The Víctor Balaguer Library Museum is located in Villanueva y Geltrú, Barcelona, Spain. It was founded in 1884 by Víctor Balaguer, as a sign of gratitude to the city for the support received in his political career. Since 2000, the museum has been a section of the National Art Museum of Catalonia and the library section of the Library of Catalonia. In 2019, the museum was declared a Museum of National Interest by the Generalitat.The building was built between 1882 and 1884. it is the work of the architect Jeroni Granell and located in the center of the town. On the facade of the building are the sculptures of Archbishop Francisco Armañá and the poet Manuel de Cabanyes, who were prominent vilanovines of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Since the year the museum was founded, the Prado Museumhas deposited various works, which are periodically renewed. Very often this deposit is made up of Castilian, Valencian and Andalusian painting from the 16th to 18th centuries, adding works by renowned artists such as El Greco, Goya or Ribera, and Murillo among others.

Vilanova i la Geltrú is the capital city of Garraf comarca, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Historically a fishing port, the city has a growing population of approximately 66,000, and is situated 40 km south-west of Barcelona, with the more famous coastal resort of Sitges some 10 km to the north-east.
The town has a long history, and experienced an efflorescence during the Romantic period evidenced by a wealth of opulent 19th century buildings. Agriculture and the maritime trade in wine were the traditional sources of income during the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, while agriculture and a significant fishing fleet continue to be sources of income, the primary economic activity is industry in the sectors of metal, textile and chemicals.

The San Cristóbal lighthouse was inaugurated in 1866 with a 5th order optic and an olive oil lamp . A few years later it was decided to design a new tower, the new lighthouse being lit in 1905. In 1918 it was electrified, but during the Civil War it had to be turned off.The Espai Far is a facility located in the museum Lighthouse San Cristobal de Vilanova, opened on 16 July 2016 focused on the maritime heritage of the city. It has three permanent exhibition spaces: the Vilanova i la Geltrú Sea Museum, the Víctor Rojas space and the Roig Toqués Museum of Marine Curiosities.
The Roig Toqués Museum of Marine Curiosities contains objects related to the sea that Francesc Roig Toqués collected during his lifetime: ship's ingenuity, sands from all over the world, dissected fish, among other curiosities.

Vilanova I la Geltrú is the capital city of Garraf comarca in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Historically a fishing port, the city now has a population of around 66,000 people and is located 40 kilometers south-west of Barcelona, with the more famous coastal resort of Sitges 10 kilometers to the north-east.The town has a long history, and it thrived during the Romantic period, as evidenced by a slew of opulent nineteenth-century structures. Josep Tomàs Ventosa Soler, a textile magnate who died in 1874, was primarily responsible for the atmospheric Plaça de la Vila and many of its iconic public buildings.

The Can Papiol Romanticism Museum is a museum located in the historic centre of Vilanova i la Geltrú. It is a manor house dating from the end of the 18th century and is characteristic both for the furniture and decorative elements preserved from the time. Its aim is to evoke 19th-century society by analysing the everyday life of a well-to-do family of the time.Francesc Papiol was a 19th century bourgeois merchant belonging to one of the most distinguished families in the town. Papiol died without issue and his estate passed to his sister Lluïsa, married to Manuel de Torrents. In 1959 , a descendant of his, Ignasi de Torrents, sold the house with all its furniture to the Diputación de Barcelona to use it for museum use.
In 2006 the building was closed to the public to carry out a restoration process. The deck and the wooden beams, affected by termites, were replaced . The project was approved in 2007 and carried out between 2008 and 2010. The restoration process was carried out respecting the original aesthetics and using materials faithful to the original construction for the finishes, at a cost of € 2,100,000 paid by the Barcelona Provincial Council.
