if you are coming to bali on a holiday or even to live in bali you will find hundreds of articles vlogs and blogs about what to do in bali all the amazing things you can do with your time here but you might struggle to find those things that you should not do in bali so i'm going to answer that question today i'm going to give you 14 things that you should not do here in bali to avoid upsetting the locals and so you have a better time
number one avoid standing on or interrupting with the kanang sarees these are little offerings that are presented by the balinese people to the gods and you will find them literally everywhere in bali they are daily offerings so they are newly presented every single day you will find them literally everywhere from being on the roads to being on the little pathways to being in front of shop doors so make an effort to avoid them don't stand on them or disturb them or move them because it can be very rude to the balance people that might witness that sometimes it's hard to avoid them on the road just do your best and try to leave them as they are
number two do not drive a scooter without any experience bali is an incredibly busy island in terms of traffic and driving can be very hectic particularly as they have different rules to perhaps you're used to in your own country for example roundabouts they will go the opposite way around or even just cut straight through them so don't drive without any experience whatsoever if you don't have any experience and you arrive in bali take some lessons which leads me to like
two point b a little side issue of two don't be offended with the constant honking that happens here in bali it's not perhaps the same meaning as in your home country i know where i'm from beeping means you know you've done something wrong but here it's just a friendly toot to say i'm coming around you or a friendly toot to say i'm here or because the roads are so narrow sometimes people are just toots as they get to the edge of a thin road approaching a busy road so that you know you're aware that someone might be coming onto that merger so don't be offended if you hear a lot of tooting it's really common here
number three don't touch people the local people on their heads or point with your index finger the head is seen as the place where the soul of the body resides and it's very bad luck to be touched or disturbed and pointing with your finger is just a sign of rudeness here all right lulu bye lulu uh so don't point with your finger it was is seen as a rude gesture the way to gesture things here in bali is to put your palm facing down tuck your fingers under and just gesture like this
number four the big one don't stay in the tourism areas it's very easy to do places like kuta changu seminyak are really popular places and really great but you could end up just spending all of your time here if you come on a short holiday make sure that you go further afield and spend some time in the amazing places that bali has to offer also don't just go straight to the tourist attractions so some of the waterfalls that you look for might have great ratings and those fantastic instagram spots but when you get there it's going to be super busy and it will just feel like an extension of where you've already been because it should be packed with tourists try and find those more remote places i'm going to give a link to a video that we have for things to do and place beaches to go here in bali but there are lots of things that you can do that are a little bit off the beaten track and finding those private ones will give you a real authentic experience go to the local villages go to the local places where the balinese will eat and have a real authentic experience don't stay around the tourists
