S1 – Ep 364 – Margate – The Shoreline Retained its Timeless Allure!
Our visit to Margate, which is nestled among the charming towns along the Kwazulu-Natal South Coast, was a nostalgic journey intertwined with the present. As we ventured through these interconnected landscapes of Ramsgate and Margate, the distinction between the two towns blurred, yet their unique essences remained. Having frequented Margate years ago, our return was filled with anticipation to witness its evolution. The passage of time seemed suspended as we revisited cherished haunts, discovering that many aspects had retained their unchanged charm. The shoreline kept its timeless allure, with the beachfront's beauty undiminished, and the scenic coastal drive evoked awe. Our sojourn in Margate bridged the years, a heartfelt reunion with cherished memories amidst an evolving tapestry. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #ramsgate #kwazulunatal #margate

DRIVING from SENEKAL to WINBURG in SOUTH AFRICA 4K (60fps)
Thanks to advanced AI technology, I'm able to present to my viewers FRONT & SIDE views from my camera of my drive from Senekal Town to Winburg Town in SOUTH AFRICA *10 OCTOBER 2023*
SENEKAL TOWN
Senekal is a town situated on the banks of the Sand River in the eastern part of the Free State province of South Africa.
It is the second largest town in Setsoto Municipality after Ficksburg, the largest town and capital of Setsoto. Senekal lies on the N5 national road between Winburg on the west and Bethlehem to the east.
Farming around Senekal plays a vital role in the economy of the province and country at large. Produce includes maize, sunflower, wheat, milk and livestock.
WINBURG TOWN
Winburg is a small mixed farming town in the Free State province of South Africa.
It is the oldest proclaimed town (1837) in the Orange Free State, South Africa and thus along with Griquastad, one of the oldest settlements in South Africa located north of the Orange River.
It is situated where the N1 National Highway (which goes north to Johannesburg and south to Cape Town) meets the N5 National Route (which goes east to Harrismith). The nearest city, Bloemfontein, is 120 km away southwards via the N1 Highway.

S1 – Ep 358 – Brandfort – We Found Evidence of the Pioneers of Van Life!
Our visit to Brandfort was an intriguing and diverse experience. Upon arriving in the town, we were greeted by a vibrant community engaged in playing tennis on the courts and children playing on the rugby fields. The town's history came to life as we encountered the poignant sight of a beautiful church adorned with a monument dedicated to the memory of the women, children, and farm workers who tragically lost their lives in the concentration camp nearby during the Anglo-Boer War. The presence of other notable monuments, such as the two Voortrekker monuments, the centenary celebration monument, and the 150-year monument, further enriched our understanding of the region's heritage. Despite our eagerness to explore, we encountered a slight setback when attempting to visit the concentration camp cemetery, which is now located on private property. Nevertheless, the highlight of our visit came in the form of a fascinating discovery: the home of Rear Admiral John Weston, the visionary behind Africa's first-ever aeroplane. Notably, we found intriguing evidence suggesting that Weston and his family might have been the pioneers of what we now know as Van Life, as he constructed the world's first RV and embarked on an extraordinary 18-month journey across Africa. Additionally, a remarkable but somber find during our time in Brandfort was the story of the unmarked grave of Vincent Van Gogh's youngest brother, Cornelius Van Gogh, adding yet another layer of historical significance to this remarkable town. Our time in Brandfort left us with a deep appreciation for its rich history and the exceptional individuals who have contributed to its unique tapestry. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #freestate #brandfort

S1 – Ep 383 – Home – Drive-Throughs of New and Familiar Places!
As our incredible 20th trip came to an end, we embarked on the journey back home from Kwazulu-Natal, a region that had filled our days with awe and adventure for 10 unforgettable days. With nearly 1500 kilometres ahead, we split the return trip into two days, capturing picturesque drive-throughs of both new and familiar places along the way. Our overnight stay in Colesberg marked a peaceful pause before we eagerly tackled the remaining stretch of road, brimming with excitement and fond memories. We sincerely hope you've enjoyed sharing this epic journey with us as much as we cherished experiencing it. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #kwazulunatal #strand #colesberg

Melrose House became famous during the Second Boer War (1899 to 1902) because it was used as the headquarters of the British forces. For 18 months, the war effort against the Boers was strategised from 275 Jacob Mare Street. The Peace Treaty of Vereeniging that ended the war was signed around the massive dining table at Melrose House on 31 May 1902.
S1 – Ep 220 – Philippolis – A Little Town Situated in the Middle of South Africa!
The gravel road I had planned to take from Vanderkloof Dam to Philippolis was closed to the public so we had to take a detour of almost 200km to reach our destination, which meant we would only arrive in the dark. This actually gave us the opportunity to see this little town in a different light to how we normally see the places we visit. Since we arrived too late to explore, we booked into our accommodation at the Philippolis Hotel for the night, enjoyed pizza for supper and woke up ready for a day to explore. Situated in the middle of South Africa, this amazing town has a rich history and so many places of interest. We made it our mission to try and find as many as possible! #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #philippolis #freestate #orangeriver #northerncape

S1 – Ep 331 – Riebeeck East – The Standout Landmark was the Breathtaking Church!
Our recent visit to the small town of Riebeeck East was an exhilarating adventure filled with unique experiences. As we embarked on a journey along a seldom-travelled gravel road , we found ourselves immersed in a sense of exploration and discovery. The route took us through a game reserve and over a majestic mountain, treating us to awe-inspiring views from the Kalmoesfontein Pass. Arriving in Riebeeck East during the late afternoon, time was limited, but we made the most of it. The town greeted us with its tranquil ambiance as the sun began its descent. The standout landmark was the breathtaking church, showcasing remarkable architecture that left us in awe. The serene roads further added to the town's charm and peaceful atmosphere. With the sun setting, we made our way to our accommodation for a rainy night, eager to rest and rejuvenate for the adventures that awaited us the following day, after an early breakfast. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #easterncape #riebeeckeast #kalmoesfonteinpass

Things to do in Cape Town // Abandoned Shipwreck // BOS400
You may know this shipwreck from the awesome viral video by Chris Roger showcasing a 70ft rope swing they made off the crane of the infamous BOS400 abandoned shipwreck. If a visit to this ominous site is on your list of things to do in Cape Town, I highly recommend that you go as a group and that it's not for novices.
A bit more about the BOS400
source:
The BOS 400 is a French Derrick/Lay Barge that ran aground while being towed by the Russian tugboat Tigr on June 26, 1994.[1]
The Tigr was chartered to tow the BOS 400 from Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo to Cape Town, South Africa. The tow-rope broke loose during a storm and causing the vessel to run aground off Duiker Point near Sandy Bay.[2][3]
Despite several towage attempts, the shipwreck was considered a total loss as salvors were able to recover little from the wreck.
The Tigr tugboat was built in 1987 in Polish shipyards. Following the accident, it remained idle in the Cape Town docks from 1994 to 2000, when it was sold for $625,000.[4]
