Ananthagiri Hills I Amazing hill station | Ooty of Telangana I Vikarabad I Bugga Rameshwaram
Vikarabad is just 75 KM away from Hyderabad. It is called Ooty of Telangana. It is the only hill station near to Hyderabad.
Ananthagiri Hills is located 10 km from Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, India. The hills are the main water source for Osmansagar and Himayathsagar. It is considered as one of the dense forests in Telangana region. Ananthagiri has a famous temple located in this forested region, which is also the birthplace of Musi River. It is situated at a distance of about 90 km from Hyderabad City and a popular destination for trekking and for those who love adventure. It is also considered one of the earliest human habitat areas in South India. Ancient caves, medieval fort like structures and ancient temple shows the history of the area.
It is a much sought after place, which is covered, by red soil and ideal for some adventure sports. Visitors rate it as one of most beautiful places for a weekend get away from Hyderabad. The road is in good condition, which takes you into the dense forests with beautiful trees and streams all along the way. Near the lighthouse if you take a 2 km diversion, you can reach the topmost point in the Vikarabad region, which offers an excellent view point. A trip to Vikarabad on a cloudy day with a little drizzle is simply an unforgettable experience and it is a poor man’s Ooty in summer.

Vikarabad District was established on the 11th of October, 2016. Covering an area of 3,386.00 square kilometres (1,307.34 sq.mi), the district shares its boundaries with Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Mahaboobnagar of Telangana state, and the Karnataka state. According to the 2011 Census of India, the district has a population of 927,140.
Vikarabad District was created with 18 mandals from the former Rangareddy and Mahaboobnagar Districts, and it is divided into 2 Revenue Divisions. Vikarabad Revenue Division consists of Marpalle, Mominpet, Nawabpet, Vikarabad, Pudur, Kulkacherla, Doma, Pargi, Dharur, Kotepally, and Bantwaram mandals from Rangareddy District. Tandur Revenue Division includes Basheerabad, Doulthabad, Tandur, Peddemul, Yelal mandals from Rangareddy District, and Kodangal, Bommaraspet mandals from Mahaboobnagar District.

Today, after a long day in the Stock Market and after trading in options, I realized it was better that we went on a day trip to some interesting destination. A few of us planned to visit a piece of land I was planning to buy in the Vikarabad area which is next to the Vooty Golf County and also the Deccan Trails. Also, realized that the Ananthagiri Hills location was closed by the time we reached and hence we visited The Wilderness Retreat for dinner and spent some amazing time there.

For accommodation in Ananthagiri hills you can choose Hairtha Resort at Ananthagiri Hills which has a tariff of INR1500 per day and the second option is Deccan Trails. Haritha valley resort operates a restaurant serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines. The small reservoir, the lush green jungle, the jungle trail are all an added attraction to this place covered by thick vegetation, small rivulets and beautiful streams with fresh water.
Here are few collected memories from my trip to Vikarabad. It was an attempt to explore how vikarabad looks during off season. Thought the journey was tiring in hot sun but had a great feeling of achievement.

in this video I explored Ananthagiri hills forest located in the VIKARABAD of Telangana state.
i travelled from GULBARGA to hills via train and bus to reach there and explored the very famous anantha padmanabha temple, ancient caves, kalyani, bird site, and from there i walked 2kms to reach the grass land and came back to the ANANTHAGIRI from there i Hitchhiked to the nandi statue and Naga Siva temple and headed towards Ananthagiri hills watch tower by the trek route through the lushy jungle and water streams along, and waterfall after 30 minutes of steep trekking i reached the tower and the view from the tower is breathtaking and mesmerizing view from the tower is worth the difficult terrain.
