- Free museums in Sweden. There used to be a lot more free museums before 2023, but the state owned museums have unfortunately introduced an entry fee since then. But you can still find a few ones that are completely free - Visiting the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi is completely free...even if staying at the hotel is extremely expensive - Looking at runestones is a perfect excuse for a road trip in Sweden. And it's also free to look at them. Good places for runestones include Vallentuna and Sigtuna, but also the island of Gotland, outside of Eskilstuna and in Östergötland - Entering the royal castles of Sweden costs money, but you can visit the castle grounds and the castle gardens for free. And of course look at the magnificent castles themselves. Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

Midsummer in Sweden: Vallentuna, Norrtallje & Stockholm: Dancing Around Maypole on Summer Solstice

I was in Sweden,for the Midsummer Festival on 21st June 2019! Summer solstice is a significant time of the year in many cultures, and it is marked by festivals and rituals. Traditionally in Europe, the summer solstice is seen as the middle of summer and hence called midsummer. This is the day with the longest period of daylight.
The Midsummer's day celebrations are held on a Friday between 19th and 25th June, in Sweden. I had gone to a place called Vallentuna, where people gathered on a ground, erected a maypole and danced around that, singing songs.
Later, I went to a town called Norrtallje. The city had an inlet where a boat rested. It had a small park with equipment for exercise and lawn for playing.
I reached home later that evening and had some Swedish Food! Laxplanka is a typical Swedish dish with Salmon and mashed potatoes! Köttbullar is a dish of meat balls. Finally, Älgfärsdolmar (means minced meat of Moose or Elk) with cream sauce and lingonberries!
On 21st June 2019, the night time in Stockholm was only 5 hours 23 mins, and the twilight zone was 93 minutes at both ends, thus the period of complete darkness really was about 2 hours & 15 minutes, & sunlight was available for almost 22 hours! I slept at about 12 midnight but got up at 2 AM, since it was bright! But my body needed rest, so I pulled down the window blinds, covered my eyes with Sleep Mask and slept again!

We cycled from Märsta station to Sigtuna which is approx 10Km and then explored the one of oldest and beautiful town of Sweden. It was a fun summer day. Hope you all enjoyed the video.

H Σιγτουνα (Sigtuna) είναι μικρή παραλίμνια πόλη της Σουηδίας του Δήμου Sigtuna, 50 km ΒΔ της Στοκχόλμης, με 8.444 κατοίκους το 2010. Βρίσκεται στις όχθες της λίμνης Μέλαρεν. Η έδρα του Δήμου βρίσκεται στη Märsta. Αναφέρεται σαν πόλη παρά τον μικρό πληθυσμό της, για ιστορικούς λόγους. Η Στατιστική Υπηρεσία της Σουηδίαςονομάζει πόλεις όσες έχουν πληθυσμό πάνω από 10.000 κατοίκους. Η σύγχρονη Sigtuna αναπτύχθηκε περίπου 4 χιλιόμετρα ανατολικά της παλιας πόλης που ιδρύθηκε γύρω στο 980. Σύμφωνα με την παράδοση θεωρείται ότι ήταν η κατοικία του θεού Όντιν. Η Sigtuna διαθέτει ένα γραφικό μεσαιωνικό κέντρο με εστιατόρια, καφετέριες και μικρά καταστήματα. Sigtuna is a locality situated in Sigtuna Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 8,444 inhabitants in 2010. It is the namesake of the municipality even though the seat is in Märsta. Sigtuna is, despite its small population, for historical reasons often still referred to as a stad. Statistics Sweden, however, only counts localities with more than 10,000 inhabitants as stads (a designation that encompasses both towns and cities). Situated 50 km north of Stockholm, Sigtuna – the oldest town in the country – lies on the shores of the lovely Lake Mälaren. Modern-day Sigtuna developed approximately 4 kilometres east of Old Sigtuna, a harbor town that was established around 980 (and, according to tradition, was previously the home of Odin). Sigtuna has a picturesque medieval town centre with restaurants, cafes and small shops. The old church ruins, runic stones and the old main street (Stora gatan) are popular attractions for tourists especially in the summertime. The small streets with the low built wooden houses lead up to several handicrafts shops and the old tiny town hall, (Sigtuna Rådhus). There are restaurants and Sigtuna Stadshotell, a hotel in the town centre.

Sigtuna is a locality situated in Sigtuna Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 8,444 inhabitants in 2010.[1] It is the namesake of the municipality even though the seat is in Märsta. Sigtuna is for historical reasons often still referred to as a stad.
Modern-day Sigtuna, a harbor town that was established around 980, developed approximately 4 kilometers east of Old Sigtuna (which, according to Norse mythology, was previously the home of Odin).
Sigtuna has a medieval-style town center with restaurants, cafes and small shops. The old church ruins, runic stones and the old main street (Stora gatan) are popular attractions for tourists especially in the summertime. The small streets with the low built wooden houses lead up to several handicraft shops and the old tiny town hall, (Sigtuna Rådhus). Another wonderful day for a walk in Stockholm. Today I am in my hometown Sollentuna. Sollentuna Municipality (Sollentuna kommun [ˈsɔ̂lːɛnˌtʉːna kʊˈmʉːn] (listen))[3] is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden, north of Stockholm. Its seat of local government is located in Tureberg, which is a part of the Upplands Väsby urban area.

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.
