Azerbaijan is known for having nine of the 11 defined ecological zones. Much of the country is temperate year-round. Nation-wide the average temperature for the year is 14-15°C (57-59°F). The Caucasus Mountains protect the country from the Arctic air masses that affect Russia in winter while the Caspian Sea shields it from the hot, dry air of Central Asia in the summer.
Cabbage, grape leaves, and eggplant wrapped meat (kelem, yarpaq, badimjan - dolmasi), kabab (kebab), rice with different variety of toppings (plov - It is said that plov is the king of Azerbaijani cuisine), gutabs and meatballs (kufta) are some of the several specialties of Azerbaijan.
Some local drinks include ayran (a yogurt drink based on sour milk) and sherbet (made from rose petals or saffron). There are also different sorts of quite decent wines produced from local grapes and a wide array of mineral waters from natural springs. In some areas of Azerbaijan the markets offer lemonades (limonat/dushes) made from pears or taragon.
There is a good selection of hotels in Baku, including many Western chains, but options elsewhere in the country are limited. Prices for the hotels start from USD60 and higher. Rental apartments might be a good choice as they are cheaper than hotels and sometimes are even more comfortable.

Mingachevir, Azerbaijan 23.11.2018 - Travel Video
Mingəçevir, Azərbaycan
Mingachevir is the fourth-largest city in Azerbaijan with a population of about 106,000. It's often called the city of lights because of its hydroelectric power station on the Kur River, which splits the city in half.
The current city was founded in 1948, partly by German prisoners of war captured during World War II. Mingechevir is also home to Mingachevir Polytechnic Institute. The city forms an administrative division of Azerbaijan. The district is located 323 km from Baku and 17 km from the Baku-Tbilisi railway. Geographically, the region is located in the center of the republic on both sides of the Kura River.
History
The archaeological history of this area extends from the eneolith era (3000 BC) to the AD 17th century. In 1871, Adolf Berge, chairman of the Caucasus archaeological committee, gave information about the archaeological monuments of Mingachevir at the second congress of archaeologists in St Petersburg.[citation needed] wrongfully presenting Mingachevir as an ancient settlement.
After this, Mingachevir remained out of archaeologists' attention until the mid-1930s when archaeological researches resumed as part of the construction of the hydroelectric power station. In 1935, researches under the leadership of Prof. Pakhomov revealed two ancient settlements and cemeteries, which were composed of various types of graves. Unfortunately, World War II prevented the research from being completed.
The construction of the hydroelectric power station started immediately after the war. This marked the start of systematic and planned research of Mingachevir as an ancient settlement. Archaeological excavations were carried out from April 1946 to August 1953 by a group of archaeologists headed by S. M. Qaziyev in connection with the construction of the Mingachevir hydroelectric power station under a decision by the Supreme Board of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences. Over 20,000 historical monuments – graves and tumuli, means of production, things related to daily life, jewellery etc., which reflected historical periods in chronological sequence, were found during the excavations.
Most ancient written monuments in Caucasian Albanian alphabet and other archaeological finds proved that Mingachevir was a 5,000-year-old settlement. The majority of these finds are currently exhibited in the Azerbaijani Historical Museum, while part of them is held at the Mingachevir Historical Museum.
Historical sources indicate that a fierce battle took place between the powerful army of Roman commander Pompey and the army of Albanian governor Oris just on the territory of the current dam on the bank of the River Kur in the 1st century BC. Historical facts also prove that the ancient Silk Road ran via Mingachevir.
Renowned Turkish traveller Evliya Çelebi, who lived in the 17th century AD, wrote about Mingachevir and described it as a large settlement on the right bank of the River Kur near the Bozdag Mountain. According to him, several mosques, workshops manufacturing fibre silk and silk cloth, bathhouses etc. were operating in this settlement. The road passing from there used to be called the road of the messenger. The road of the messenger connected camelcase and trade roads to Middle East countries and Azerbaijani towns like Saki, Qabala, Samaxi, Barda, Beylaqan and others.
A great number of people came to Mingachevir from all districts in Azerbaijan in connection with the construction of the Mingachevir hydroelectric power station, and a total of 20,000 people took part in the construction of this power station. About 10,000 German POWs were among those who contributed to the construction of the power station by the end of the 1940s. The most experienced specialists of the country were involved in the construction of this building site as the biggest hydroelectric power station of the then Soviet Union.
Today's Mingachevir was granted the status of city in 1948. The population of the town currently stands at 120,000 people, including 20,000 Azerbaijani settlers from Karabakh. The area of the town is 139.53 km². Mingachevir is situated 55 meters above sea level on the foothill of the southeast of the Bozdag Mountain chain and on the edge of the Mingachevir reservoir in the Kur-Araz lowland in central Azerbaijan. The town was built in a mild and warm zone and has warm and dry summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is 14 - 15 °C, highest temperature 42 °C (July–August) and the lowest temperature (January–February) -10 °C. The average annual rainfall is 250–300 mm.
The town lies on both banks of the River Kur - a 1515 km-long river, which is the biggest and longest one in the South Caucasus. (The river originates from Turkey, runs down Georgia and Azerbaijan and flows to the Caspian Sea.) Mingachevir is situated 280–300 km west of the capital of the republic, Baku.

