Visiting Semuc Champey Guatemala | Caving (2019) Backpacking Central America

In this episode of our Backpacking Central America Series we arrive at the famous Semuc Champey in Guatemala and a short drive from the town of Lanquin.

Semuc Champey is famous for its blue natural pools, waterfalls and caves. For those feeling brave you can jump from the top of the waterfall or even the main bridge, however this is not suggested during dry season as the water levels are low.

As part of our trip we did the caving - a 1km walk & swim though pitch black caves, holding only a candle. We loved the caving but please be careful not to slip or fall from the ladders or rope climbs.

Semuc Champey means underground river in the Myan language and there is an underground river that flows under the blue natural pools. We loved this day our and would recommend this as a day trip if you are in Guatemala.

Due to the wet day - we were only able to bring our go-pro camera and apologise if some of the audio is a little quiet due to water being in the microphones.

We hope you have as much fun watching this episode at Semuc Champey as we had making it.

Thanks for watching

Guatemala Travel Journal: Antigua and Lake Atitlan

in This Well Xplored travel journal Dawn tours Guatemala with a small group of travel advisors. They first stay at a villa in the heart of Antigua, a romantic colonial home with beautiful gardens behind the historic walls. Next they go to Lake Atitlan and stay at the Casa Palopo; an amazing Hotel/ villa that is part of the Hidden Doorways collection. Casa Palopo is situated directly lake side with incredible views of Lake Atitlan and the volcanos. There are full hotel services at Casa Palopo. The ladies also go on a tour of the near by village of San Juan La Laguna. They goto a coffee farm and do lots of shopping in the colorful shops.

A DAY EXPLORING ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA (what to see)

The Ultimate JERUSALEM FOOD TOUR + Attractions - Palestinian Food and Israeli Food in Old Jerusalem!

There are few cities in the world that can compare to Jerusalem in terms of ancient history and religious significance. It’s one of the most fascinating cities in the world, and it’s a city that I’ve wanted to visit my entire life. Finally, along with my friend David ( and Rafram, we explored Jerusalem to discover the food treasures the city has to offer - and let me tell you, you’ll find some incredibly delicious food in Jerusalem!

We started off the Jerusalem food tour by first walking around East Jerusalem and starting with the best plate of hummus I’ve ever had. We then toured around Old Jerusalem, and enjoyed some incredible Palestinian food kebabs cooked by an incredible man who cooked with serious love and passion. Another highlight in Jerusalem was the mutabak, a thin pastry stuffed with cheese and baked.

After eating our way through Old Jerusalem, we then headed into West Jerusalem and went to lunch at an Israeli Jewish restaurant serving a mix of amazing dishes. The food was home-cooked in style, and absolutely sensation. A few more snacks and sightseeing throughout the afternoon, and that brought us all the way to dinner where David had made reservations to eat at one of the hottest restaurants in Jerusalem, Machneyuda Restaurant. It was quite an experience, and an amazing meal and lively atmosphere to wrap up this ultimate Jerusalem food tour.

Here’s all the food and places included in this Palestinian food and Israeli food tour of Jerusalem:

Hummus Acramawi
Price - 20 ILS ($5.57) per plate

Almond juice - 3.90 ILS ($1.09)

Al-shuala Grill Restaurant
Shawarma - 26 ILS ($7.26)

Al Baghdadi Kabab
Palestinian kebabs
Total price - 100 ILS ($27.89)

Zalatimo Sweets
Mutabak
Price - 30 ILS ($8.37) each

Peaches - 10 for 1 kg
Plums - 10 for 1 kg
Fruit - 10 ILS ($2.76) per kg.

Mahane Yehuda Market
Azura Restaurant
Total price - 400 ILS ($111.55)

Western Wall (Wailing Wall)
Western Wall Tunnel
Price - 35 ILS ($9.76) per person

Dome of the Rock

Mount of Olives

Machneyuda Restaurant
Total price - 700 ILS ($195.21)

It was a lot of food in a single day, but it was one of the greatest food and learning days that I’ve ever had in my life. The generosity of the people we connected with, paired with the food, was truly a memorable experience in Jerusalem.

Thank you again to David ( and Rafram for showing me some of the best food in Jerusalem!

Roman Baths of Baia, Italy Tour - 4K with Captions

The Roman Baths of Baia, also known as the Archaeological Park of the Thermal baths of Baia (Parco archeologico delle Terme di Baia), are where the Roman Emperors built their vacation homes and indulged in hedonistic activities that they might have ruined their image back in Rome. This was filmed on Thursday, April 28th starting at 10:58 AM.

Guatemala Travel - When is Guatemala Reopening - We call United Airlines to find out.
When will Guatemala reopen? We call United airlines to find out. And they give us the dates and prices. Guatemala is still under lockdown from international travel. So, when will guatemala airport reopen? Well, it looks like September 2nd for now. But that of course can change. Guatemala Travel will begin hopefully before the end of the year. This is my personal Coronavirus travel update for Guatemala and Guatemala City. I called United airlines to see and they gave me the latest scoop. La Aurora airport Guatemala is scheduled to reopen to international travel on September 2nd. Travel updates are always coming, so this of course can change.

OMG... What an experience... International Volunteer HQ solo travel trip to Guatemala | Volunteerism

#volunteerabroad #internationalvolunteerhq #antiguaguatemala
My first solo trip to Antigua, Guatemala through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) was such an experience. This is the first video from New York JFK airport to Guatemala GUA.

I flew Business class because I took supplies with me and 50 bookbags filled with school supplies which was over 50 lbs. Business class with American Airlines allow 2 check bags up to 70 lbs. and you receive access to the lounge which I used the WIFI, printer and free food.

My flight from JFK was delayed so I was aware of the limited time I had to het to my gate in Miami.

So if this is your first time thinking about volunteering abroad with International Volunteer HQ or traveling solo I will share my experience with you.

This is part 1 of my journey which includes my volunteer home setting.
