Schweden: Im Wohnmobil durch Småland und Astrid Lindgrens Bullerbü | Wunderschön | ARD Reisen

So gehen Ferien in Süd-Schweden!

Landscapes of Skåne, Sweden: from its forests to its meadows | National Geographic Traveller (UK)

Sweden’s southernmost province is a natural playground. From hiking long-distance trails to kayaking in the Baltic Sea and joining forest-bathing retreats, outdoor adventures abound in this untamed region.

Home to 249 miles of coastline, more than 100 lakes, two meandering rivers and rocky peninsulas, Skåne is a patchwork of dramatic landscapes. The region’s slow pace of life, abundance of outdoor activities and respect for the environment — it has one of the largest areas of protected woodland in Northern Europe — make it a haven for anyone looking to reconnect with nature. Practise yoga in a quiet forest, cycle along picturesque trails stretching for hundreds of miles, or go rock climbing by the sea. Whether you just want to relax or try your hand at high-octane activities, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Beware of THIS in New Zealand!

Did you expect this in New Zealand? When you come to New Zealand, you'll be shocked to see gangs. Gangs in New Zealand are so unafraid of the Police that they ride obnoxiously loud motorcycles so you can hear them a mile away.

They even wear a uniform which includes a gang patch, so you know which gang they're from.

This is how open and obvious organised crime is in New Zealand. And for visitors like my wife, it's shocking.

If you stay away from them, they won't bug ya. But the reality is gangs are known for the drug trade, murder, theft, violence against women, and the list goes on.

There are numerous gangs in New Zealand, of varying criminality, organisation and ethnicity, including outlaw motorcycle gangs, street gangs and ethnically based gangs. A chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club was formed in Auckland in 1961, the first Hells Angels chapter outside the US.

Soon after, the Mongrel Mob formed in Hastings and Wellington, developing into a predominantly Māori and Pacific Islander gang and having the largest membership in the country.

Through the 1960s and 1970s, other outlaw motorcycle clubs and ethnically based gangs formed, including another predominantly Māori gang, Black Power (not related to the African-American movement), which grew to rival the Mongrel Mob. from Wikipedia.

YOU WON’T BELIEVE THE PARK UPS IN SWEDEN! Living OFF GRID in a VAN in the Swedish wilderness.

IT WAS ALMOST PERFECT... living in a van in the Swedish wilderness. (female van life Sweden)

This week, after a hectic van life trip around Norway, we cross the border into Sweden. We were looking for some peace and tranquility so we head as far into the Swedish wilderness as we could get in our self built campervan.
The park up that we found was as close to VANLIFE perfection as you can really get, in the forest, on a lake and with it's own fire pit. All we had in mind (after Emilys digital nomad duties were complete) was some wild camping, wild swimming in the freezing lake, some kayaking to an isolated island and cooking dinner by the fire.
The 24 hours we spent here (almost) was oh so close to perfect...

FIRST DAY IN MALMO | Sweden Travel Vlog

We were pleasantly surprised by this adorable city in Sweden! With just a short bus ride from Copenhagen, we were able to discover Malmö and spend a few days learning what it has to offer. One of our favorite parts came as a complete surprise when we tried to visit the Malmö Castle but were instead greeted with the Malmö Garden Show!

Our travels began in Western and Central Europe where we spent a month and a half navigating through new territory and adjusting to living out of a suitcase. Now we are back in the US and taking time to explore the state that we are proud to call our home before we set off on our next international adventure.

Pagan holy sites in Sweden ???????? History documentary

We can learn a lot about the pagan religion of Vikings and their ancestors, not only in old books and manuscripts, but in the landscape itself. Sweden in particular is covered in ancient ritual sites which were used by the Norse peoples. Some of them date to the medieval Viking era, while others are much older, yet were still in use during Viking times.

In this film, I travel around Sweden to show you some of the most fascinating and mysterious archaeological religious sites and, through them, help you to understand a bit more about the ancient religion of the Norse peoples and where you can go in Sweden to see it for yourself. We cover everything from barrows and grave-fields, ship burials, stone ship settings, sacrificial trees and god poles, ritual areas such as the treudd and more.