Shusha Mosque Nagorno Karabakh, Şuşa məscidi Qarabağ
Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque (Azerbaijani: Yuxarı Gövhar Ağa məscidi, also Şuşa məscidi) is a mosque located in Shusha, Azerbaijan. Shusha Mosque also bears the name Boyuk Juma (Great Mosque) of Govhar Agha (Azerbaijani: Gövhər Ağanın Cümə məscidi; Armenian: Գյովհար Աղայի վերին մզկիթ).
The Yukhari Govhar Agha means The Upper Govhar Agha Mosque in Azerbaijani, referring to location of Shusha Mosque (Şuşa məscidi) in the upper section of Shusha city and to distinguish it from the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque, the same-name mosque located in lower section of Shusha. Both mosques are considered symbols of Shusha and masterpiece of Eastern architecture. Shusha Mosque (Şuşa məscidi) is located on Shusha's main square, Yusif Vazir Chamanzaminli street and makes up a big part of architectural complex including madrasa, shops and houses built by the same architect. According to historian and author of Karabakh name, Mirza Jamal Karabakhi, construction of Shusha mosque (Şuşa məscidi) was started with orders of Ibrahim Khalil Khan in 1768 but was stopped for a long time. The construction was then restarted and completed in 1883–1885 by architect Karbalayi Safikhan Karabakhi ordered by Govhar Agha, daughter of Ibrahim Khalil Khan.
The hall of Shusha Mosque is a three-nave in a square shape split by 6 stone columns. The three-beam veranda in the northern section of Shusha' s mosque gives it a rectangular form. The Shusha´s mosque has two minarets. The balconies used to host women's premises of the prayer hall. The interior of the prayer hall gets light from dual windows. The two minarets by the facade make up the veranda. The building of the Shusha mosque was constructed out of stone while the two minarets are made of bricks. The minarets have cylindric forms with horizontal belts with each section laid in distinguishing brick patterns. The same construction pattern than in Shusha Mosque (Şuşa məscidi) can be viewed in most of the mosques throughout Karabakh built by Kerbalayi Safi Khan Karabakhi.
In Soviet times Shusha Mosque (Şuşa məscidi) was closed and used as a Shusha museum, but reopened as a functioning mosque in 1988. After the capture of Shusha by Karabakhi Armenian forces in 1992, stopped functioning. Following a minor restoration of the Shusha's mosque in 2008–2009 officials from Nagorno Karabakh Ministry of Economy ordered a restoration project, hiring Iranian experts to carry out the works. Azerbaijani officials expressed their unhappiness with the restoration project of Shusha mosque, with the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Gunduz Ismayilov claiming that Armenia’s intention to restore the historical Azerbaijani mosque in Shusha is an attempt to cover up the vandalism it did to Azerbaijani cultural-religious monuments in the occupied territories.
After several years of restoration work, Shusha Mosque (Şuşa məscidi), neighboring madrasa, and park were formally opened for tourism on October 2019. The project was undertaken by the Initiative for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation with the support of private donations, the largest of whom being Kazakh businessman Kairat Boranbayev.
The complex will be used as an Armenian - Iranian Cultural Center. Notably, there is no mention of the former Azeri presence and the complex is presented as an Iranian mosque. There are now plans to convert the building back into a functioning mosque for Shusha.
The first Friday prayer in Shusha mosque was held in the mosque, after 28 years, on 13 November 2020 by Azerbaijan soldiers
Shusha (Azerbaijani: Şuşa; Armenian: Շուշի, romanized: Shushi) is the centre of the Shusha District of Azerbaijan. Situated in the Karabakh mountains, Shusha was a recreation resort in the Soviet era
According to some sources the town of Shusha was founded in 1752 by Panah Ali Khan. From the mid-18th century to 1822 Shusha was the capital of the Karabakh Khanate. Shusha became one of the cultural centers of the South Caucasus after the Russian conquest of the Caucasus region in the first half of the 19th century over Qajar Iran. Over time, Shusha became a city and a home to many Azerbaijani intellectuals
Other sources suggest that Shusha served as a town and an ancient fortress in the Armenian principality of Varanda during the Middle Ages and through the 18th century. Shusha was one of the two main Armenian cities of the Transcaucasus and the center of a self-governing Armenian principality from medieval times through the 1750s. Shusha also had religious and strategic importance to the Armenians, housing the Ghazanchetsots Cathedral, the church of Kanach Zham, etc, and serving (along with Lachin district) as a land link to Armenia

