Exploring The Roller Coasters of Thailand | Part 5 | Isan
Most of the permanent roller coasters in the Isaan region of Thailand are centered around Korat: with two main parks in Scenical World in Khao Yai, and Mae Fung Water Park in Chaiyaphum. Currently, this region has one Standing But Not Operating coaster in Riddle Coaster and a defunct in Speedy Mouse from Fantasia Lagoon. There was also briefly a kiddie coaster, the Heaven Roller Coaster, at Mae Fung Water Park which is located right across the border from Korat in Chaiyaphum. With this region having a special place in my heart, as my wife is from Surin, and I have lived with her in Korat as well, I hope that this region - as well as the rest of Thailand - can get more coasters and parks, even smaller local ones like Mae Fung Water Park, in the future.

Exploring the Roller Coasters of Thailand | Part 2 | Pattaya
After experience the 6 roller coasters of Thailand in and around Bangkok, I had to spread my wings and begin the further travels to get to more isolated amusement parks in Thailand. Living in Korat Province, it made sense to try and go to Scenical World or Mae Fung Water Park, but both parks did not have their roller coasters operational. So, Pattaya became the next best option.
Pattaya has two roller coasters: Wacky Worm located at Pattaya Sheep Farm and the built-in-house Slalom Roller Coaster at Funny Land located within Pattaya Park Beach Resort. Pattaya Sheep Farm was a pleasent experience with getting to see the animals and having a nice family charm. Pattaya Park Beach Resort had a decent water park with access to the beach along with a few rides at Funny Land. Slalom offered huge promise as a unique coaster, but it's second half is so slow that it is only decent, but not great.

Yasothon is famous for the Rocket Festival, held every year in May. Originally a fertility rite it has become the major festival of the year in the region. Every school in Yasothon trains its pupils to dance Peun Muang, a traditional local dance so they can join the parade at the annual rocket festival. Pornsuree Seesang now 20 and studying in Bangkok danced in the Rocket festival as a child, she remembers the fun but also the heat as the children will dance for 4-5 hours in scourching sun. This celebration lasts for several days and peaks on the final day with serial firing of the makeshift bamboo-rockets, some are up to 10 meters in length and propel up to 10.000 meters. The festival grounds and firing takes place in a municipal park, the festival and parade takes place on Yasothon's main street. Rockets are individually judged by a committee and the respective winners take home attractive prizes. Malfiring rockets and bad performing ones are punished immediately by a toss of the entire rocketcrew in mudholes by their competitors!

Ein toller Temple steht nördlich von Nan. Der Wat Nong Bua, hier leben auch die Tai-Lue eine minority in Thailand ( vor etwa 150 Jahre eingewandert ), hat so ähnliche Wandmalereien wie der Wat Phumin in Nan. Es gibt auch ein kleines Museum im Tai-Lue House. ( hat eine super Innendachkonstruktion ) Und man kann hier selbstgefertigte Stoffe kaufen. Von Nan auf dem 1080 Richtung Tha Wang Pha, bis zur Nan-River-Bridge, dann links ab und nach etwa weiteren 10 km ist Nong Bua erreicht. Insgesammt etwa 40 Km die sich lohnen, es ist ein netter Ausflug. Auf dem Weg dorthin liegt auf der rechten Strassenseite, die Nan Riverside Art Gallery. ( moderne Thai - Kunst ) Einfach mal reinschauen !!!

The Pong Lang โปงลาง (wooden Xylophone) is a famous folk music instrument of the northeastern region of Thailand (Isan อีสาน). Ice Breaker, Sea World Orlando's new for 2022 power launched roller coaster, offers an incredibly unique experience for guests. Originally billed as a family coaster, this coaster has some insane ejector airtime at the crests of its hills that complete throws riders out of their seats. The switch track that allows multiple trains is a plus as similar sky rocket models have an otherwise more limited capacity when they're limited to only one train - plus the switch track is just beautiful to watch in action. Ice Breaker power launches multiple times as you get hang time on the hill both backwards and forwards before finally breaking the ice and moving onto the rest of the track. Even though there's a lack of theming on the coaster itself, the name comes from the Arctic exhibits next to where Ice Breaker is located (I've included some videos of those animals as well).

1- Language
Cambodia's official language is Khmer, and this is spoken by the majority of the population. Even so, Vietnamese and several Chinese dialects can also be heard spoken here. Unlike the languages of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and China, Khmer is non-tonal and has also picked up and adapted many words from Sanskrit and Pali. Khmer has also borrowed many terms from Chinese and European languages, particularly French.
The roots of written Khmer derive from a South Indian alphabet. It uses 33 consonants, 24 dependent vowels, 12 independent vowels, and diacritic markers. Vowels may be written before, after, over, or under a consonant symbol. About 50% of the Cambodian population is literate.
2 - Cambodia population and people
Cambodia's population stands at an estimated 12 million, of which the Khmer make up 90%. Other groups include Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai and Burmese and various ethnic hill tribes. Many of the hill tribes live in the mountainous regions to the north and southwest of the country.
The Khmer account for 80% of agricultural workers, while the Vietnamese and Chinese dominate the business sector.
3- Religion in Cambodia
The state religion of Theravada Buddhism was first introduced to Cambodia during the days of the great Angkor kingdom, and it prospered ever since. For centuries, monks were the only literate people residing in rural communities and filled the important role of teachers.
However, in 1975, the Khmer Rouge massacred the majority of them and destroyed most of their temples and it was not until after the Vietnamese invasion that Buddhism was once again openly practiced.
An Empire of Temples ================== Contemporary Cambodia is the successor state to the mighty Khmer empire, which, during the Angkorian period, ruled much of what is now Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The remains of this empire can be seen at the fabled temples of Angkor, monuments unrivaled in scale and grandeur in Southeast Asia. The traveler’s first glimpse of Angkor Wat, the ultimate expression of Khmer genius, is sublime and is matched by only a few select spots on earth, such as Machu Picchu or Petra.
The Urban Scene ================== Just as Angkor is more than its wat, so too is Cambodia more than its temples, and its urban areas can surprise with their sophistication. Chaotic yet charismatic capital Phnom Penh is a revitalized city earning plaudits for its sumptuous riverside setting, cultural renaissance, and world-class wining-and-dining scene. Second city Siem Reap, with cosmopolitan cafes and a diverse nightlife, is as much a destination as the nearby iconic temples. And up-and-coming Battambang, reminiscent of Siem Reap before the advent of mass tourism, charms with a thriving contemporary art scene.
