Wapakoneta KOA || Armstrong Air and Space Museum || Wapakoneta, Ohio
We are the Haley Family!
Brian, Paige, Jake and Jen set out on weekly adventures and share them with YOU!! Our goal is to show you our adventures and hopefully inspire you go get out and create your own memories.
Our plans for the weekend did not work out, so we went on the hunt for a place to camp last minute. The only place with openings close to us was Wapakoneta KOA. We enjoyed our time at the campground. There are a few local attractions: Armstrong Air and Space Museum and the Airstream Factory. The Armstrong Air and Space Museum is by appointment only. The Air Stream Factory has tours Monday through Friday at 2 pm. Although we were not able to go to any of the local attractions, it was very nice to get out and camp.

Temple of Tolerance Amazing Rock Sculpture Garden Wapakoneta Ohio
Join me on a stroll through the most unique 'garden' you'll ever experience. The creation of artist and philosopher Jim Bowsher, this 'rock' garden took 18 years to create. Comprised of carefully arranged boulders, millstones, relics, found objects and antiquities, the garden is meant to be a place of peace for all who enter. Everyone is welcome in this oasis located within an unassuming neighborhood near downtown Wapakoneta.
Pictures truly do not do this unique place justice. It is a maze of reverent rock temples interspersed with whimsical installations. In a time when words like awesome and amazing are too frequently dispensed, those terms fall short in describing the Temple of Tolerance.

We got lost in this guys suburban back yard
This is probably one of the strangest and most interesting places we have ever visited. In the birthplace of Neil Armstrong (Wapakoneta, Ohio), we explore the Suburban back yard of Jim Bowsher, self-described master of the Temple. Welcome to the Temple of Tolerance. He has spent 25 years building a very strange, yet very relaxing museum of 'stuff' in his back yard and is open 24x7 to the public. However, you'd never know as the house is just a plain old house in a plain old street. Come with us as we explore in awe at his creations!

VAN WERT, OHIO
Van Wert is a city in and the county seat of Van Wert County, Ohio, United States. It is located in northwestern Ohio approximately 77 miles (124 km) southwest of Toledo and 34 miles (55 km) southeast of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The population was 11,092 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Van Wert micropolitan area, which is included in the Lima–Van Wert–Wapakoneta combined statistical area.
Van Wert is named for Isaac Van Wart, one of the captors of Major John André in the American Revolutionary War. A center of peony cultivation, Van Wert has hosted the annual Van Wert Peony Festival on and off since 1902. Van Wert is home to the first county library in the United States, the Brumback Library.
Van Wert County Courthouse (built 1874–1876) is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Van Wert was surveyed in 1824 by Captain James Riley, who was contracted by the government to survey lands purchased from Native Americans under a treaty in 1818. It was incorporated as a town in 1848 and was chartered as a city in 1903.
The town is located in an area originally known as the Black Swamp. Early pioneers had to deal with swampy ground, mud, and malaria. They persevered, draining the swamp for agriculture and eventually reclaiming enough dry land to establish the town. Van Wert was the birthplace of aviation pioneer Walter Hinton and the famous baritone Charles W. Clark.
CELINA, OHIO
Celina is a city in and the county seat of Mercer County, Ohio, United States about 58 miles (93 km) northwest of Dayton. The population was 10,935 at the 2020 census. Celina is situated on the northwestern shores of Grand Lake St. Marys.
James Watson Riley established Celina in 1834. The settlement was named after Salina, New York.
By the 1880s, the town had grown significantly, primarily due to the discovery of deposits of oil and natural gas nearby.
The town was hit by a deadly EF3 tornado on May 27, 2019. Numerous homes, building, trees, and power lines and poles were damaged or destroyed. One person was killed and eight others were injured.
