EPIC Avatar Mountain, China (I didn’t expect this..) Wulingyuan Scenic Area Zhangjiajie

During the Labor holiday in China i was lucky enough to visit Zhangjiajie, in Hunan province.

Zhangjiajie is known partly for being the scene of one of the most famous movies in the world, Avatar. Yet, it's so much more than that. It's a beautiful UNESCO world heritage site, revered and treasured by so many. Find out why in this video.

This is episode 2 of a 3 part series exploring the area, otherwise known as the Avatar mountains.

Wulingyuan (Chinese: 武陵源) is a scenic and historical site in the Wulingyuan District of South Central China's Hunan Province. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. It is noted for more than 3,000 quartzite sandstone pillars and peaks across most of the site, many over 200 metres (660 ft) in height, along with many ravines and gorges with picturesque streams, pools, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. It features 40 caves, many with large calcite deposits and a natural bridge named Tianqiashengkong (meaning 'bridge across the sky'), which is one of the highest natural bridges in the world. The site also provides habitat for many vulnerable species, including the dhole, Asiatic black bear, and Chinese water deer.

The site is situated in Zhangjiajie City and lies about 270 kilometres (170 mi) to the northwest of Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province. The park covers an area of 690 square kilometers (266 square miles). Wulingyuan forms part of the Wuling Mountain Range. The scenic area consists of four national parks, which are the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, and the recently added Yangjiajie Scenic Area. Overall there are over 560 attraction sights to view.

ⓘ Introduction to the main attractions of Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan

Yuanjiajie Scenic Area is located on the north part of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park with its area of 1200 hectares and its altitude of 1074 meters, narrow in the north and south, long in the east and west. It is like a belt and so is regarded as 48-mile Yuanjiajie. Close to Huangshi Village and Yaozi Village, bordering Tianzi Mountain Area and Yuanjiajie Area, forming a situation of tripartite confrontation. It is worthy of the name of the core of whole Wulingyuan Scenic Area.
- Yuanjiajie natural scenery has a style of its own. The tour line on the top of the cliff is 3500 meters long, constructed against the mountain, linking Back Garden, Mihun Stage and the First Bridge Under the Sun.

Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China [Amazing Places 4K]

The stunning Tianmen Mountain (Heaven's Door Mountain), near the city of Zhangjiajie, province of Hunan, China.
The video is following one of the two standard routes around the mountain: The longest cable car in the world from the city center to the mountain top; West rim cliff-hanging walkway and glass Skywalk; Tianmen temple; East rim cliff-hanging walkway and glass Skywalk; elevators down to Tianmen Cave; the 999 steps Stairway to heaven down to the square with the bus stop; bus down the 99 bends road.
The other possible route is exactly the opposite to the one above, the tourists must choose which one to take when they buy the ticket to the mountain.

Wulingyuan is a scenic spot in Wulingyuan District, Hunan Province, south-central China. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. Much of the site has more than 3,000 quartzite sandstone columns and peaks, many of which are over 200 meters (660 feet) high, as well as numerous ravines and gorges, as well as picturesque streams, pools, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. It has 40 caves, many of which have large calcite deposits and a natural bridge called The First Bridge in the World, which is one of the highest natural bridges in the world. The park also provides habitat for many vulnerable species, including wild dogs, Asiatic black bears and Chinese sambars. Wulingyuan is part of the Wuling Mountains. The scenic spot is composed of four national parks: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, Tianzishan Nature Reserve and the newly added Yangjiajie Scenic Area. Overall, there are over 560 attractions to see.

Zhangjiajie(Avatar mountains) in 4K

A short video from my trip to, probably, one of the top destinations in China- Zhangjiajie. Even though I've already had rather high expectations of this place, I was still simply blown away by the grandeur of this natural wonder! Was really fortunate to explore this majestic place pretty much on my own, as well as to find a few secret paradise spots that I'll remember forever.

Wulingyuan Scenic Area is one of the most incredible UNESCO World Heritage site landscapes we've ever seen. A large area of tall quartzite pinnacles sticking up out of deep sandstone valleys, the landscape is both beautiful and remarkable. Although it's long been known to the Chinese, it really came to the world's attention when it inspired the landscapes in the movie Avatar. Let's go exploring!
