Glimpse of Espanola - 4K

Espanola was originally one of the domains of the native peoples of Canada. Documentation confirms that in the mid-1700’s, a tribe from the area embarked on a trading expedition to the southern regions of the United States. When the party returned, they had a Spanish woman in their custody. In 1750, when the French voyageurs explored the area, they were reported to have been astonished to hear the Spanish language spoken in the native settlements. The area became known to the French as Espagnole, which the British later translated to Espanola. @RVGTravelVlogs

Places to see in sudbury ontario canada, Discover Sudbury ontario, Greater Sudbury Attractions, webbwood ontario, espanola ontario, Places to stay in sudbury, massey ontario, chutes provincial park, camping in sudbury

Chutes provincial Park - A Brief Introduction
Chutes Provincial Park is a recreation class provincial park in Sables-Spanish Rivers, Ontario, Canada, near the community of Massey. The park is named after a logging chute that diverted logs around the waterfall on the River aux Sables. The waterfall is considered the main attraction at the park, along with the Seven Sisters Rapids found upstream from the waterfall.
Unlike many other provincial parks, its proximity to Massey allows the park to use the municipal water supply, meaning that water does not have to be boiled before drinking.
The park's facilities include 130 campsites, of which 79 are serviced with electricity. It has a 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) hiking trail with views of scenic waterfalls and river gorge.Chutes Provincial Park spans both sides of the River aux Sables, protecting a 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) section of the river. It consists of 2 zones: a 20 hectares (49 acres) Development Zone on the west side of the river; and a Natural Environment Zone occupying the northern part and east side of the river. Park features include wetlands, rock lands, floodplains, and terraces. The campground is forested with red pine and jackpine, while on the east side of the river, there is a mixture of poplar, maple, spruce, and white pine. Upstream of this park, the river is protected in the River aux Sables Provincial Park.

Highlights:
A quiet campground located on the Aux Sables River
A six kilometre hiking trail with great views of scenic waterfalls and river gorge
One kilometer from the Trans-Canada Highway this is the only provincial park between Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie
Close to the town of Massey with amenities, cultural museum, public library
Situated near a variety of hiking trails, fishing and canoeing/kayaking opportunities
A great base to explore Manitoulin Island and the North Channel of Lake Huron

BEST campsite in Ontario!!

We found (IMO) the best campsite in Ontario!!
George Lake campground in Killarney Provincial Park, site #77.
If you love the northern Ontario feel with all the rocks and lakes you'll love this spot. It featured a large spot for tents, a fire pit, two picnic tables and just 15ft walk out to your own lookout point over the water complete with another table. We ate almost all our meals right at that lookout. Best campsite we've ever stayed at. Let us know if you know of any other incredible site in the comments!

Driving up the Coast of Canada Leaving North Bay headed to Sudbury Ontario Canada

Driving along the Canada
Interstate following the Coast highway.

Do you know where the waterfall capital of the world is? 👀

The Waterfall Capital of the World is Hamilton, Canada. Surprisingly, there are 156 waterfalls in the city, the most to be counted and recorded by any city in the world 😮

On my quick drive from Toronto I visited:

💧 My first stop was Tew Falls. It's 41 metres high and just a few metres shorter than Niagara Falls. It’s the tallest waterfall in Hamilton. The walk to Tew Falls from the parking lot is only five-minutes. On my visit, the flow was low due to lack of rain.

After climbing to the second viewing platform at Tew Falls, you can keep on going along to Dundas Peak which provides views of the the Niagara Escarpment, Dundas and Hamilton. The hike to Dundas Peak is about 25 minutes.

💧 Webster Falls is a 22-metre high curtain waterfall that flows over tiered rock formations. I absolutely love the beautiful stone bridges and walkways around the falls. It’s one of Hamilton's largest and most iconic waterfall. The trail between the Webster Falls parking lot and the falls is about 100 meters.

💧 Tiffany Falls - The 21m high cascading Tiffany Falls was my favourite of the day. Sitting right under the falls surrounded by lush vegetation was perfect. It's a short (500m) but nice forested walk from the parking lot.

Once you pay for entrance at Tew Falls you can use the receipt to get into many of the other falls on the same day 😉

Follow @msjacksontravels for more Hamilton waterfalls and day trips from Toronto.
