Le Redoutable nuclear submarine museum is housed next to where the ship docks but is a four-hour tour. As the city opens and wakes late, the submarine may be a good early call. Tours include coach trips to local villages and there is a great deal of WWII history. La Cité de la Mer aquarium is worth a look, it is not in this video. The old town and cathedral are covered.

Located in the Cotentin peninsula on the northwestern Coast of France near Cherbourg, in the Normandy region, this is the small village of Vauville where I spent many wonderful Summers and vacations staying with my grand-parents and family. Probably my favorite place in the world! (These images were captured during our last trip in July 2006)

Delphine met us in Cherbourg and we traversed the Cotentin finding WWII history, quaint fishing villages, charming churches, and a chance to sit in the harbor of Balfleur and talk about France.
Delphine comes from Brittany, the region just south of Normandy - Mont St. Michelle is the dividing line. She shares with us the history and culture that separates and is shared between the two regions and talks a bit about her own life.
We met Delphine through a @RotaryInternational Group Study Exchange in 2009, but have remained close friends and enjoy traveling together. You can count on her for salted caramels, apple cider, and salsa dancing!
