Samoa Immaculate Conception Cathedral Apia

A beautiful and inspiring place of worship

Immaculate Conception of Mary Cathedral in Apia, Samoa

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral (also called Cathedral of Apia or Mulivai Cathedral) is a cathedral affiliated with the Catholic Church in Apia, the capital of Samoa, a insular country in Oceania. It suffered damage in the earthquake of 2009, and has undergone restoration and extension.

The interior of Immaculate Conception of Mary Cathedral will transport you to another world with its architectural beauty and a decor that blends Samoan culture and Catholicism. View the icons, paintings, marble floors, carvings, stained-glass windows, and carved wooden ceiling with a painted dome. Visitors are welcome to join the services. Before you leave, take a walk around the exterior gardens and admire the statues.

The congregation follows the Roman or Latin rite and is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Samoa–Apia, which was created in 1966 by Pope Paul VI through the bull Prophetarum voes.

After three years of repairs, the new cathedral of Apia was opened to the public on 2 June 2014 in the presence of Archbishop Martin Krebs, the apostolic nuncio in New Zealand. The church was rebuilt on the site of the original cathedral, which dated from 1857.

In 1852, William Pritchard sold a plot of land in Mulivai, about 3000 m², to Bishop Bataillon, onto which Bataillon's brother, Jacques, began building a church and a parish house. The first stone was blessed by the bishop on 8 December 1852, but work was interrupted by epidemics and a tropical cyclone in 1854, which destroyed eight ships and caused great damage to the plantations, resulting in problems with the food supply. As a result, the church was completed in 1857.

The church stood in the same place as the current one, while the residence was near Mulivai.

MSFS 2020 - Pago Pago to Apia, Samoa

This flight takes off from Pago Pago International Airport, on the Island of Tutuila, part of American Samoa. It lands on Upola Island at Faeolo International Airport, located in Apia, which is the capital of Samoa (not part of American Samoa). The thumbnail photo is around 24:13 into the flight. My first attempt at a landing started around 16:50, but it was a total flop, so I circle around the island for a second attempt at landing. I was very lucky not to have crashed. The touchdown for the 2nd landing attempt (the successful one) starts sometime before 25:50 into the flight.

Taualuga

Description:

Siva
Siva is the Samoan word for dance, but it also refers to a particular type of dance in which the performer usually stands and enacts an everyday activity. For the siva the performer usually wears a tuiga, a headdress made of feathers and human hair.

Taualunga
The Taualunga takes a similar form to the siva. It is performed by a female dancer, but instead of performing alone there will be various points at which a group of men will participate. In addition a sei, headdress of flowers, will be worn.

Sasa
The Sasa is a group dance for men and women performed both sitting and standing. Hand movements are used to depict activities taken from everyday life.

The Buffett consists of traditional Samoa food and western fair. The food is hot and there is plenty of it. Try the Chefs green bananas with coconut cream sauce, the palusami, Taro chips, the raw fish, the choice is endless. Forget the waistline you can dance that off later!! ►Visit My Website

Samoa is a small island with a population of less than 200,000. This land, which was a German and New Zealander, became the first Polynesian nation to become independent in 1962, and in 1997 it changed its name from Western Samoa to Samoa. Apia bus terminal. This place is always crowded like any other terminal due to the people coming out to the city to see the work. These buses are becoming the footsteps of the islanders. I came from a distance from the town. What are you doing in the town today? I'm going to the hospital. I'm going to school. Where is the school? The colorful buses seem to be attracting attention from the beginning. I was curious to talk to the bus driver. Why did the Samoa buses get so colorful? There are lots of schools and campuses here. I mean those schools ... Did you color yourself? Yes. Did you do the interior yourself? Yes. Why did you draw the picture (Jesus prize) in front of the car? Indicated my belief in God. What about the bus? Chairs and window frames are all made of wood, and there is no glass in the windows. It is the interior decoration that the taste of the bus owner is fully integrated. I have a lot of mirrors. Why so many? I want to look cool.

Samoa trip 2012 - 2013

Visiting Samoa and giving donations to the people over there who were in need.

Troy Polamalu visits Starkist Samoa

Troy Polamalu visits Starkist Samoa and gets emotional after witnessing the outpour of love, adoration and Pride the Samoan people have in their favorite son.
Troy is a fine example of what athletes should be about not only for his play on the field but also for his personality and humble upbringing, knowing the struggles of life and never forgetting his roots.
Not matter what team you may root for, when Polamalu is on the field how can you root for anyone else.
Go Troy!

Emerald light The Samoa Sea is transparent enough to show through the water everywhere on the island. Just looking will calm you down. Sunday is the most peaceful day for Samoan people. Everyone is dressed in white clothes and gathered in church. Children look like angels. Because white means pure and clean to the Samoans, our Samoans like to wear white-colored clothes. Most Samoans are Christians. Faith is absolute for them. Prayer time seems more reverent than ever. Faith in God seems to be the power of life for them. The bright picture of the woman walking on the offering is very impressive. It is this time to enjoy each other's good times. Today I prayed to God to protect me and my family.
