky promontory which is enclosed by sabkhas on the coast. The sabkha region is 40 kilometres (25 mi) long and between 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) wide. The southern portion of Mesaieed is characterized by sand dunes.To the northeast of the coast, where the residential section is located, there are sandy hillocks which lie 9 m above sea level.

Join us as we take you on tour around the magnificent city of Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar.
After a two week cruise onboard the MSC Bellissima, our final stop was in Doha, and we were really excited to end our tour in this Qatari heaven.
Did you know that Qatar ranks among the top 5 wealthiest countries in the World?
With almost $100, 000 USD gross national income per capita and a significant number of ultra-rich households, Qatar is by far superior when it comes to finances and wealth.
We started our adventure in Qatar by getting our passports stamped at the border terminals.
As soon as we were done with the formalities, a taxi took us straight to our hotel. Thanks to Uncle Pepe, we checked into a gorgeous penthouse suite on the 46th floor at a hotel overlooking the West Bay and downtown Doha. What is interesting about the Doha skyline is that it didn’t exist 15 years ago. The Sheraton hotel was the only tall building at the beginning of the century.
Our penthouse offered spacious rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, super comfortable beds, a walk-in closet, and great amenities.
After we were all settled in, we took a taxi to the bay area. Our first destination was the Museum of Islamic Arts. We entered for free just to see the fantastic views, but they do have a ticket booth, in case you would like to visit the museum as well.
Right next to the museum, there was the 7km long Corniche Walkway that goes all the way around the waterfront.
Since the bay area is a tourist focal point, they also offered sightseeing tours in traditional little boats. We were mesmerized looking around and admiring all the beauty that was created from scratch, and all thanks to all the oil that was found 80 years ago.
Doha is so high-tech today that it was hard to imagine that once, it used to be a sleepy little fishing village. Qataris are also proud citizens of the country deemed safest in the World. They practice a more modest dress code, but as long as you have your shoulders and knees covered, you are good to go.
From there, we headed towards a small shopping area. At the market we picked up some Indian takeaway and then returned to the penthouse for an epic view with dinner and called it a day.
The next morning we started with a visit to the Katara Cultural Village. It has museums, restaurants, galleries, theaters, and even a Colosseum that can fit up to 5000 people!
The place is so huge that it takes about an hour just to get around on foot. Fortunately, there were these golf carts that offered free rides around the Katara Village, and we decided to hop on one to enjoy the views in the shade.
This area is close to the much-talked-about Lusail City - the first green city in Qatar that is still under construction. It will be home to the largest stadium in the country that will host 8 games of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022. However, what people are most excited about is the massive Vendome Mall that is expected to become the fashion capital of Qatar!
Our first stop in Katara Village was the market that was open for business despite being a Friday (Islamic weekend). Next, we sat down for lunch and had some delicious pizza.
Back on our feet again, we took a taxi to the Corniche area and visited Doha’s Grand Mosque.
Then we walked along the Corniche waterfront and ran into the famous Doha Pearl Monument, reminiscing the pearl-fishing village Doha once was. Finally, we reached the Souk Waqif, where they sold everything you could and couldn’t imagine, even pigeons and falcons. Falconry is a big thing in Qatar, with the falcon being recognized as the country's national bird.
After such an eventful day, we decided to call an Uber and head back to the hotel for a good night's rest.

Souk Waqif (Arabic: واقف واقف Zak Waqif, Standing Market) is a marketplace in Doha, Qatar. The souk is notable for selling traditional clothing, spices, handicrafts and souvenirs. There are dozens of restaurants and shisha lounges here. Although at least 100 years old, it was renovated in 2006 to preserve traditional Qatari architectural style. It is the only permanent area in Doha that retains a sense of authenticity based on commerce, architecture and culture. This area is popular with locals and immigrants alike as it offers multiple dining options in one place (especially on weekends).
