On the border with France in the north of Spain lies the old kingdom of Navarre, one of the smallest autonomous communities in the country. Its history was shaped by the region's close border location. Navarre is home to numerous medieval towns worth visiting, such as the 900-year-old town of Estella with its historic town center and the Palace of the Kings of Navarre from the 12th century, the only Romanesque secular building still standing in the province today. Also worth seeing are the medieval towns of Tudela, Olite with the former royal palace Palacio Real de Olite, the town of Artajona, whose old town center has been classified as a cultural asset, and Roncesvalles, an important stop on the famous Way of St. James. The silhouette of the crenellated castle of Javier rises some 500 meters above sea level. The town also boasts the parish church of La Anunciación, which houses the baptismal font of Francisco de Javier. Los Argos is home to a richly decorated church dating from the 12th to 18th centuries and a French aqueduct that also serves as a viaduct. Famous for its controversial bullfights, Pamplona is a city steeped in tradition, whose sights include magnificent 18th century buildings, the cathedral and the medieval city wall. Pamplona becomes internationally famous every July with the San Fermín festival, during which the bull runs take place, and attracts numerous visitors. Navarre offers an impressive variety of historical and cultural treasures. My journery in SPAIN continues! I am driving deep into the northern part of Spain! To trip takes me to the vegetable capital of Spain (capital verdura de españa) - TUDELA.
This is also the town my host @sa_ca_to Santi currently reside.
Tudela is a municipality in Spain, the second largest city of the autonomous community of Navarre and twice a former Latin bishopric. Its population is around 35,000. The city is sited in the Ebro valley. Fast trains running on two-track electrified railways serve the city and two freeways (AP 68 and AP 15) join close to it. Tudela is the capital of the agricultural region of Ribera Navarra, and also the seat of the courts of its judicial district.
The poet Al-Tutili, the 12th-century traveler Benjamin of Tudela, the 13th century writer William of Tudela and the physician and theologian Michael de Villanueva were from the city. The city hosts an annual festival in honor of Santa Ana (mother of the Virgin Mary) which begins on 24 July at noon and continues for approximately a week. Street music, bullfights and the running of the bulls are typical events of the festival.

Tudela, the main city of southern Navarre and the capital of the Ribera region, is chock full of surprises. It's a place that one simply must get to know in depth, in addition to being a perfect base of operations to discover this region of the Land of the Basques. We did our introductory visit to the city with the guides at Tudela Turns Me On (Tudela Me Pone), who, as we explained in the blog entry, showed us some of the highlights of the historic center on a route dotted with stories, curiosities, and anecdotes related to love and eroticism. It was a very fun way to be introduced to the places and history of this city.
