The Green Train of Sardinia. Tempio Pausania Station and Workshops. Sardinia Tourism.
The Green Train of Sardinia on their launch day of their Tempio Pausania Station renovation project. The Green Train railway in the north of Sardinia, Il Trenino Verde Della Sardegna, needs some renovation, but work is in hand by an amazing group of dedicated and enthusiastic society members. The fantastic workshop from 1888 and station site is displayed and described in detail by our locomotive driver guide. There is a brief scene on the day of the public meeting at Tempio Pausania Station describing the plans for the renovation of the station building. This scene, I think, shows the extent of the preparation, ability and commitment of the members of the society to the renovation and re-opening of the line. I wish all involved in the project a smooth journey towards the successful conclusion of this wonderful project. Most narrow-gauge railways in Italy were built with Italian Narrow Gauge, (Italian Metre Gauge) which is actually 950 mm (3 ft 13⁄16 in) because historically the Italian track gauge was defined from the centres of the rail instead of the internationally accepted method of measuring the gauge from the inside edges of the rails. Tempio Pausania is a town of about 14,000 inhabitants in the Gallura region of northern Sardinia, Italy, in the province of Sassari.
Monte Pulchiana-Tempio Pausania- Conca Fraicata/Sardinia-Italy🇮🇹/Maluphotography16/4K/HD/Drone/DJI
The small town of Tempio Pausania, with its traditional houses made of gray granite, is located in northern Sardinia and belongs to the province of Olbia-Tempio. The charm of the coast and the sea have made Gallura so famous. Much less well known, but no less interesting, is the natural beauty of the interior of the island, with its predominantly mountainous landscape, valleys and sheltered slopes that are home to the region's only forests. In this area, the cork oak is the dominant element. It is not uncommon to find gigantic monoliths that stand out abruptly from the plain not far from these places: Monte Pulchiana in Aggius is the best known example of this type of rock formation and at the same time the largest of these formations on the island, with a height of about 590 meters of the most imposing monolith in Sardinia. This rocky relief with its rounded profile little known to most. Do you know what a conca fraicata is? Not everyone knows what they are, but Gallura is full of them. In north-eastern Sardinia there are numerous natural rock caves, formed over time by the erosion of chemical agents and closed by granite walls (hence the name fraicàta or built). It served as a small shelter for people and animals, a small storeroom, but also as a home and haven for bandits. Some of them still have signs of daily life and furnishings. Some of them were already visited in prehistoric times and also used as burials. We know how our ancestors exploited natural cavities or dug into the rocks, as evidenced by the numerous domus de janas scattered throughout Sardinia. More recently, they have been a haven for several bandits. Due to their mushroom-like shape, they are also popularly known as the Smurfs' houses. We stumbled upon this mountain by chance, but I really wanted to see it. When we got out of the car, we were immediately struck by the howling of the wolves, which fell silent again as soon as I took off with the drone. But enough telling, watch this wonderful video and let yourself be taken on the journey!

Places to see in ( Olbia - Italy ) San Pantaleo
San Pantaleo is a fraction of the town of Olbia , in the province of Sassari , and stands perched on the mountains, in the massif of Cugnana , from where it dominates the Costa Smeralda. Born in the early nineteenth century around a small manor , he saw a notable demographic development in 1894 following the concession of the parish by the bishop of Ampurias and Tempio Antonio Contini.
Already a fraction of Nuchis , in 1939, at the same time as the aggregation of this municipality in Tempio Pausania , it became a hamlet of Terranova Pausania, which in the same year took the name of Olbia. In recent decades, with the tourist development of Costa Smeralda, there has been a growing demographic and urban development of San Panteleo, which has radically changed its original appearance. A pro-autonomy committee has been active in San Pantaleo for years.
San Pantaleo today relies on seaside tourism part of its economy, once purely linked to breeding. Of the traditional pastoral vocation of the center remains traces in the traditional craft activities of wood , iron and ceramics. At San Pantaleo is located the La Smeraldina airfield, recognized by the National Agency for Civil Aviation (ENAC).
