Tranquil summer beach day at DAR State Forest and campground. Upper Highland Lake Massachusetts

I stopped off at DAR State Forest and campground in Goshen, MA on my way to the Berkshires to hike and fish along the Deerfield River and the Housatonic. I wish I had planned more time for a relaxing beach day on Upper Highland Lake.

The beach pictured here is available to all state park visitors and had bathroom/changing facilities. There was a separate campers-only beach which I might post later (mention in the comments if interested!) that was equally as nice and located along the main campground loop.

Granite Peak || Walpole

Granite Peak is a small climb about 50 minutes north of Walpole in the south west of Western Australia. Located in the Granite Peaks state forest next to Mount Frankland national parks.

The trail is quite overgrown, although it might look nice it is quite uncomfortable to complete at the moment and requires clearing.

The views from the top are great with a nice breeze to cool off.

About 2.4km return, elevation change is less than 200m and it can be done in less than an hour and a half.

Walpole New Hampshire (NH) Real Estate Tour

Tour Walpole, NH neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.

Walpole, New Hampshire is a village of uncommon beauty and quiet charm. Situated along the Connecticut River, which marks the natural border between New Hampshire and Vermont, Walpole enjoys stunning rural scenery, a relaxed pace of life and a variety of annual cultural events. It contains many architecturally significant old houses, including several associated with Col. Benjamin Bellows, Walpole's founder, and members of his family. The first bridge across the Connecticut River, something of an engineering achievement, was built here in 1785 and is one of the United States' most famous early spans. Agriculture and poultry remain staples of Walpole's economy.

Walpole offers a wide array of recreational and leisure activities for residents and visitors alike. The Connecticut and Cold Rivers feature excellent fishing, while an extensive and well maintained snowmobile trail system winds through Walpole and the surrounding region. Several major ski areas are just a short drive from the Walpole area, including Ascutney, Bromley, Stratton, Okemo, Killington and Sunapee.

Walpole has a town recreation area with a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts and a jogging track. In the summertime there are band concerts on the Village Green, which has changed little in over a century. Walpole is hardly alone among area towns in sponsoring a wide variety of community activities. There are Old Home Days celebrations in many of the surrounding towns as well as flea markets, antique shows, rock swaps, car shows, antique engine shows and horse shows. For other town tours visit . For towns in NH visit . For NH relocation information go to .

New Bedford, Massachusetts - Travels With Phil

New Bedford is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. As of the 2010 census, it was the sixth-largest city in Massachusetts. New Bedford is nicknamed The Whaling City because during the 19th century, the city was one of the most important whaling ports in the world. The city, along with Fall River and Taunton, make up the three largest cities in the South Coast region of Massachusetts.

New Bedford is the home of the New Bedford Whaling Museum, the centerpiece of the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. It is the country's largest museum on the subject of whaling and the history of interaction between humans and whales. The museum has the skeletons of a 66-foot (20 m)-long baby blue whale (obtained in 2000), a 35-foot (11 m)-long adult humpback whale (obtained in 1900), and a 45-foot (14 m)-long sperm whale (obtained in 2004) on display. All whales died in New England waters and were cleaned and assembled for display. It is also home to the Whaling Voyage Round the World 1,275 foot long panoramic painting. - Travels with Phil copyrighted by Phil Konstantin -
