I Spent a Day in Haiti's Most Dangerous Slum

Guys I have to be honest with you in this one. After visiting all 197 countries and thousands of cities around the world, I can say with 100% certainty that Port au Prince, Haiti, takes the crown as THE MOST DANGEROUS. Yes, more than Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Syria and Iraq COMBINED.

I've never experienced before what I just experienced in Haiti... 80% of the city is controlled by violent street gangs, and when we crossed the sketchy checkpoint to enter the biggest slum called Cite Soleil, we had to get permission from the gang-leading chief to enter. I can't make this stuff up.

I'm just glad that I made it out alive and am here to tell this story. My heart aches for the people in Haiti, who are living through this disastrous situation. I hope the country will return to its thriving days like it was a few decades ago. There is so much potential with stunning beaches, smiling faces, and Caribbean vibes.

Thanks for watching - it took my team of 4 and myself more than 3 weeks to get this story edited. My hope is that this video sparks conversations that contribute to a broader understanding and ultimately, a positive change for the future of Haiti.

HAITI Top 30 Tourist Places | Haiti Tourism

Haiti (Things to do - Places to Visit) - HAITI Top Tourist Places
A country in the Caribbean

Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Though it’s still recovering from a 2010 earthquake, many of Haiti's landmarks dating to the early 19th century remain intact.

These include Citadelle la Ferrière, a mountaintop fortress, and the nearby ruins of Sans-Souci Palace, the baroque former royal home of King Henry I.

Made in Haiti

Team BWB, created by Stephan Olivier Faublas and Vincent Theodore, is founded on a passion for travelling and making videos while helping to change the imagine of our home country of Haïti to the world.

When we decided to go back to Haiti, for three weeks during our summer vacation in 2015, we told ourselves that we would do everything we could to uncover the Haiti that the media always conceals. The idea was to show people that although we have difficulties in many areas on different levels, we are a beautiful country that was once known as the Pearl of the Caribbean.

With the funds we hope to raise, we would like to acquire better filming equipment for future projects. Our next project, planned to take place between December and February, will include a month of filming the beauty of our country in different, innovative ways that elicit the response Wait, That's Haiti?! from our viewers.

Aside from our passion for video making, this project is mostly about helping our country realize it's past greatness. We believe we are doing something worthwhile, that can make a difference and change Haiti in the eyes of our international followers, but also remind Haitians that their country is worth developing and loving.

We thank in advance anyone who will want to participate in this project and believes this is a necessary milestone.

We Thank everyone who helped make this video, especially : Jeff Barnes, Stephan Gaetjens, Maxime Laroche, Sunrise Airways, Hotel Picolet.

Places seen in the video :
Port-Au-Prince (furcy), Seguin, Jacmel (bassin bleu, ti mouillage), Les Cayes (Ile a Vache, Port-Saulut, Port-a-Piment), Cap Haitian (Amiga Island (Ile a Rat), Labadee, Citadelle Laferierre, Palais Sans Soucis)

Song Credits :
Haiti Pam Nan Diferan - Baky Popilè ft. J.Perry

Haiti beautiful places 2016

The beauty of Haiti not shown on television. When it comes to Haiti, the international media always go to the worst area of Haiti giving the country a bad image and scaring potential tourists. Although it is true that Haiti is very poor but there are beautiful places to go, things to do or to see. The country is beautiful and has a lot of potential. I predict Haiti will be once again the pearl of the caribbean in years to come. The problem with Haiti is that it lacks a caring government and investments. Haiti has been brain drained. Most rich and professional Haitians have left Haiti. Hence the Haitian diaspora lacks caring people who are willing to come back and help the country. There are 6 smaller islands belonging to Haiti. All of them with impressive beauty and pristine beaches.
