Places to visit in Hawaii
Hawaii is a U.S. state located in the Pacific Ocean. It is the only state outside North America, the only island state, and the only state in the tropics. Hawaii is also one of a few U.S. states to have once been an independent nation.
Hawaii's tropical climate and laid-back Pacific Island atmosphere are just part of what makes the state so special. Occupying the tops of massive volcanic mountaintops jutting from the sea, these islands have a diverse and beautiful landscape that varies from the stark lunar surface of the Kilauea volcano to lush green forests filled with exotic flowers. Waterfalls stream down the mountain sides like tears on the dramatic Na Pali coast, while ancient rivers have carved deep into the rock of Kauai to create the Waimea Canyon. The Big Island is home to an active volcano, and Oahu is home to Pearl Harbor and its rich history. Surrounding them all, the mighty Pacific is home to a plethora of ocean life, providing endless opportunities to snorkel, scuba dive, surf, or simply go for a swim after sunbathing. Perhaps the most special part of the islands, however, are its people, whose welcoming attitude make you truly feel like you are in paradise.

Hawaii's Big Island Vacation Travel Guide
Hawaii's Big Island Vacation Travel Guide
Over 1.5 million to 1.7 million tourists visit Hawaii's Big Island each year, making it the third most visited island in Hawaii. The Big Island of Hawaii has rightfully earned the term Big Island, which differentiates it from the 1,500-mile-long archipelago that also bears the name Hawaii.
Located amid the Pacific Ocean, the Big Island has a land area about equal to that of the state of Connecticut and it is continuing to expand at a steady rate due to the Kilauea Volcano, which is located on the island's eastern shore.

Big Island Hawaii - Video Tour Of Some Of The Big Island's Best Hawaiian Attractions
Hawaii's big island is twice as large as all other Hawaiian islands combined. Explore the Big Island, discover it's amazing history, tour the one of a kind Kona Koast, and travel to the Summit of the tallest mountain in the world, Mauna Kea.
Visit the Bellinghamster.com Store for fun and unique Hawaiian themed items.
The peak of Mauna Kea Hawaii is home to many of the World's most sophisticated telescopes owned by various countries around the world who are allowed to keep their super telescopes there under one condition, that the US can use them for a certain number of hours a month.
Be sure to subscribe to my BellinghamsterTrail Youtube channel for all my latest videos including other Hawaiian videos of my trip to the 4 major Hawaiian islands.
The Big Island Hawaii video is an original work I created from photos taken while visiting the Islands on a cruise ship. The graphics, animations and effects in this video were created with video editing software on my computer. This video is for entertainment purposes only. Do not use this video for planning a trip to the islands for vacation, or any other purpose. Do not travel to the Hawaiian islands to see dinosaurs because dinosaurs are extinct and as mentioned in the video, when the Big Island of Hawaii rose from the ocean floor about a million years ago, the Dinosaurs had already been extinct 62 million years ago.

Hiking One of the Steepest Roads in the World - Waipio Valley Road in Hawaii
We hiked Waipio Valley Road located on the Big Island, Hawaii. It's one of the steepest roads in the world! More pics:
Holy sh!t, that road is steep!!! Bring a lot of water, since there's no way that pathetic rental is going to make it down and back up again. Don't let the pavement fool you -- this Big Island hike is short but strenuous.
Seriously, at one point the road into Waipi'o Valley ascends 800 feet in just over half a mile, topping out at a grade of roughly 40%. That's crazy steep, and enough to wear out your calves going down. Don't get me started on the trip back up -- as you can see in the video, the hill pretty much kicked my ass.
Waipi'o Valley is majestic and beautiful, and its worth making the trip just to check out the overlook. The valley is about a mile wide and six miles deep, and filled with lush green vegetation, waterfalls and taro fields. The site also has an interesting history, having been home to many old Hawaiian kings and at one point it was wiped out by a tsunami. Today, there are only a few dozen residents -- most of the land is private property, so be respectful and stick to the path leading to the beach.
If you do hike down the insanely steep road, make a sharp right at the bottom onto a (muddy) dirt lane and follow it out towards the ocean. After a half a mile or so, you'll come upon the rocky shore and one of the Big Island's famous black sand beaches. Head to the left to find a small river running out into the ocean -- a great place to hang out and have a picnic lunch. You can also head right along the rocky shore, and if it's been rainy you'll find a nice waterfall running down a cliff into the sea.

George Kahumoku Jr. - Hawaiian Farmer - Part 1
George Kahumoku Jr. is recognized as a true Slack Key Legend in Hawaii.
When he was 27 years old, Kahumoku was diagnosed with cancer. The doctors gave me six months to live. But as had others, they underestimated Kahumoku's remarkable will. Twenty-seven years later, he's still going strong.
I still live like I only have six months, he confides. I don't wait to do New Year's resolutions. Every six months, I ask myself: 'What have I done to improve the world, or to add something to the world?
Now 54, the Hawaiian renaissance man has added a lot. He has 40 music recordings, one book in print and another on the way, his own music label (Kealia Farms), and original sculptures in public and private collections worldwide. The Kïhei resident also is a father, teacher, entertainer, fisherman, farmer, ceramist, builder . . . you name it.
George spends his free time maintaining his three-acre farm growing fruit and vegetables, dry-land taro (for his famous home-made poi) and tending his goats, chickens, ducks, and miniature horses. True to his Hawaiian heritage, wherever he goes, George brings bundles of fresh produce to share with friends and students.
