10. Lake Starnberg
Lake Starnberg is Germany's fifth largest freshwater lake in terms of area and, due to its great average depth, the second largest in terms of water volume. Lake Starnberg is a popular recreation area for the city and, since 1976, one of the wetlands of international importance protected by the Ramsar Convention. The small town of Berg is famous as the site where King Ludwig II of Bavaria was found dead in the lake in 1886.
9. Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds.
8. Around Marienplatz
Marienplatz is a central square in the city centre of Munich. It has been the city's main square since 1158. This is Munich's core, from where it grew from a village to what it is today: a pedestrian zone, shopping paradise, and the main tourist hangout.
7. Beer Gardens
Usually located under large chestnut trees for shade. Often there are rows of fold-away tables and self-service. If you see tablecloths on some tables there is normally service only there. In a traditional Bavarian beer garden, you are allowed to bring your food along with you. Only beverages are to be bought at the beer garden. Many locals still cling to this custom, though food is available as well.

Oktoberfest is the world's largest fair held annually in Munich. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. To the locals, it is often simply called Wiesn, after the colloquial name of the fairgrounds (Theresienwiese) themselves. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810.

The Munich Residenz is the former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs of the House of Wittelsbach in the centre of the city of Munich. The Residenz is the largest city palace in Germany and is today open to visitors for its architecture, room decorations, and displays from the former royal collections. The complex of buildings contains ten courtyards and displays 130 rooms.

The Olympiapark was constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Found in the area of Munich known as the Oberwiesenfeld (upper meadow-field), the Park continues to serve as a venue for cultural, social, and religious events such as events of worship.

Three Pinakotheken (picture galleries) now lie side by side in the Museum District. The oldest, the Alte Pinakothek in a reconstructed building from 1836, is devoted to historic European painting -- its collection boasts priceless treasures including panels by Albrecht Dürer.

The Nymphenburg Palace is a Baroque palace in Munich. The palace was the main summer residence of the rulers of Bavaria of the House of Wittelsbach. The palace, together with its park, is now one of the most famous sights of Munich. The baroque facades comprise an overall width of about 700 metres. Some rooms still show their original baroque decoration while others were later redesigned in rococo or neoclassical style.

The Deutsches Museum (which means German Museum) in Munich is the world's largest museum of science and technology, with approximately 1.5 million visitors per year and about 28,000 exhibited objects from 50 fields of science and technology. The museum was founded on June 28, 1903, at a meeting of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) as an initiative of Oskar von Miller.

Lake Starnberg Germany Tours - Lake Starnberg (German: Starnberger See) in southern Bavaria is Germanys fourth largest lake and a popular
recreation area for the nearby city of Munich(münchen). Towns by the lake include Starnberg in the north, Seeshaupt in the south,
and Tutzing in the west. The small town of Berg, Upper Bavaria near Starnberg is famous as the site where King Ludwig II of Bavaria was
found dead in the lake in 1886.
The lake, which was created by ice age glaciers from the Alps, extends 21 km (14 miles) from north to south and has a width of
3-5 km (2-3.5 miles) from east to west. It has a single, small island, the Roseninsel, and a single outlet,
the Würm river (because of this river the lake was called the Würmsee until 1962). Its major inflow comes from a chain of small lakes in
the south, Osterseen. This small river is called Ach or Ostersee-Ach. It is possible to circumnavigate the lake by cycle.
The lakes water is of excellent quality due to a circular sewerage system being introduced in the 1960s, collecting all wastewater from
around the lake and transporting it to a treatment plant below the lakes outlet at Starnberg.

Seefeld is a municipality in the district of Starnberg in Bavaria, Germany. The town lies on the western shore of the Pilsensee (Pilsen Lake). It is connected to the Bavarian capital city of Munich by the S-Bahn line S8. Seefeld is notable for the Seefeld Castle (c. 1302), a seat of the Toering noble family of Bavaria.
Seefeld castle lies on the east shore of the Pilsensee. It is entered by a massive brick bridge over the Höllengraben to the fountain courtyard, built-in 1674 after a wooden bridge had collapsed. The gate was built in 1736 in rococo style, with a gable that holds an impressive stone carving of the arms of the counts of Toerring-Jettenbach. The courtyard, with its 1733 fountain, is framed by strong 18th-century farm buildings designed for stabling and brewing. A second bridge leads into the inner courtyard. Built on 10th-century foundations, the donjon was mainly built in the 13th century and renovated in 1500
The domain of Sevuelt am Pilsensee (Seefeld) was owned by the lords of Seefeld. In 1150 Count Berchthold von Andechs obtained part of the forest from the Benedictine abbey. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the lords of Seefeld acquired large estates. The castle is mentioned for the first time in 1302. The keep was built in the middle of the 13th century on a rocky spur above the Pilsensee. The small tower in the southwest of the castle shown on Michael Wening's 1700 drawing was probably older, as was the old north building. The Gothic hall and curtain wall were probably built at the same time as the keep.
The first chapel was built in the mid-14th century, first mentioned in 1365. In 1479 this chapel was replaced by the new one built between the keep and the curtain wall by Seyfried von Toerring and inaugurated on 28 December 1479. Also in 1479, a fortified tower was built in the southeast of the castle complex. In 1500 the tower and the donjon were restored. A brewery was built at Seefeld in 1601. The bridge collapsed in 1674 and was rebuilt at a high cost in brick.
The Counts of Toerring-Jettenbach, followers of the Wittelsbachs from the 14th century, were very influential at the court of the Electorate and Kingdom of Bavaria. In 1730 Count Ignaz Felix von Törring-Jettenbach was made field marshal of Bavaria. Extensive construction was undertaken from 1730 onward, including a new brewery, cowshed, and barn, an upgrade to the sawmill, replacement of the inner castle bridge, erection of a fountain in the outer courtyard, and reconstruction of the gatehouse. The chapel also received much of its present furnishings in this period. In 1766 an extension was added on the east side. The chapel was rebuilt in 1775–76 and a French roof replaced the older steep gable roof of the castle. The lodge to the southwest was built by Gabriel Seidl in 1897.

Hiking in Starnberg, Germany (2022 Episode 10)
We went on our first hike since moving to Germany! This hike was in the town of Starnberg. It was a nice and easy hike through marshes, the forest, country side, and (apparently) it also went through the city. We researched the hike before going, but none of the pictures showed that 2-3 miles of the 9.5 mile hike was through the city. Also, none of the reviews online mentioned that parts of the trail were closed so that you had to take a lot of little detours. It appeared that the areas were closed because of protected species of animals and plants that were located there. We probably ended up running into 7 or 8 dead ends. We ended up not hiking the full 9.5 miles because of the detours, but we still ended up hiking the majority of it (something like 8 miles in total).