ZƏNGİLANIN AĞALI KƏNDİNDƏ 2 GÜN KEÇİRDİM | ZANGILAN - DAY 1 VLOG
ZƏNGİLANIN AĞALI KƏNDİNDƏ 2 GÜN KEÇİRDİM
Qarabağa ilk gedişim idi və bu mənim üçün çox yadda qalan və unudulmaz 2 gün oldu.
Kənddə reallaşdırılan Ağıllı kənd layihəsinin icrası - yaşayış, istehsal, sosial xidmətlər, ağıllı kənd təsərrüfatı, alternativ enerji sahələri üzrə həyata keçirilib.
Ağalıda inşa olunan 200 dən çox ev olan kəndin enerjiyə olan tələbatı yalnız alternativ enerji mənbələrindən əldə edilir. Kənddə DOST Agentliyinin Şərqi Zəngəzur və Qarabağ proqramı çərçivəsində Smart DOST xidmət məntəqəsi də fəaliyyətə başlayıb. Ağalıda Dost Aqropark fəaliyyət göstərir.
Agali kend meydanında otuz ilə yaxın müddətdə işğal altında qalan əzəli torpaqlarda sülhün əbədi gerçəkləşdirilməsini təcəssüm etdirən göyərçin abidə-fəvvarə kompleksi ucaldılıb. Qəsəbədə, eyni zamanda, Azərpoçt” MMC-nin rayon şöbəsi, ASAN xidmət” və DOST, həmçinin Kiçik və Orta Biznesin İnkişafı mərkəzləri təsis olunub.
Beləliklə, sakinlərin dövlət xidmətlərinə rahat çıxışı gerçəkləşib, onların ASAN” və ya DOST” xidmətlərinə müraciət üçün rayon mərkəzinə getmələrinə ehtiyac qalmayıb.
Həmçinin kənddə Ailə sağlamlıq mərkəzi, uşaq bağçası, həmçinin kənd tam orta məktəbi də sakinlərin istifadəsindədir.
Sakinlər müxtəlif fəaliyyət sahələrində artıq işlə təmin olunub: bank, aqrar və texnologiya sektoru, Zəngilan beynəlxalq hava limanında və digər sahələrdə

ŞUŞA XAN QIZI BAĞI - Shusha autumn beauty/ Осенняя красота Шуши
The city of Shusha in Azerbaijan attracts attention with its beautiful nature in all seasons. The Khan gizi garden in Shusha is reminiscent of a painting painted in gold in autumn. The mountains in the distance, the yellow and red leaves of the trees and the delicate flowers fascinate those who see them. Man falls into a magical world here.
Qarabağın baş tacı, dağlar gözəli Şuşa ilin bütün fəsillərində əsrarəngiz təbiət mənzərələri ilə diqqəti çəkir. Şuşadakı Xan qızı bağı isə payız fəslində qızılı boyalarla işlənən tablonu xatırladır. Uzaqdan görünən dağlar, yarpaqları qızılı rəngə çalan ağaclar, xəzanın sarı, qırmızı rəngləri ilə yanaşı, təzə-tər otların göz oxşayan yaşıllığı və yarpaqların, otların arasından boylanan çiçəklər görənləri valeh edir. İnsan burada sanki başqa, sirli-sehrli bir aləmə düşür.

How Azerbaijani people celebrate 8 November | 8 Noyabr Victory day | 4K | فتح کا دن
Assalam O Alikum!
In this video I am gonna to tell you about 8 November which is victory day of Azerbaijan, The Victory Day (Azerbaijani: Zəfər Günü) is a public holiday in Azerbaijan that is celebrated on 8 November, in commemoration of Azerbaijan being the victor in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. Established by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, dated 2 December 2020, the holiday is celebrated on the day of the recapture of Shusha. It is a non-working holiday.
On 27 September 2020, clashes broke out in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, which is de facto controlled by the self-proclaimed and unrecognized Republic of Artsakh, but de jure part of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani forces first advanced in Fuzuli and Jabrayil districts, taking their respective administrative centres. From there, they proceeded towards Hadrut. Azerbaijani troops began to advance more intensively after the fall of Hadrut around 15 October, and Armenians began to retreat, with Azerbaijanis then taking control of Zangilan and Qubadli. Launching an offensive for Lachin, they also penetrated into Shusha District through its forests and mountain passes.
Following the capture of Shusha, the second-largest settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh, a ceasefire agreement was signed between the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, ending all hostilities in the area from 00:00, 10 November 2020 Moscow Time Under the agreement, the warring sides will keep control of their currently held areas within Nagorno-Karabakh, while Armenia will return the surrounding territories it occupied in 1994 to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan will also gain land access to its Nakhchivan exclave bordering Turkey and Iran. Approximately 2,000 Russian soldiers will be deployed as peacekeeping forces along the Lachin corridor between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh for a mandate of at least five years.
Hope you guys enjoy this!

Anglo Asian is an AIM quoted company with a portfolio of gold, copper and silver production and exploration assets in Azerbaijan. The Group has a 1,926-square kilometre portfolio of properties at various stages of the development cycle, and reported record revenues over $100m for FY 2020.
After an eventful start to the year for well-positioned miner Anglo Asian, we were pleased to have CFO Bill Morgan talk the audience through the company’s recent updates on production, costs and growth strategy.
Bill walked investors through the company’s three main contracting areas: Gedabek, Gosha and Ordubad, highlighting the new discovery Zafer, and new mineral discoveries at Gosha.
Investor questions focused on the Conroy Gold JV and the synergies surrounding this, as well as the five new exploration areas in Gedabek, and the three newly restored contract areas and how these would become operational over time.
