If you are planning to visit #Trent (#Trento), in Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on things to do in the city, with a sightseeing map on the most relevant points of interest to enjoy, so you can easily imagine and organise your trip: WHAT to see, HOW to plan your visit, and WHY to discover Trent city.

WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including Buonconsiglio Castle, the Cathedral of Saint Vigilius, Palazzo Pretorio, Palazzo delle Albere and MUSE, the museum of science and natural history.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a daily-tour to better visit the city, with a clear map of Trent city and tips for nearby attractions.
Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Trent city, with his rich historic city center.
WHAT
Before the Romans, Trent was a Celtic village. It was conquered by the Romans in the late 1st century BC. Romans gave their settlement the name Tridentum as a tribute to the Roman god Neptune. (Actually, the origin of the name is not clear, it could refer to 3 small hills that rise around Trento, called Doss.) Tridentum became an important stop on the Roman road that led from Verona to Innsbruck. In the 16th century, the city was the location of the famous “Council of Trent”. Formerly part of Austria-Hungary empire, it was annexed by Italy in 1919.
With almost 120,000 inhabitants, Trento is one of the largest city.
What to see:
- Duomo (Cathedral of Saint Vigilius) is a Gothic cathedral of the twelfth century, built on top of a late-Roman basilica.
- Palazzo Pretorio, next to the Duomo, dates back to the 12th century, with a bell tower.
- Buonconsiglio Castle includes a museum and the remarkable Torre dell'Aquila.
- Palazzo delle Albere is a Renaissance villa next to the Adige river built around 1550, and now host a modern art museum.
- MUSE is the museum of science and natural history, planned by Renzo Piano and opened in 2013.

As you have seen, the city offers a rich historical heritage, in a comfortable city setting and a panoramic alpine landscape.
But Trento offers a lot of attractions around the city:
Arriving in Trento by car, you will notice vineyards as far as the eye can see; so why don’t visit one of them?
In 40 minutes you can be in Garda lake and in just over an hour you can visit Brenta Dolomites and the village of Madonna di Campiglio (watch my videos on both of them)

You might not have heard of it, but I believe Trentino has to be the one region in Italy that HAS IT ALL. This is my first Italy travel vlog from this region and I'm SUPER excited to share it with you.
From hiking in the Dolomites to strolling through wild flowers, drinking TrentoDoc wine and beer tasting to jumping in lakes, sailing, swimming, kayaking and more - this was one of the most adventurous weeks of my life and endless fun. Trentino is so so beautiful!

If you are looking for more things to do in Trentino, here are some epic adventures in the mountains and valleys of northern Italy.
We made rose syrup, went on EPIC walks, visited friendly animals, created our own herb salt, staying in a room with a view, forged for greens, explored a cultural museum, ate amazing things, hung out with bees, made our own jam, and milked a cow. Then I stayed in my happy place...a field of grass and trees near a lake.

Trentino, Italy is known as a winter destination...if you know it at all. But, going in the summer opens up a whole new world of things to do and activities to get into!
Just so you know, we did end up buying a bottle of the Holy Wine. The one in the video is from 2005 and we bought the one from 2004! The question is...when to drink it?!

