The ULTIMATE SICILY ROAD TRIP - Taormina, Ortigia, Agrigento, Erice & MORE (Italy’s Hidden Gems)

Welcome to Sicily, Italy's southern island nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean. While Italy attracts millions of tourists each year, many tend to focus on its more iconic cities and regions. Sicily is by no means a hidden gem, but it certainly provides a more authentic and less crowded Italian experience. With its alluring mix of ancient ruins, charming coastal towns, and delicious cuisine, this is the Italy we've been looking for. We are so lucky that Tommy’s parents are joining us on this unforgettable roadtrip as we go beyond the usual tourist hotspots and immerse ourselves in the Sicilian culture.

Our first destination was the enchanting town of Taormina. In this picturesque, cliffside town, there was so much to do. We visited Isola Bella, a stunning island just off the coast, indulged in incredible dishes like the iconic Bam Bar granitas and pistachio pasta, and delved into the rich history at the ancient amphitheater.

We then headed to Ortigia, a charming island brimming with character and history. Strolling through the streets, we discovered the vibrant outdoor market, where local vendors displayed an array of fresh produce, artisanal crafts, spices, and FRESH seafood. The market's lively atmosphere was sensory overload, and we couldn't resist sampling some of the incredible seafood. The culinary scene in Ortigia, especially its exceptional seafood, makes it an unmissable highlight on any Sicily road trip.

Agrigento's Valley of the Temples stands as an essential stop on a Sicily journey. This ancient archaeological site has well-preserved Greek ruins that transport visitors back in time. We went at sunset for ideal lighting and a great atmosphere.

Erice, a hilltop town in Sicily, is a must-visit destination. With its cobblestone streets and medieval architecture, the town offers a charming and historic atmosphere. We tried the local cookies, which were so yummy. The town's unique blend of history and culinary delights makes it a memorable stop on any Sicilian itinerary.

We spent a couple nights in Castellammare del Golfo, a charming town on the northwest coast of Sicily.

We ended our road trip spending few days by the sea near Messina, providing a perfect place to reflect on our incredible Sicilian adventure.

Sclafani*Bagni, Sicily ~ A Tour With Conte*Marco | 03 July 2011 ~ # - IMAG0169.AVI

e` WOW! That's been Conte's problem as well as ours in trying to find words to describe these photos, which we are editing descriptions as we write. In the end, we all agree. No words can portray what the eye sees from this majestic and ancient mountain village that has been lost to time for centuries. One can only imagine the views enjoyed by two reining Kings, Dukes and Baron's from their North and South castellos. The acqua zolfata spa water is amazing. Liquid gold. When the Ancient Greeks' had Sicily, Sclafani*Bagni was the seat, and they found the thermal zolfata water springs so miraculous they dedicated the springs to the god of medicine Aesculapius. A 30-40 minute bath and you do not have to sleep that night. These holly waters have been curing what ails all for thousands of years. Conte means to bring the views to your living rooms. We can't wait for the film crews to start shooting the series Famiglia VARCA.

Quante storie intorno a quella roccia!

VISIONS OF SICILY, ITALY #shorts #trending #viral

VISIONS OF SICILY, ITALY #shorts #trending #viral features stunning and spectacular aerial, walking, and drone video footage great for travel, visit, and tourism planning set to original music. Sicily (Italian: Sicilia) is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of the 20 regions of Italy. It is one of the five Italian autonomous regions and is officially referred to as Regione Siciliana. The region has 5 million inhabitants. Its capital city is Palermo. Sicily is in the central Mediterranean Sea, south of the Italian Peninsula, from which it is separated by the narrow Strait of Messina. Its most prominent landmark is Mount Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe, and one of the most active in the world, currently 3,329 m (10,922 ft) high. The island has a typical Mediterranean climate.

The earliest archaeological evidence of human activity on the island dates from as early as 12,000 BC. By around 750 BC, Sicily had three Phoenician and a dozen Greek colonies and it was later the site of the Sicilian Wars and the Punic Wars. After the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century AD, Sicily was ruled during the Early Middle Ages by the Vandals, the Ostrogoths, the Byzantine Empire, and the Emirate of Sicily. The Norman conquest of southern Italy led to the creation of the County of Sicily in 1071, that was succeeded by Kingdom of Sicily, a state that existed from 1130 until 1816. Later, it was unified under the House of Bourbon with the Kingdom of Naples as the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The island became part of Italy in 1860 following the Expedition of the Thousand, a revolt led by Giuseppe Garibaldi during the Italian unification, and a plebiscite. Sicily was given special status as an autonomous region on 15 May 1946, 18 days before the Italian institutional referendum of 1946.

Sicily has a rich and unique culture, especially with regard to the arts, music, literature, cuisine, and architecture. It is also home to important archaeological and ancient sites, such as the Necropolis of Pantalica, the Valley of the Temples, Erice and Selinunte. Byzantine, Arab, Roman and Norman rule over Sicily has led to a blend of cultural influences.

Sapori d'autunno a Petralia Sottana

PETRALIA SOTTANA E PETRALIA SOPRANA: Tra i borghi più belli d'Italia - Viaggio in Sicilia - MADONIE

🔔 ISCRIVITI AL CANALE E CLICCA SULLA CAMPANA 🔔

Voi credete che Petra sia in Giordania. E avete ragione.
