Monument of Glory, Samara or Samara Flag Monument. WOW! AMAZINGLY HUGE!!! - Stara Zagora - ECTV

The Monument of Glory (Russian: Монумент славы, Monument slavy) is the focal point of Slavy Square in Samara (former Kuybyshev), Russia, overlooking the Volga river to the north-west. It is dedicated to the Kuybyshev workers of aircraft industry, who were working hard during and following the Great Patriotic War. The monument is one of the most prominent symbols of Samara. Moscow sculptors Pavel Bondarenko, Oleg Kiryuhin and architect A. Samsonov created a design of the thirteen-meter-tall figure, made from high alloy steel with wings raised over his head and forty-meter pedestal. The pedestal symbolizes ray of light rising to the sky.[1]

The monument was erected between 1968 and 1971 for donations of Kuybyshev workers and other staff members of production plants. Every worker could donate only one rouble. Kuybyshev mayor's office chose a place for the monument in the city centre in the Leninsky district. The opening ceremony took place on 5 November 1971.[2]

Historical background
Kuybyshev was major aircraft-industry center of the Soviet Union during the Second World War. 28,000 Ilyushin Il-2 and Ilyushin Il-10 ground-attack aircraft was made in Kuybyshev's factories No. 1 and No. 18., representing 80 per cent of inventory.[3]

🇧🇬 Stara Zagora, Bulgaria 🌃 Night Walk in Park „Stantsionna gradina“ (Park „Station garden“) 4K 🇧🇬

🇧🇬 Night walk in #StaraZagora #bulgaria

The garden was created and refined in the period 1898-1912. It covers an area of 96 decares. The design of the garden is the work of the gardener Marin Penchev from Kilifarevo, who was invited to the city by the municipal administration.

The name comes from the location of the park - next to the railway station (called a railway station in the last century).

The park was renovated in the period 2020-2021 with a BGN 4 million grant under the Operational Program Growing Regions.

The Municipality of Stara Zagora has been awarded a diploma in the Projects related to the development of cities category for the renovated Station Garden at this year's (2021) edition of the prestigious Building of the Year competition.

Stara Zagora (Bulgarian: Стара Загора, pronounced [ˈstarɐ zɐˈɡɔrɐ]) is a city in Bulgaria, and the administrative capital of the homonymous Stara Zagora Province and municipality. Its located in the Upper Thracian Plain, being near the cities of Kazanlak, Plovdiv, Sliven. Its population is around 158,563, making it the sixth largest city, just below Ruse and above Pleven.

The city had a period of different names, mainly Beroe, Borui, Irenepolis, Eski Zagra, Augusta Traiana, etc.

Earliest traces of civilisation date back to the 7th millenium B.C. Some scholars believe that the ancient Thracian Beroe was located there. In 1968, Neolithic dwellings from the mid-6th millennium BC were discovered in the town, which are the best preserved and richest collection in Europe and have been turned into a museum.

A high density of Neolithic and Chalcolithic settlements has been identified by researchers and a ritual structure nearly 8,000 years old has also been discovered. Also the first copper factory in Europe and a large ore mining centre were discovered, both over 7,000 years old. The original settlement dates from the 5th-4th century B.C under the name Beroe or Beroia, founded by Philip II of Macedon. It was renamed to Ulpia Augusta Traiana during Roman rule and became the second most important city, after Philippopolis. During Marcus Aurelius' rule, many buildings have been built, art and music developed and there were statues and inscriptions of Orpheus.

The Battle of Beroe was fought, which resulted in a Gothic victory over the Romans. During the Gothic War between 376-382, the city was under attack by the Goths in order to attack Frigiderus, a Roman general, but he promptly withdrew to Illyria. At the end of the 6th century, Beroe was destroyed, but rebuilt under the name Veroia.

During the Middle Ages, Zagore is mentioned for the first time by Byzantine historians. Irene of Athens visited the town, rebuilding it and renaming it to Irenepolis, in honour of her. By the end of the 10th century, the city was in Bulgarian hands and acquired a fully Bulgarian character. Bulgarians called the town Borui (a modified form of the Thracian Beroe).

In 1371, the Ottomans conquered the town, but its earliest mention was in an Ottoman document from 1430. Plagues rampaged in the 18th-19th century, as well as famine and drought, livestock pestilence, and hailstorms destroyed all crops. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, the town had devastating moments, which included a massacre in which thousands of people lost their lives, young women and girls being sold in the slave market of the Ottoman Empire.

In modern times, the city is relieved, as a growing city. The economy is developing like major cities in Bulgaria, with one of the highest wages in the country, high GDP in comparison with many Bulgarian cities, low unemployment of about 4%. The city is also located near the largest energy industrial complex, Maritsa Iztok Complex, where many of the people from Stara Zagora are employed.

Stara Zagora Park “Ayazmo“ Walking Tour Video | BULGARIA 2023 4K

Welcome to Stara Zagora Park Ayazmo, a beautiful green oasis in the heart of the city. This park is named after the Ayazmoto hill, which used to be a Thracian sanctuary in ancient times. Today, it's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to enjoy some fresh air, exercise, and relaxation.

As we start our walk, let's take a moment to appreciate the scenery around us. The park is filled with lush trees, colorful flowers, and well-manicured lawns. You can hear the sound of birds chirping and the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. The sun is shining, and the sky is blue. It's a perfect day for a walk.

Continuing along the path, we'll come across a playground and a fitness area, where people of all ages can exercise and play. You might see some kids running around or adults doing pull-ups and sit-ups. It's inspiring to see people staying active and healthy in the park.

The park has over 3000 rose bushes, and during the annual Rose Festival in June, the air is filled with the sweet scent of roses. Even if you come at a different time of the year, the rose garden is still a lovely place to relax and take in the beauty of nature.

As we end our walk, I hope you enjoyed the sights and sounds of Stara Zagora Park Ayazmo. It's a wonderful place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and connect with nature. Thanks for watching, and I hope to see you on my next walking video!