TRENTO - ITALY: WHAT TO DO IN A WEEKEND IN THE CITY OF THE DOLOMITES!
LET’S START OUR TRIP IN TRENTO BY THE NEPTUNE FOUNTAIN, THE ICON OF THE CITY OF DOLOMITES FOR OVER 250 YEARS. IT’S QUITE STRANGE THAT THE GOD OF THE SEA IS THE SYMBOL OF AN ITALIAN MOUNTAIN CITY, BUT YOU GOT TO KNOW THAT THE ANCIENT ROMAN NAME OF TRENTO WAS “TRIDENTUM”, THAT IS THREE TEETH, THE THREE HILLS OF THE CITY. THAT'S WHY THE GOD OF THE SEA, THE GOD WITH THE TRIDENT, OVERLOOKS THE MAIN FOUNTAIN OF THE MAIN SQUARE OF TRENTO. OUR TRAVEL CONTINUES WITH THE CATHEDRAL OF TRENTO. ON THE MAIN FACADE THE DOOR OF THE BISHOPS STANDS OUT, SO CALLED BECAUSE IT WAS THE ENTRANCE DOOR OF THE PROCESSION OF THE BISHOPS DURING THE COUNCIL OF TRENTO, WHICH TOOK PLACE FROM 1545 TO 1563 TO OPPOSE THE PROTESTANT REFORMATION. THE ROSE WINDOW IS REALLY INTERESTING. IT IS CALLED THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE.
THE BUONCONSIGLIO CASTLE
IT IS ONE OF THE MAIN MONUMENTS IN THE DOLOMITES AND ONE OF THE BIGGEST FORTRESS IN NORTHERN ITALY. HISTORIC RESIDENCE OF THE PRINCE-BISHOPS UNTIL 1803 IT'S MADE OF SEVERAL BUILDINGS SURROUNDED BY PROTECTIVE WALLS. THE CASTLE IS POPULAR, NOT ONLY IN ITALY, FOR THE MANY PLASTERS AND FRESCOS, ESPECIALLY FOR THE FRESCO OF THE LOGGIA OF THE LIONS' YARD, A RENAISSANCE MASTERPIECE PAINTED BY GIROLAMO ROMANINO. FROM THE LOGGIA YOU ENTER THE EAGLE TOWER AND THE VERY FAMOUS CYCLE OF THE MONTHS, ONE OF THE BEST GOTHIC-STYLE PAINTINGS EVER MADE IN ITALY!
DURING THE I WORLD WAR THE THREE IRREDENTISTS CESARE BATTISTI, FABIO FILZI AND DAMIANO CHIESA WERE DECLARED TRAITORS AND EXECUTED HERE FOR BEING AUSTRIAN CITIZENS WHO VOLUNTARILY FOUGHT IN THE ITALIAN ARMY.

FEW YARDS FROM THE BUONCONSIGLIO CASTLE THE DOSS TRENTO HILL RISES ON THE TOWN OF TRENTO. ON THE TOP OF THE HILL IN 1935 THE MAUSOLEUM OF CESARE BATTISTI WAS BUILT. INSIDE, THE REMAINS OF THE SOLDIER AND HIS BUST SCULPTED BY THE LOCAL SCULPTOR ERALDO FOZZER.

FROM LATE NOVEMBER UNTIL EARLY JANUARY OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR THE CHRISTMAS MARKET OF TRENTO IS MUCH MORE THAN A CHANCE FOR BARGAINS. ITALY MOUNTAINS: TRENTO MOUNT BONDONE
IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF TRENTO THE MOUNT BONDONE DOMINATES THE CITY. WITH A SNOWPARK, ICE-SKATING RINGS, MORE THAN 12 MILES OF SKI SLOPES, SOME ARE THE BEST IN THE ITALIAN DOLOMITES, THIS IS A PARADISE FOR SKIERS, BEGINNERS AND EXPERTS.
OUR TRAVEL CONTINUES WITH THE GIANNI CAPRONI MUSEUM OF AERONAUTICS. GIANNI CAPRONI WAS AN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEER AND A PIONEER IN THE FIELD OF AVIATION. HE HAD THE IDEA OF NOT RE-USING HIS EARLIER INVENTIONS TO CREATE NEW AIRPLANES, BUT TO KEEP THEM IN HIS WORKSHOP, THAT IN 1927 BECAME THE FIRST AERONAUTICAL COLLECTION IN THE WORLD. IN THE MUSEUM THERE ARE MANY RARE AIRPLANES, AND THE EXHIBIT INCLUDES ENGINES, PROPELLERS, RELICS AND THE BIRTH OF CIVIL AVIATION IN ITALY

A LITTLE ROAD TRIP FROM TRENTO, A STUNNING PLACE WITH A BEAUTIFUL CASTLE FROM THE 11TH CENTURY REBUILT IN THE 16TH CENTURY. A QUITE PLACE IF YOU LIKE STROLLING BY THE LAKE OR HIKE IN THE SURROUNDINGS.
SANTA MASSENZA – THE NIGHT OF THE STILLS
SANTA MASSENZA IS A SMALL VILLAGE IN THE ITALIAN DOLOMITES. EVERY DECEMBER THE HAMLET CELEBRATES THE NIGHT OF THE STILLS AND RELIVES THE ANCIENT TRADITION OF THE DISTILLATION OF THE GRAPPA BY SETTING UP A MOVEABLE SHOW IN THE MANY DISTILLERIES OF THE VILLAGE. PEOPLE CAN EXPLORE THE PAST AND THE PRESENT OF THE MANY FAMILIES OF DISTILLERS AND CELEBRATE THE GRAPPA FROM TRENTINO.
