Sursee, Switzerland – where the old meets the new
Let my camera take you on a walk around the old and modern small Swiss town of Sursee, on the River Sure. The film starts with a look at industrial buildings, old and new, and moves on to some of Sursee’s shopping malls. Then it’s into the older centre with its cobbled streets and fortified gateways. The flower shop is worth a second look, as is the elegant water fountain with a statue on top in the square. In between the two, look out for the stepped-gable building with a tower behind: it has a magnificent gilded sundial in the middle of its façade. Population of Sursee is about 10'000. Travel time with the train from Lucerne to Sursee is 20 minutes.

Beyond Lucerne | SURSEE | Switzerland | Morning walk
There are some beautiful small towns in canton Lucerne, Sursee is one of those. No big mass of tourists, as the main stream of it doesn't have time to visit such small towns. During this morning walk there weren't also other people, only a few, because it was a Sunday morning. This is one of the jewels in the canton, among other scenic places, like Sempach, Beromünster and Willisau. I walked around the old city, this is the full tour of it, only with small cuts. Relax and enjoy this walk with piano music but also real sounds of an awaking town.

Many tourists visit Lucerne each year. Switzerland has four official languages, so it ought to be no surprise that you can spell “Luzern” the German way, or the French way with a soft ‘c’: “Lucerne”.
Lucerne has a perfect situation on the lake where the River Reuss flows out, with Swiss Alps Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus in the background.
The walled Old Town grew up on both sides of the river, with the enchanting Chapel Bridge, a wooden, roofed pedestrian bridge, linking the two banks. There are two other footbridges, one wooden and covered in, and the other modern, which allow pedestrians easy access to restaurants and bars on both banks of the river. In summer people head for the lake shore at lunchtime or after work, to cool off in the clear water or find shade under a beach umbrella: it can be hot in the city and many visitors will take a ride on a paddle steamer.
The Rosengart Collection, near the railway station, shows works by Picasso, Klee and other modern artists. The Culture and Convention Centre (KKL) is on the shore of Lake Luzern and was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. It is used for 500 conferences and meetings in the fields of business, culture, science and education each year. The Bourbaki Panorama is a circular painting completed in 1881 by the painter Edouard Castres. It tells the story of the internment of French soldiers who had fled to Switzerland in 1871. The tradition of panorama painting is based on illusion, and panorama as an art form is considered the forerunner of cinema. The Weinmarkt is where wine and fish were traded, but more specifically it was where, in 1332, the Luzern people took an oath of allegiance to the Swiss Federation. Today, don’t miss the beautiful fountains in Weinmarkt and Kapellplatz.
The Musseg wall is part of the 14th century defences of Luzern: you can walk along it and go inside four of its nine towers. Some of many hotels in Lucerne: Grand Hotel National, Mandarin Oriental Palace, Hotel Continental Park, Schweizerhof. The Youth Hostel Lucerne is at Sedelstrasse 12. It is far away from the city near Rotsee lake. Best time to visit Lucerne is summer. In the peak season from mid-June to mid-September there are of course many tourists in this region. From November to February the weather is cold and on many days you will have fog. Travel time with the train from Zurich Airport ZRH to Lucerne is about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Walking through the town of Cham on Lake Zug, Stage 10, Swiss Panorama Trail (Daily 360° VR Video)
Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 10, #3 - Zug to Lucerne. Modern references about the town of Cham began to occur starting in 858 when King Louis the German gave the town to his daughter Hildegard. These are the same two primary characters responsible for the Fraumünster Abbey in Zurich. The Habsburgs get their time of regional ownership in 1370. And the Swiss reformation unsuccessfully tried to make inroads in the 16th century. It was not until after Napoleon and the French Revolutionary Wars in the late 1790s that Cham was granted independent governance. Well, independent within the new Helvetic Republic which the country of Switzerland later emerged.