Sweden | History | Culture | geography | Scene of World

Sweden is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It borders Norway to the west and north, Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark in the southwest by a bridge-tunnel across the Öresund Strait. At 450,295 square kilometers (173,860 sq mi), Sweden is the largest country in Northern Europe, the third-largest country in the European Union, and the fifth largest country in Europe. The capital city is Stockholm. Sweden has a total population of 10.4 million; and a low population density of 25 inhabitants per square kilometer (65/sq mi). 87% of Swedes live in urban areas, which cover 1.5% of the entire land area. The highest concentration is in the central and southern half of the country.

Sweden is part of the geographical area of Fennoscandia. The climate is in general mild for its northerly latitude due to significant maritime influence. In spite of the high latitude, Sweden often has warm continental summers, being located in between the North Atlantic, the Baltic Sea, and vast Russia. The general climate and environment vary significantly from the south and north due to the vast latitudal difference, and much of Sweden has reliably cold and snowy winters. Southern Sweden is predominantly agricultural, while the north is heavily forested and includes a portion of the Scandinavian Mountains.

Germanic peoples have inhabited Sweden since prehistoric times, emerging into history as the Geats (Swedish Götar) and Swedes (Svear) and constituting the sea peoples known as the Norsemen. An independent Swedish state emerged during the early 12th century. After the Black Death in the middle of the 14th century killed about a third of the Scandinavian population, the Hanseatic League threatened Scandinavia's culture, finances and languages. This led to the forming of the Scandinavian Kalmar Union in 1397, which Sweden left in 1523. When Sweden became involved in the Thirty Years War on the Reformist side, an expansion of its territories began and eventually the Swedish Empire was formed. This became one of the great powers of Europe until the early 18th century. Swedish territories outside the Scandinavian Peninsula were gradually lost during the 18th and 19th centuries, ending with the annexation of present-day Finland by Russia in 1809. The last war in which Sweden was directly involved was in 1814 when Norway was militarily forced into a personal union, which peacefully dissolved in 1905. Since then, Sweden has been at peace, maintaining an official policy of neutrality in foreign affairs. In 2014, Sweden celebrated 200 years of peace, breaking even Switzerland's record for peace. Sweden was formally neutral through both world wars and the Cold War, albeit Sweden has since 2009 openly moved towards cooperation with NATO.

Sweden is a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy, with legislative power vested in the 349-member unicameral Riksdag. It is a unitary state, currently divided into 21 counties and 290 municipalities. Sweden maintains a Nordic social welfare system that provides universal health care and tertiary education for its citizens. It has the world's eleventh-highest per capita income and ranks very highly in quality of life, health, education, protection of civil liberties, economic competitiveness, income equality, gender equality, prosperity and human development. Sweden joined the European Union on 1 January 1995, but has rejected NATO membership, as well as Eurozone membership following a referendum. It is also a member of the United Nations, the Nordic Council, the Council of Europe, the World Trade Organization and the organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The word Sweden is derived from 17th century Middle Dutch and Middle Low German. In Old English the country was named Swéoland and Swíoríce (Old Norse Svíaríki). Anglo-Norman of the 12th and 13th centuries used Suane, Swane (with the adjective as Suaneis). In Scots Swane, Swaine, appears in the 16th century. Early Modern English used Swedeland.

First Paddle After Winter: My Thin Sleeping Bag Nightmare! Me & My Cousin in Tiomilaskogen, Sweden

#canoeing #adventure #staywild #canoetrip #paddler #paddling #sweden #winter #cold #canoecamping #tiomilaskogen

Join us on an amazing canoeing trip in Tiomilaskogen, from Dalarna to Värmland in Central Sweden, Scandinavia, just after the frozen lakes have melted in early spring. This was our first padde outside of the summer season and it turned out to be a true challenge! My sleeping bag was too thin, and as a result I hard time staying warm during the freezing nights in a tent. It was a stark reminder that your energy and mental focus can go down quickly if you have not secured the basic needs. Nevertheless, we powered on and enjoyed the most beautiful untouched nature, sunsets, birds, silence and solitude.

Our route has us traveling close to 70 kilometer in 4 days over lake Naren, Tyngsjön, Grundrämmen, Fjällrämmen, Storagen and Oforsälven. We travel by canoe and foot, making a new camp every night, battling the cold nights, tough portages and unexpected wildlife encounters.
