Add this to your list of things to do when in #Guadalajara. #tlaquepaque, Jalisco is another charming colonial town labeled a #PuebloMagico. It is an easy 30 minutes drive from the Zona Americana where we were staying in central Guadalajara.
Known for its charming colonial architecture, trendy cafes and restaurants and its love of artisanal crafts it's definitely worth your time. In this video, we go through our day in Tlaquepaque and count down the top things to do while there.

Tlaquepaque Jalisco Guadalajara Mexico has to be one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico. Tlaquepaque is located just 10 km southeast of Guadalajara City making it a great day trip from Guadalajara. Tlaquepaque is known for its Tlaquepaque Jalisco artesanias, especially its Mexican ceramics.
When you’re in Guadalajara City Mexico make sure to take a day trip from Guadalajara to Tlaquepaque. Tlaquepaque Jalisco is quite big, but the main tourist center focuses along one street, Calle Independencia. Here you will find a lot of Tlaquepaque galleries, restaurants, bars, museums and much more! Tlaquepaque, Jalisco: Next to Guadalajara - MEXICO w/Mike Vondruska
Follow me as I continue to explore Mexico as I tour the town of Tlaquepaque in the state of Jalisco.
Only 25 minutes from Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque is definitey worth a 1/2 day or full day to explore this artsy and yes, touristy town.
Make plans to have lunch or dinner in Tlaquepaque (Tlah -kay-pah-kay) as there are many great restaurants to choose from. Small boutique hotels can also be found there.
Visit the many art galleries which you will find along a several block stretch on the main street. It is a walking street (no cars).
Also, make sure to visit the largest cantina in Mexico. Actually, a group of many restaurant owners got together to form one huge complex. A main gazebo in the center is the stage for mariachi-style music. It is always fun and lively.
Since Tlaquepaque is only a short 25 minutes from the city of Guadalajara, it should be on your itinerary when you visit the state of Jalisco.

- To get to Guadalajara we had to leave Isla Mujeres ( ) and take a flight from Cancun.
Guadalajara is the capital of Jalisco state and it’s famous for mariachi, tequila, and its market, the Mercado Libertad - San Juan de Dios, the largest indoor market in Latin America. When we were there it was pretty cool to stroll around and see all the jacaranda trees in full bloom when we were there.
We also spent one day exploring the lovely town of Tlaquepaque which is a “pueblo mágico”. We took a bus from the station Centra Vieja, the ride takes 20 min and the ticket is just 9 $ pesos. It is a bit hard to pronounce Tlaquepaque and Isa failed quite a few times :D. We challenge you: say it out loud and tell us if you can pronounce it properly three times in a row but fast!
