What It's REALLY Like Flying During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed everything, and that includes how we fly. Let us show you exactly what it's like flying during the pandemic.

From buying a ticket to boarding the plane to the drink-and-snack service onboard and even who's sitting next to you, airlines have made drastic changes - and just what you'll find onboard will depend on which airline you fly. Airports are different, too, as shops and restaurants (and even airport lounges) have limited hours or closed down altogether. It all adds up to an almost unrecognizable travel experience.

We recently took a trip from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Washington, D.C. (DCA) and back to document the flying experience today. And we flew two different airlines, American and Delta, to show just how much it differs based on which airline you choose.

Southwest Airlines during COVID: Why are they dominating?

Southwest is my second most flown airline, but I've only ever posted a single flight review before. So I felt it was about time again. What is it like to fly Southwest during Covid, and is it safe to do so? Why is Southwest expanding aggressively to new cities and airports like Miami and Chicago O'hare? Let's find out on this flight from Oakland to Chicago Midway!

I'll also reply to @sanspotter 's video about Southwest entering ORD and why I strongly disagree.

I paid $170 for this ticket (after flight credit)

Flight Report during Covid-19 | American Airlines Flight Review

This is my flight report on a recent American Airlines flight from Mia to Dallas. My flight review during coronavirus shows what its like to be flying after lockdown. Not only the flight experience has changed, the airport experience, new rules and how one must act during coronavirus travel has changed as well.

This American Airlines trip report entails my experience as to what its like to fly during the pandemic. Limited service on board, mandatory wearing of masks, social distancing during boarding are just some of the new rules. However, flights are increasing and Americans are starting to fly again. According to FlightAware, a flight tracking website, DFW (Dallas Airport) was the busiest airport, the day I was traveling, with over 8000 arrival and departures. That is a 5% increase of flight activity from the previous week.

My flight from Miami to Dallas on July 8, 2020 was just as the U.S reported over 3 Million infections. I used to enjoy flying very much, but flying during coronavirus is not fun. , several changes have taken place in air travel during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Flying During COVID-19: What's Changed? (And What Hasn't?)

COVID-19 has changed travel. And that means your next flight may look and feel much different than just a few years ago. That's why we captured the entire experience of flying during COVID-19, from checking in all the way to grabbing your bag after landing.

And there are far more changes in store than simply wearing a mask...

0:00 - Intro
0:24 - Navigating travel restrictions
0:51 - How busy are airports?
1:25 - Checking a bag
1:59 - Getting through security
2:36 - What's open in the airport?
3:00 - Airport lounges are open, but...
3:45 - Heading to your flight
4:00 - Airline comparison: United vs. Delta
4:28 - Boarding has changed
4:53 - Your flight will be full
5:25 - Masks?
6:07 - In-flight service
6:49 - Deplaning
7:06 - Grab your bag & go
7:18 - Conclusion

The pandemic has reshaped the flying experience, with changes to how airlines board planes, scaled-back in-flight service, and even when you go through airport security. Some airlines blocked middle seats to give travelers more space onboard.

But after more than a year, millions of Americans are flying every week as travel rebounds. Now, many aspects of flying have returned to normal - or something close to it.

Tips for your first flight during (or after) coronavirus:

Flying soon? Don't assume your next flight will be empty:

Flying During COVID-19 | Atlanta (ATL) to New York City (JFK) on DELTA Airlines | CORONAVIRUS Travel | Atlanta Airport | Traveling During Covid | Covid 19 Travel | Flying with Kids during Covid-19

I am back with another flying video. This time it's my return trip from Atlanta, back to New York City on Delta Airlines. I have to say, Delta's service has been top notch during this pandemic. They are one of the only airlines that are still blocking seats which is great. They are also very kid friendly. You'll see my little one get some time with the pilots before take off. I'd definitely recommend Delta if you're considering flying during this time.

What to expect flying during COVID-19 with Delta Air Lines and Sky Club Lounge Atlanta to Newark

I return to the skies with Delta Air Lines for my first flight during the COVID pandemic since May of 2020 and see what has changed since the very early days of flying in the pandemic to see how airlines have adjusted. In particular today I am going to show you what service and precautions are like on Delta Air Lines, including what it is like in their re-opened Sky Club Lounges, starting off the day in Atlanta at their primary hub. I flew up to Newark in First Class on a 737 as part of an award booking.

Risking illness to fly Southwest Airlines

Watch the full / unedited takeoff of this flight:

----------------------------------------------

This is part 2 of my 3-part Southwest Airlines adventure from San Diego to San Francisco (and back) last October!

Today’s flight segment is Southwest Airlines flight number 1807 from Phoenix (PHX) to San Francisco (SFO). It was operated by an aging 737-700 in the old livery, and I chose seat number 18A for this 1.5 hour flight.

Overall it was a pretty good experience. The pandemic was in full swing at this time, which meant that the flight was fairly empty and there was plenty of room to spread out.

Other than that, I hope you don’t die of boredom while watching this. It’s a bland airline/route combo for sure, but it was still a bit thrilling to risk a little illness to get this footage.

How Competition is Helping Southwest Airlines through COVID-19

We entered the almost empty airport as we had booked a Southwest flight to see our son. Going through TSA has never been quicker. Our agent actually even smiled through her mask! As we walked to our gate, my heart was heavy seeing all the shops dark and shuttered. It made me wonder if there was any hope for many of the airlines.

I came up with the following principles as I'm rooting for Southwest Airlines to once again be running full throttle!
See more at:
•It’s going to take work!
•Humor is an added plus!
•Service, Personal Connection & Competition will help any business!
•Consistent evaluation: Needed for all businesses!
•You may need to implement a new or revised business plan.
•Evaluate what others are doing, then come up with your own game plan.
•Watch for opportunity.
•Getting beyond fear applies both personally & professionally.
•I want business to be up & running.
•Be thankful for the little things.
•Challenges bring ingenuity & creativity.
•I’m hopeful for a successful future.
