Sittard has a small historic city centre with numerous architectural monuments, including several old churches (St Peter's, St Michael's, Basilica of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart), monasteries and a few half-timbered houses. The central market square has many restaurants and bars. The city has also retained part of its city wall. The Dutch comedian Toon Hermans (17 December 1916 – 22 April 2000) was born in Sittard. He linked his name to a chain of Dutch houses that serve as a a drop-in center for people with cancer and their loved ones. For more information:

Tens of thousands of visitors from all over the region and far beyond visit the Sint Joepmarkt in Sittard every year. An annual fair where the men and women of the market sell a colorful collection of products.
The market has been a popular market for over 200 years. The first Sint Joep market was held on March 19, 1803. The mayor of Sittard received permission from Napoleon Bonaparte for this market, which was a cattle market until the end of the 19th century.
The Sint Joepmarkt is not only the first annual market of the year, but also the largest in the Netherlands. More than five kilometers of stalls string themselves together through the historic city center of Sittard. Many of the market vendors advertise their merchandise in an original way. Something that makes this market a very popular event for many visitors!
Sint Joep is a neighborhood in the city of Sittard, which is located in the province of Limburg, in the southeastern part of the Netherlands. The neighborhood is named after the St. Joseph's church, which is a prominent landmark in the area.

The city is situated in the heart of Limburg province, the narrowest part of the province, sharing a border with Germany and Belgium being only a few kilometers away. Sittard has an impressive central market square with several bars and restaurants like Tapas Cantina, Sol Grill and Luna. On this market square (De Markt) I proposed to my wife! In 2008, on that same market square, we started dreaming about a trip around the world. 10 years later, we finally made this dream come true! ((2018 - 2020) So we left our beloved hometown Sittard. (only for a while) And came back in 2020.

Windmill Park in Koningsbosch is a long-standing park located in the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. It is known for its iconic windmills, which have been standing since the 17th century. The park's origins date back to the year 1610 when the Dutch government granted the village of Koningsbosch permission to build two windmills. This was done to provide the village with a way to grind grain for bread and other products. The windmills have remained a staple of the park ever since, and have become a recognizable symbol of the town. The park has also been a popular recreational area for many years, with various paths for walking and cycling, a playground, and a restaurant.
This one is recorded at 23july 2023, there was a strong gust of wind that sounded like planes flying overhead, but it was actually just the sound of the windmill.
