Fire Walking Festival - Thee Mithee - Vlog-15
Firewalking is an act of walking barefoot over a bed of embers or stones. It has been practiced in many parts of the world. It is often used as a rite of passage, as a test of strength and courage, and in religion as a test of faith. This festival of firewalking at this Mariamman Temple at Kyauktan near Yangon celebrated for 10 days is a part of larger ceremony. There are a variety of events that denote high spirits, jubilation and prosperity that take place. The devotees offer their prayers like carrying milk pots, doing Kumbiduthandam (prostrating after every step), and Angapirathatchanam (rolling around the temple grounds). Mariamman is given a milk bath with the milk the devotees brought as it is a belief that the sins of a man will be washed away. Tonsuring, ear piercing, making Pongal, offering of chicken and goats (no more animal sacrifice) is also made. Karagattam, Maa vilakku, sugarcane cradle are other rituals. The pit for firewalking is prepared a night before firewalking. The pit is 18 feet in length. A small pit is also prepared at the end. It is filled with cow's milk. Throughout the ritual the pit keeps on burning. After initial worshipping , tying yellow threads, turmeric, margosa leaves and so on, the chief priest is the first person to start fire walking followed by other participants. They cool their feet in the pit at the end filled with cow's milk. The festival ends two days after Firewalking. the final chapters of Mahabaratha read and the flag hoisted on the first day is lowered.
[EngSub] 🇲🇲 Things To Do In Kyauktan | First Time Visit to Pilakat Hindu Temple
Today we rent a tri-motorcycle to go to Pilakat Hindu Temple which is located in the middle of paddy fields in Kyauktan Township. This is my very first time visit to Hindu Temple. I read about that the Pilakat Hindu Temple was built by U Kupuu Sar Mi, a farmer, in 1861. There are two temples in the complex of Pilakat, Maltaw (Mother) temple and Tartaw (Son) temple. If you're planning to visit there, I would like to recommend to eat the delicious vegetarian food served by the Temple. They serve everyone from 10am to 7pm every day.

Walk to Pelican Sri Muniswarar and Sri Angalamman Temple, Pongal Festival, Kyauktan, Yangon, Myanmar
Pongal is a four-day harvest festival celebrated in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, as well as in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. It is celebrated in the month of January and dedicated to the Hindu god Surya, who is revered as the god of the sun and the giver of life. The main event of the festival is the cooking of sweet rice, which is offered to the gods as a symbol of gratitude. The festival is also celebrated with traditional music, dance, and games, and people exchange sweets and gifts with each other. It is a time for joy, laughter and gratitude.
We visited Pelican Temple, located near Kyautan Village, the third day of Pongal festival (Mattu Pongal). The third day of Pongal is dedicated to cattle and is called Mattu Pongal. People offer prayers to the bulls, cows and other farm animals. Cows and bulls have always held a special place in India. On the same day the traditional event called Jallikattu is held, where bulls are released into crowds, and and the participants tries to grab the hump on the bull's back with both arms and hold on as the bull tries to escape. The goal is to hold on for as long as possible or remove flags on the bull's horns. It was an amazing experience for us to witness such event.

Trip Around Yangon, Myanmar
Our last stop on the trip to Myanmar was Yangon. It is the country's largest city with a population of over 5 million, and is the most important commercial center, although the military government officially relocated the capital to Naypyidaw in March 2006.
The video shows us in the downtown market and then moving uptown to the Shwedagon Pagoda. The temple is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar.
Kyauktan Ye Le Pagoda (Burmese: ကျောက်တန်းရေလယ်ဘုရား [tɕaʊʔtáɰ̃ jèlɛ̀ pʰəjá], formally Kyaikhmawwun Yele Pagoda (ကျိုက်မှော်ဝန်းရေလယ်စေတီတော်) is a Buddhist pagoda located in Kyauktan Township, Yangon Region, on a small island in Hmaw Wun Creek, a tributary of Yangon River. The pagoda was built with many Buddha's relics inside.
Two things are noticed, the water level never rises to cover the pagoda, and there will always be enough room for everyone who come to visit the pagoda (meaning, even the pagoda has small room for visitors somehow it is always balanced out between those who is coming & leaving).
It is approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of Yangon. This unusual temple was built under King Bawgasena in the third century BCE.[1] The temple hosts an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures and other fine demonstrations of Burmese Buddhist artwork and craftsmanship.

Ye Le Pagoda in Siream, Yangon River, Myanmar
Kyaik Hmaw Wun Pagoda or Kyauktan Yele Pagoda Yele Pagoda at Kyauktan means the Pagoda in mid-stream on a laterite reef. The Pagoda is also known as Kyaik Mhaw Won Pagoda. The pagoda was built by King Zeyasana, the seventh king of the Pada Dynasty in the third century BC. The height of the original pagoda was only 11ft. The only way to get into the pagoda is by the boat. Foreigners are required to sit at a larger boat which differs from the smaller ones that the locals take due to security purposes. Midstream Kyauktan Pagoda ( Yele Pagoda ) is located in the middle of Yangon river Kyauktan Township Myanmar ( away from downtown about 40 KM )
